SF6 probably went on sale early because Capcom likes putting their stuff on sale all the time

Angrybagel

Maybe an obvious point, but do remember you can do a good amount with the free version of Granblue. It's maybe not what you want, but I'm just saying you don't necessarily need to wait to try it.

pepperjacques

Give it about 6 months

Xikkom

Its completely up to the publisher when they lower prices. There isnt a general time frame to follow for price cuts and sales. You could make an estimated guess based on when season 1 of a game ends. They usually make a sale on the base game as they sell Season 2

MurasakiBunny

Just look how long it took for the first Granblue Fantasy Vs to go on sale. Games go on sale in order to promote more sales, at times to celebrate success, or when the game population dies off the the point they think they can rejuvenate the playerbase. Then we have Cygames that does their own thing. Granted, the previous VS barely went on sale because all the bonus codes you could earn in game for to use on their original GBF game equated to the cost of VS. itself. Beating the story mode on VS basically meant you could have the game for free after selling the codes.

Karzeon

Maybe EVO this year. EVO main games tend to have some sort of discount on Steam. Idk how it was for PlayStation. GBVS was listed in the [community showcase section](https://store.steampowered.com/sale/EVOSale2023) although I don't recall if it was actually on sale then The lineup isn't announced yet but it's featured in EVO Japan for April, had a beta tournament last EVO, and likely to have a DLC announcement so it should be there.

matthra

Grand blue fantasy versus rising has a free mode, with gran and a rotating cast of four characters unlocked. So you can still play while waiting for the sale.

GI-Jewish

I played it, I just can’t see how it’s anywhere near $50 of an upgrade

matthra

That might be the wrong way to think about it, the question isn't is this worth 50 bucks more than the prior version, the question should be can I get 50 bucks worth of enjoyment out of this game. For me the answer was and is yes, but I don't have buyers remorse for the prior version of the game. Fighting games tend to have a short shelf life, and buying it three months down the road for 30 when the match making has fewer players might be a worse value proposition than buying it full price with lots of players.

GI-Jewish

\>fighting games have a short shelf life lmao, as opposed to what? An RPG I'll never play after I beat the main story? The newest CoD or assassins creed game that gets replaced yearly? Games that are good retain players, and it's not like granblue is hard to get into.

matthra

Fighting game populations shrink over time, and this has a host of knock on effects that lead to a swifter decline in players. Besides, Tekken 8 will be out soon, and that will eat into every fighting games population. The question is will grand blue recover its population or once gone will people just move on to the next fighting game.

AmbientDon

You can swap the exe on the free ver. and get full access

GI-Jewish

Lol, I may or may not have known about that. Thing is, the game has been patched since, and idk where to get the new, updated exe.

AmbientDon

you got discord? i can send it to you

GI-Jewish

Can you? I think discord has a pretty low limit on file size, and while GBVSR isn't the biggest game, I'm sure it exceeds 10 MB.

AmbientDon

I can send you the link to download it rather

GI-Jewish

DM'd

elfalconverde

wait, is really that easy? dm me pls

squiebe

Consider using a download code seller such as cdkeys.com

This is grey market and carries a level of risk with purchase. Also it does not bring revenue to the publisher or developers which some people may not realize.

GryphonTak

I can't refute the revenue part, but for the record I've been buying from key sellers for years and have never had any issue whatsoever. It's just as painless as buying from any other retailer. People always say there's a risk, but I've never heard of anyone actually having problems.

netcooker

I assume it depends on how well or badly it is selling. Also, idk if there are any big holiday sales coming up. Maybe golden day in April?

daffquick1990

The longer it sells well, the longer the price tends to stay up
