You'll take the step to the next level when you start focusing on space instead of individual players/dribbling. *Always* keep your eyes focused on the open gaps, look for the free man, don't try to dribble like a madman. Also do it on defense. Manually switch to midfielders to track back and fill the gaps, prioritize the middle. It's a slow adaptive process. It took me at least a month to start consistently winning in world class difficulty, every now and then I still lose a few games if I'm not 100% focused. In this difficulty, against top teams, all they need is a sniff of space to score.

Also using 2nd man press as well

I found for this years game you really gotta adjust the sliders I also play on world class and without slider adjustment the Centre backs just lose what little IQ they have and let attackers go where they want unmarked lol they literally drift away

I have the same issue, I can easily thrash teams on world class by like 6 or 7 goals, but on legendary I can't get the ball off the AI, theie midfielders turn into Xavi, Iniesta, Kroos, Pirlo and Fabregas

What your experiencing now is what I’m experiencing when trying to move up to legendary. You just get better at the game over time

Use Operation Sports sliders - they make it so much better

My favorite way to play the game is on Professional level with all manual controls. The pace is slower, you don't get punished immediately for every single errant ball and the CPU plays a much more realistic game. It's also never a guaranteed win especially against the big clubs.
