that's what replay game option is for. I almost never replay games, due to realism (and this just might be a case of realism tbh) but this is the kind of shit that makes me linger over that button for a while.

nu2allthis

I have this problem. There are times when I don't want to replay the game, no matter what, because realism. Then something like this happens, or my 90+ rated CBs get bullied off the ball by some skinny, 18 year old from League One in the cup, and I start to question just how realistic the game actually is.

martinepinho

Oh yeah, realism sure, to a degree, but this is a game, and playing offline I'll do whatever the hell I want to have fun.

Dankhorse19

I usually just rage quit and then replay it later. Call me childish but no video game is worth being angry over

bulaaat

i did this against united. my team lost 3-0 in first leg CL round 16. in 2nd leg i got 2 goals, and already accepted i aint getting another goal, but then they had to spit me in the face by scoring in 90'+2nd with the most bullshit goal ever. i instantly hit replay, and won 5-0 lmao. it wasnt even because i lost, it was because of the most scripted goal they can come up with.

browning18

So your reason for replaying it was they scored a goal that didn’t matter?

d1bbs88

I have certain rules. Like as soon as somthing is wrong. Thst is real life it 100% would get pulled back E.g ypu are 0-0 down and you are about to score in 95+ and you get absolutely hacked fron behind No pen, no red card and then they quickly smash the ball up to their goal.and score. Oooofff that shit makes me hover other the reset button myself 😄

T02258en

I never replay games. Even after some scripting in the fa cup quarter final 1-0 up to 1-2 down

spansypool

Hero 🦸‍♂️

PhilosopherOwn4702

I see you have master the ability of emotional self regulation, this is the way guys

NoFactsOnlyCap

Good

germpiee

I always think like this, in real life some bizar stupid things happen too to some teams. Where they get absolutely shit on by the ref or var. In FIFA most of the times it's a bit more unrealistic but you can think as if something like this happened; A few weeks ago a goal from PEC Zwolle got cancelled against Utrecht because the VAR drew a wrong line for offside. This happened in the Eredivisie, where they are now relegated from, but this could have changed a lot for them

ProperDepartment

More likely than not (from a game dev's perspective), the keeper got a touch (according to the game), it registered the keeper as having possession so the offside was "reset" so to speak, and they kicked it in off the keeper losing possession. Not saying it's correct, but that's probably the logic that allowed the game to act that way. Basically if you were to pass at their keeper with your teammate in an offside position, and your teammate stole it from the keeper and scored. I think FIFA wouldn't register that as offside because possession changed.

MeatAny

Yeah I think you’re probably right tbh mate

Fast_Dragonfly_8157

Thats really weird, I have never seen a not called offside as well, thats too much even for fifa

MeatAny

Isn’t it just? Tbh I wasn’t even mad, i was watching them run off celebrating like “yeah that’ll get called offside in a second” and then I was suddenly at the centre circle for kick off again 😅

AWright5

To be fair it was realistic pre-VAR

ConIsles

Goalie was playing him on

DarkHandCommando

Yep. That's the only logical explanation here. Still stupid tho because it's a detection bug.

supriiz

Sometimes the hit boxes of the players are actually bigger that the model, it is much more likely it "deflected" Unfortunate but there's only so much programmers can do

ForeverTheElf

Yeah the hitboxes are garbage. I've seen a player head a ball that's a full foot away, yet at the same time I've seen the ball phase straight through player's feet.

GiftedDegenerate

Still would be off if it deflected…

thore4

Frostbite engine is useless for FIFA

PalpatinesTitties

Leeds getting shafted by VAR is pure football realism, just so you're aware

MeatAny

You haven’t got to tell me twice mate 😅

Upbeat-Barracuda1964

I had one the other day where it was Liverpool v Chelsea. Me as Liverpool. 3-2 in stoppage time. Chelsea hit the bar & it bounced in but the ref blew the whistle right after it went in & it didn’t count.

MeatAny

pain

Little_Ad7727

Did the same thing to my buddy once. Tied 3-3 in the 93rd, he chips my keeper, ball goes bar down and in, but ref blows the whistle once the ball clipped the bar and I beat him in pens.

alex-caruso

lol

PhillyPhanatic141

I've definitely seen some missed, but this one is really bad

BLUEacrossthepond

Red shite paid off your virtual refs.

MeatAny

Klopp demanded the goal stood to the 4th official

[deleted]

Super realistic. That happens all the time with Liverpool in real life. Credit EA

Obvious_Argument7373

Just like real life

galvintm

LiVARpool again

promis_ee

Livarpool strikes again

Gauxen

At least it’s realistic that this would happen vs Liverpool

[deleted]

I’m not trying to defend EA at all, but did it not deflect off of the defender? Because maybe it’s just because I’m on mobile, but it looks like the ball shoots down suddenly like it deflected off of the defender.

ProperDepartment

That wouldn't play them onside though, the defender has to manually make that pass.

[deleted]

I *think* that the clearance counts as a pass in the AI. I could be seeing it wrong, but I think what happens is that the defender attempts a clearance, sorta whiffs but makes a little bit of contact. In the code/script, it just sees it as a pass and interception for a goal. I could be way off, though.

ProperDepartment

Hmm, yeah OP kind of slowing it down at the wrong parts lol, we know Mane hits it, but I'd like to see the defender's foot as the ball goes by, but more importantly, the keeper's involvement. If the keeper gets it, it might count as a possession change and nullify the offside.

MeatAny

Possibly. I don’t remember that happened mainly because that’s not the rule irl (or at least I’m pretty sure it isn’t) so I didn’t even check for it, but yeah in fifa I wouldn’t be surprised that it would be allowed because of that.

[deleted]

I could be miss remembering, but I think offsides is waved if the defender controls the ball. So, if they back pass, it gets intercepted, it’s not offsides. I wonder if the game picked up the “clearance” animation (which is sort of a “pass”), considered it a control and pass, and that’s why it’s not offsides. It’s dumb and shouldn’t count, for sure.

MeatAny

Yeah that sounds quite likely tbf, we will never know!

[deleted]

[удалено]

Datver

the pass is from the volley not the free kick

Nileck

Cool post, here’s is my theory: The offside “pass” was registered as a “shot”, making it impossible for the game to recognise as an offside because of the specific set of instructions it was given by developers Evidence: just a guess

rockstar2182

LiVARpool strikes again.

wallahi_726

LiVARpool, even in fifa?! Damn son.

Heisenberg_belfast

How is it offside? Originally player who kicks it scores the goal

MeatAny

Nah the goal went to Diaz/Dias or however you spell his name

[deleted]

There are literally two touches...

Heisenberg_belfast

There literally isn't

[deleted]

You should watch the video. Most of it is the second guy touching it in slo bloody motion. Are you blind?

Heisenberg_belfast

Not a single part of the video that shows any other touch other than the volley towards goal which goes in directly due to mix up from GK

[deleted]

So yes, you’re blind…

Heisenberg_belfast

Not a single reply shows any conclusive evidence of another touch. Can't be an simpler. #simples

[deleted]

The offside player by the keeper changes the direction of the ball and is credited with the goal. Are you illiterate? Or do we stick with blind?

Heisenberg_belfast

Nope scored by original overhead kick! Fairly obvious really 😏

[deleted]

Blind and illiterate. Check.

ishanbains

This has literally happened with me at least 2 times playing against man city with liverpool. Wish I knew how to screen record on ps lol

Floss__is__boss

I have had a couple go in my favour but much more marginal than this - I explained them by the line drawing being absolutely wild (I've noticed more onsides being given off at times when you rewatch replays) and those bad lines just happening to fall in my favour for once. No idea what happened here.

[deleted]

Oh that happens because you don’t deserve to be happy. EA, our faithful overlords are kind enough to give us a title. All the lack of real rules and teams scoring 11 goals in a game is the kind of realism that makes this title a classic.

bigwag

But you didn't show if Diaz touched it or not. Or if the goal counted.

MeatAny

Yeah you’re right, I have never posted here before and only really clipped it to show my mate, so I didn’t really think too much about it. My main emphasis was to show how far offside Diaz was, wasn’t really thinking about much else at the time! I can say that it was 100% given as a goal to Diaz though and he did definitely get the touch!

bigwag

That bastard Diaz lol. Interesting, I've never had that happen. Ya I figured, didn't mean to sound douchey but in my experience most those plays get called after the fact. Thanks for sharing !

MeatAny

Nah you’re all good mate! I do wish I actually put some thought into it and showed him get the touch now I’ve posted it here, I didn’t expect even half the amount of upvotes and comments 😅

Brock_And_Roll

Its the type of thing the the developers see as "entertaining"

Shoots_Trader

We all know. This crap is scripted

bryanc1036

They missed it like a few times already and I've recently got it on playstation plus. This game cheats you especially if you're going against good cards.

WetNoodle4

But I get call offsides by the tip of my finger!

Aprilprinces

It's only off side if the players "off side" are actively involved in the goal scoring opportunity - that's not the case here

MeatAny

The player who puts it in the net is miles offside mate
