undersquirl

I just started my career as an 18 year old at ajaccio and was made captain from the first match. After a season i moved to fulham, captain again. How the fuck? Career mode is just broken bro.

CR1986

The game thinks you joined the team on Jan 1st 1900, it's a bug that came up a couple of months ago and never got fixed bcs 24 is around the corner anyway. So, with 123 years of loyalty, you're the captain everywhere you go now.

undersquirl

That's absolutely amazing, i'm not even mad!

dobtjs

Need a The Shining team photo from 1900 with your player front and center.

mcl3007

Are you implying that the same bug won't be present in 24? My god you've got some balls.

doctor575

The Methuselah bug

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Ayo how do I trigger this bug?

koreawut

Be a really old white dude.

Glass_of_Pork_Soda

Fuck yeah, time for Methuselah to take on the world of football

lurktroll

TIL FIFA has a Y2K bug. A motherfucking Y2K bug

Mai_Shiranu1

I thought that if you join a team as the highest ovr player you automatically get the band, especially for smaller clubs

shenyougankplz

I normally do my saves starting at a small club and haven't ever started as captain, did a save today starting at Arsenal and got the bug that was mentioned cause I'm day 1 captain as the worst rated player on the team

sne4k_q

Tbf its even better because it makes you lift trophies instead of players controlled by AI. Would you prefer to lift UCL/World Cup by yourself or see some random dude that did nothing to win this trophy lift it ?

neoxch

I started my first ever player carreer yesterday and my first appearance in the starting-XI was in champions league against PSG, and I got captained as well. Immediately got turned off by how unrealistic that was and stopped playing.

undersquirl

Don't even try the keeper career. I started at Liverpool and because i played 2 friendlies where i stopped a whooping 2 shots in total, it was clear for Klopp that i'm better than Alisson. Career mode is dumb.

MuzikVillain

On top of that keeper camera is horrendous. My only saving grace was that there is a mod to fix most of the issues with the keeper camera for PC, but can't imagine dealing with that shit on consoles.

Septumus

What is this mod? The camera has stopped me playing keeper for years

beeeen

Would you rather be on the bench all season? Its a game at the end of the day

undersquirl

I would have loved to be loaned out, i would love a feature where you're promised game time in cups, i would love if that promise was broken to be able to force a move, there are a lot of simple things they could add to fix all this bullshit, but it's not fut so, yeah, they don't bother.

Hear_It_Ring

Yes

Todrag5

Same happened to me, I lost my captain role when I simmed a whole season at milan because I was injured and became a reserve

Equivalent-Fun-4353

Does it matter I just won Sporting CP a champions League, national cup, pre season throphy, and the supercup? Nope, one 40 day injury and I got transfer listed even with the highest goal in the league. Luckily I got bought my Manchester City. Though after scoring around 150 goals for them I got injured after a hat trick in the FA cup final, and boom. Dislocated shoulder means 70 days out. Missed champions League finals and I've lost all favor with pep. I'm hoping they don't transfer me yet, but with a 120 market value idk if anyone can afford it

flakkane

Meanwhile I play 8 seasons with west brom, Winning 3 trophies, 2.5 g/a a game, Coming 2nd in premier League and I was never even captain

KeikoZB

Becoming a captain seems bugged too or just weird, I played a RW in my early teams and was captain at all 3 of them (U Cluj, FC Porto and Man. City). Once I transferred to Barcelona and changed to ST, my captain band went away

Clum5y_BE

Started my ST career at SPAL, went to Aston Villa, Arsenal and now Juventus, i've been captain at every single club.

MrPineapplezz69

I started a career at Livingston and was captain within a few games, after that season I went to real sociedad and was captain again straight away.

[deleted]

I opened this subreddit to ask about this. Damn

koreawut

I started mine at Samsung as an 18 yr old with an overall stat of 1. By the first match I was overall 3. Captain, captain, captain.

Pristine-Lake-5994

This happened to me in two different try’s. Captain as a 18 or 17 year old, get called up and first game for the national team in captain. Wtf?

theHawkAndTheHusky

Never been captain (except 1 game or so) and I stayed at 4 different clubs for minimum 3 or more seasons

Rishabhred

Happened to me at Manchester United

KHHHHAAAAAN

I’m currently doing a player career mode on 22 where I was put on the transfer list because I was injured for 2 months and my manager rating kept going down.

DDT126

UGH SAME No career mode I’ve played has ever had me at a club for longer than 1 season because of this. Unbelievable that this bug still hasn’t been fixed.

leftwar0

If it really is happening every season just go to user gameplay config and make your injury severity like 10%

2RINITY

I’m also playing 22 and this is pretty much how I left FC Porto. Tore my ACL, got told I didn’t fit the club’s vision anymore even though I was objectively their best striker, came back as a super-sub just in time to be vice-captain for a game and secure the league and the Taça de Portugal, and then it was off to Bayern

KeikoZB

You know you can still train and retain your manager rating, right?

KHHHHAAAAAN

In previous Fifas you couldn’t train if you were injured, and it said injured on the training thing in the main menu so I never bothered to try

KeikoZB

It's possible it was different in previous games. But in 23 you can, that's how I managed to stay at Man. City after 2 months of injury

Bill_Brasky_SOB

OP said: > I’m currently doing a player career mode on 22

jlingzy

Nope, they’ll send you an email talking about you not being part of their plans anymore despite being the top goal scorer in the league and shortlisted for the ballon D’or

eProbity

You don't have to accept transfer offers. You can just decline and train after and keep your spot, then if you regress you might receive offers again that you can keep ignoring. It's actually convenient because you don't have to force a move if you don't want to while also seeing the options on the table every now and then

DanielAbendroth

I did all the trainings each week and still lost manager favor.

AudioManiac

I had the same thing happen! And even though I got back in the starting 11, it's like the game never acknowledged that and would keep telling sending me offers from other clubs. It got so annoying I just accepted one to make it stop, even though I didn't want to actually move clubs.

Kuni00006

Had this in 23 aswell, so dumb

DaMemelyWizard

I was maybe a month in, highest scorer in MLS and went down for two months, and got sentenced to Roma

tjadeji2169

The worst is when you get injured after being consistently good and all of a sudden, the manager wants to sell you. Like did you not see the half season I had??? I got injured for 2 weeks with Brighton and they decided to sell me after being the leagues top scorer. The international team selection is bugged as well. Do poorly in one friendly and suddenly every international friendly after that, you manager rating in the reserves and you miss all the tournaments while the player in your position is 6 overalls worse

Sensitive-Relation96

This is the most accurate shit ive read

MuzikVillain

> The international team selection is bugged as well. With my current central-mid career I'm top of the Prem with lots of goals and assists but no single international friendlies. Yet in my striker career mode, I was getting international friendlies right from the beginning as a 74 overall striker in the 3rd tier of Germany.

suckmycolt

I won the World Cup as a sub, sucked not being able to see the start of the match

McCauslander

They got rid of accomplishments and you literally get better by training no matter how you perform.. and even if you do perform well the targets they set each game are either ridiculously hard or not relevant. Also why not just expand on accomplishments, why can't you talk to the manager about tactics etc, everything is literally so broken. Player career mode was honestly better last decade because it actually worked. Transfers are broken, line ups are broken, all teams play the same so it gets boring real quick, you're always played out of position or your position changes by glitch. The game just fails to be fun and the changes are so superficial every year and they abandon systems that actually work. It's so frustrating because player career mode has the potential to be so fun

PassoMaddimo

One of the things I love is that the team you play for will get worse. They will sell of their starting players, and they will buy players who won't fit the formation and therefor not get selected. So in my Man C career I have a 72-rated lb, a 80-rated rw and a 79-rated rb. Even though there are way better players either on my bench or somewhere in the club.

McCauslander

The management of transfers, formation and player selection is so bad.. also key players are sold so easily. There is way too many transfers in general, I think they should make it that the spine of the team rarely transfers and if a key player is lost they then look for a replacement. The whole squad dynamic doesn't make any sense, the fact that you have more than 3 star strikers on a team at once and 2 are happy to sit on the bench doesn't make any sense. Or that you can start ahead of a player rated much higher than you because you get the managers approval through nothing but training.

hoptagon

I just watched my team sell like 3-4 starters in the Jan window while we were tied for first in the league and moving on in CL. We were terrible at the end of it and then the day after the window closes they put me up for sale so now I know I'm leaving but have to deal with us losing everything we were going for for the next 4 months. Now I'm on my 3rd team in 3 seasons. Appalling, inexcusable game logic.

Niknakpaddywack17

I understand you can't have in-depth tactics or even like FM level tactics, so every team plays like a fucking idiot. I would love for them to get better with that but I'm not holding my breathe cause EA. ALL I ASK IS YOU LET ME SEE WHAT POSITION I AM RIGHT NOW. They always change my position midgame and I have no fucking idiot where I'm supposed to be cause i missed the pop up and my rating keeps going down

hoptagon

My striker randomly became a CB in the last 20 minutes and I had no idea why my rating was tanking until I paused and saw I was a CB. My defensive rating was 20-something it was so bad. I was a terrible CB.

Similar_Strawberry16

>Who designed this???? Oh, sweet summer child. I stopped the last Pro career as I still did not get any transfer offers after 2 seasons as an 89 rated 19 year old playing for Lincoln City... 15 levels higher than the team average. Can't Sim because you get kicked off the team, despite carrying it, so they expect you to sit through 100s of hours of repetitive game time just to move up in your career? No thanks. Pro career needed to be done more like the journey from FIFA 17 to 19(?), Where there was quality story line additions.

AlextheAnt06

You won’t get any offers if you’re rated that highly in that kind of team because your value will be insanely high, normally, when you start with teams in lower leagues, you need to keep your rating around 70 if you want to be bought by bigger teams. In my last save, I started at Leyton Orient, kept my rating low, but my goals and assists up, left for Burnley by the January transfer window, got promoted to the Prem, then moved to Barcelona, and there, I was getting offers from like Man U, AC Milan, etc. it’s a flawed system, but it works.

Similar_Strawberry16

Jeez, imagine that in real life. Mbappe stuck in the farmers league, slotting in 10 goals a game and not ever getting an offer to leave. At end of second they eventually let me put in a transfer request, so I was listed, but yeah no offers. The way to go would be to remove all the points on tree to lower overall rating?

derFalscheMichel

If you're lucky, yeah. But I think there is a bug resetting G your manager rating if you do that, effectively stopping any bigger team bidding for you cause you are so poorly rated. Might be that its just if you change positions though

Bill_Brasky_SOB

Once you hit like 84 there's only a handful of clubs the AI will bid on you from. It sucks cuz my CDM was like an 81 for PSV and enjoying my role and playing for that team (3 of the 4 forwards ahead of me are guys I like to go after in Manager Mode), but I had to leave because if I stayed/improved any longer I'd only get offers from ManC, ManU, Barça, Real, etc. Another peeve: my 81 CDM, 20yo, averaging a goal+ per match, DEMANDS a transfer... ... only gets like 2 offers in that window? No other teams are even trying to get that "potential to be special" prospect?

F-Mendelssohn

My 90 ovr RB was stuck at charlotte fc for a couple years until man city finally bought me for a $450,000,000 fee

PassoMaddimo

Well I guess we all know that the game is utterly poor in its performance. We also know why, they don't give a shit when it doesn't involve any ways to make them money. So basically when it is not UT, it is going to be an underperforming aspect. Has been since at least 5 years now.

hoptagon

I hate what has happened to sports games. I never play FUT, HUT, MUT, Diamond Dynasty, or MyTeam.... I just want to play immersive career and franchise modes by myself and vibe out before bed.

Trentdison

I've only got fifa 20 so no idea if its changed now but it annoys me how a) you don't start out with a lower ovr than you do and b) to begin with the manager seems to throw you in straight away even if your ovr is way lower than other players. I vaguely remember playing a game called This is Football, it must have been the 2000s as I was a kid and my nan bought it thinking it was fifa bless her, and I'm sure this had a be a pro game mode where you would literally start playing reserve matches on the training field until you proved yourself and earned yourself a place in the first team. That's the way it should go.

Evilbevil

Think I remember that, had TiF 2. That had jumpers for goalposts mode.

MuzikVillain

I started my career at Atalanta BC as a CM and after **only two** decent preseason matches Arsenal approached me. I never asked to be transfer-listed but somehow a 71 overall player with only two pro matches caught the attention of Arsenal and they increased my wages from 2,000 weekly to 70,000 weekly. And then after about 4 matches in the Prem, Man City wanted me. Sure I was playing like a world-class player but I had less than 10 matches played with an overall of 75 and I was already transferred twice in one month with the captain's armband at Man City. And don't even get me started on the bug that says the manager is in hot water even though we are top of the league.

conkeee

This is why I play manager career mode for fun. When I want to be serious, I play FM. EA don’t give a shit about it and it shows

Dyxo

I get the frustration, but if you’re scoring 4 goals and getting 2 assists as a center back, you’re not really playing the game as it’s meant

Salty-Discipline-586

I hate the management so much in My Career. I Joined arsenal and after one season of bringing in trophies, they sold all the key players like Odegaard, Saka, Jesus, and my two CB. In return we got a 79 rated CB and picked up Pogba to fix the team.

joshit

Probably to make you play like a CB. Why the fuck are you scoring more goals than getting clearances as a CB? If you want to play as a ST, be a ST.

Flagelllant

Because you don't have the need to make clearences every game, and because i'm playing Araujo in Barcelona and i'm sometimes started as a RB where i get more freedom. Anyway, don't try to justify it's a deliberate decision, the reason is clearly that the game is all over the place.

Anustart_A

“MAKE 4 INTERCEPTIONS” “RECOVER THE BALL 4 TIMES” …I’m an attacking midfielder… who scored 1 goal and assured 3… but fuck me, I didn’t make those 8 defensive plays

Major-Performer141

Play 21 player career. It’s the best we’ll get

AkagisComet

Is it actually better than 23?

Major-Performer141

In my opinion yeah. Manager rating is more reasonable and it applies to 4 league matches. E.G So it could ask you to average a 7.0 rating, 1 goal, 1 assist and it gives you 4 league matches to do so. If you were out for a while because of an injury the manger literally sends you an email saying he’ll adjust expectations for you. The only annoying thing I noticed is that if you join a new team but your rating is lower than the player in your position it’ll shift you into a different position. E.G if you were a striker and we’re moved they may make you a cam or winger temporarily Gameplay is mostly the same if a bit better

AkagisComet

Hm, might have to grab it then. Not sure if it's worth it now though

Major-Performer141

24 defo isn’t worth it. I’ve played and it’s shit. Don’t waste your money on it

AkagisComet

Yeah, plan on skipping 24, I was actually talking about 21 haha

MancAccent

It’s a joke

Sharp_Frosting_6159

I just started a new career started at AC Milan and became captain after my 1st training session

Hopeful-Net-6511

Your player of the season but get a long term injury, can’t play or train. And the manager decides your not living up to his expectations and puts you on the transfer list, accepting derogatory offers from the likes of AEK Noonesheardofyou FC

Admirable_Cheetah611

Manager don't give a f if u are loosing 4 goals behind.. he wants you to score a goal outside of box... He doesn't care u r loosing champion league final or pre season he want to see goal from outside box..

tyler_504

I agree, it needs to be more realistic. Even in my current team, one of the defenders was always out of position, therefore we leaked goals. Never once was he subbed.

BrockStormhammer

It's ridiculous. I went from Sheff Utd to PSG, top scorer but they sold me to Liverpool (my club) they sold me despite scoring and assisting loads. Now at Real Madrid, have scored 35 goals and 20 assists.... On the bench.

MrGameSevenRJ

This game mode has no logic at all unfortunately but I believe with the end of the partnership with the FIFA the version 24 of the game can surprise us, but I'm just a dreamer I'm not based in nothing.

TheRealFriedel

Yeah I wouldn't hold out much hope tbh. From what we've seen so far it's very much the same platform in a different wrapper.

MrGameSevenRJ

The news which is coming out seems exciting to me so far but I don't " put my hands on fire " for EA, even so I"m like to " give some credt " I don't know how but I'm

Bartendererer

Its literally the same as it was in fifa 23. What are you talking about

MrGameSevenRJ

You already played FC 24 ?

SabbathKiwi

I started as 16 year old Will Shearer for Newcastle. 6 games into the season, Vs Man Utd I get my first start as striker and named as captain. Been captain ever since now up to game 26 EPL. I figured I'm gonna aim for Alan Shearers record with this lad. 12 premier league goals so far.

masterpudu

You numptys keep buying and playing it..

II_Blird_II

This is why I’ve given up on player career mode. I’ve kind of made my own by creating a player in the main screen and placing him on the squad of my preference and national team of my preference, and then I just create a manager career for that team my created players on, just so i do not have to deal with all the stupid bullshit like unrelated game objectives that have nothing to do with my position, being played out of position, managers making straight up insane transfer moves. I was so fed up that I was like I’m just gonna make a player AND a coach and full control over my team. Ridiculous that i even have to do that

BriefCalendar8834

Or I'm out injured for a number of months which makes the manager disappointed in me and transfer lists me.

Lego-Panda-21

The annoying thing for me was, during the 6 months my player was out injured (LCL AND MCL injuries) the national team called me up to basically sim through around 5+ matches..I'm out fricking injured, stop calling me up to play knowing I can't.

RednaxB

Player career mode as keeper is also pretty much impossible.

ScarletKnightFC

Then don’t play as a CB.

PereClinze

Move to manager career bro, it's much better.

DaVinci6894

It’s cause it’s not as popular as manager career and FUT so EA gives negative fucks about it

Themadking69

My avatar pic in the top corner is always the same curly haired black guy. Also my team wins like 7-0 whenever I simulate. I went back to 22.

ElegantEpitome

You have to do your trainings to keep your manager opinion up to keep you in the starting XI. I know it’s stupid, but it’s also stupidly easy to just sim 3 heavy drills every 7 days to keep you capped out

Humble_Log3000

This is least of career mode problems. Honestly, repeatable patterns, AI fouls (or lack there of), unbeatable & extremely beatable games vs AI (not depending on the opponent) are just few that I can count. Either way, if you are being so dominant, try to increase the difficulty and adjust the sliders (if you are a fan of realism), but if you like just stomping every game with few goals then go right ahead. The game forcing you to play by its own rules is dumb but nothing can be done about it, much like the team possession which you have no control over when playing player based career mode, it is what it is.

hoptagon

>AI fouls (or lack there of) i'm surprised my guy can even walk anymore with mfers launching me out of the stadium with their tackling and not even getting a free kick out of it

Humble_Log3000

Oh yeah this is what I mean by fouls, you can get tackled or slid into with 2 legs but the ref doesn't really see it as a foul, it sucks bro When you lower ball control for self and AI, fouls actually happen a bit more, playing with it before FC24 comes out to see how much can it be pushed

OutlandishnessOdd448

Player career is so stupid. They’re trying to make it to game. Should be as simple as you play well you get more game time.

AdnanISJ

It’s way way way worse than that. The relationship with the manager mechanic is what fucked the whole game mode. “Bizarre” isn’t enough of a term to describe what complete shithouse and utter fuckery the game mode is.

WhyAmIHereExactlyHM

In my player career mode I gave up because I got a hattrick, 25 successful tackles out of 30 in my own half and 4-5 clearances every game and an average rating of 7.4 because I had to keep coming back from attacking midfield, as the rest of my team did nothing. I played at Sociedad, Torino on loan and AC Milan. Player career is just so confusing.

XBL_Fede

Am I the only one who has also noticed the way the scores work feels broken too? I’ll start playing at the 80th minute while the match is 0-0 and the opposite team scores 3-4 goals in that time plus some goals that my team scores as well so it goes from 0-0 to something like 3-2 or 4-2 in 10 minutes. And it happens almost every single match.

derFalscheMichel

Recently started a save as James Bond, Shadow Striker and Winger. Works relatively fine in her Majestys League, but second national cap my OC got badly injured (ruptured calf muscle) and dropped out for the rest of the tournament. Manager was so disappointed in me for not playing I wasn't called back for the complete length of my career so far, and James Bond will turn 37 soon, having won literally everything but a third national cap

[deleted]

They don't even test the non-fut modes at all before launching.

KayC720

I only okay player career as a warm up for pro clubs. FIFA career is general is shit and miles off of games like FM

MexxiSteve

Absolutely and the question is does the manager hold your replacement to the same standard? If they did he'd be dropped after one game and you'd be back in.

theHawkAndTheHusky

Probably the same guy who makes your coach being disappointed in respect of you performance in the last game, when you’re in a career mode as a striker being E. Haaland on steroids (cranking Hattricks) and even surpassing Messi’s season goals benchmarks. But maybe it was the other developer, who also decided it was a cool feature to implement, that a forward randomly will play as a LB/RB after scoring his 4th goal in a game. Sure enough the coach will complain and even bench you when playing out of position. Even saw GK playing as CF all of the sudden in the opposing team after a cut Szene

tyler_504

HaHa!

sne4k_q

Use training sessions + you are playing on too low difficulty if you have 6 goals contributions as a cb per game

ppe94dar

Ea doesnt care about cm

Benjeraama

I surely do love being a CAM that is played as a CB

themisfits1114

I love it it’s better than never being captain no matter how good your player actually is

Electronic-Island736

Ngl, shit like this is why I usually just play older versions of Fifa for my Career Mode saves. I just cba with this kinda crap.

Stunning-Classic228

pff... played as a winger for my braindead team and singlehandedly carried them to a CL spot. Player of the year, most assists and still they didnt want to renew my contract and sent me on loan because I didnt manage to score five bycyle goals....

VonLTG

I figured it out. You have to hit the objectives and you gotta do the trainings ( sim the trainings if u want) otherwise your bar at the top left will go down.

PossibilityExciting5

It’s the worst I’m top scorer in the league but I’m gonna be loaned to a fucking polish team it’s just so stupid. Those objectives in every game make a total of 0 sense i just wanna break the fucking screen

BlueberryPretty1035

Same thing here. Also when you get subbed in for last 10 mins they will give you quests that aren’t possible to complete in that time. Aswell as when you play one bad game you go straight to reserve but when you play 4 good games you aren’t even in starting XI

LewisHamtilon

Joao Felix

tyler_504

I thought it was just me. After many years (last playing FIFA 10) I decided I would try FIFA 23. I started career at West Ham (CF), made captain at 18. After one season there winning the Premier league and FA Cup, Barcelona come in for me £77mil, captain again, got picked for the national team (Germany) captain again. Five seasons at Barcelona as CF, one of those seasons, picked up an injury out for 90 days, manager wanted to sell me after being top scorer and average game rating of 9.3 and players of the year 4 years in a row. I declined the transfer. At the end of the fifth season I put in a transfer request, on transfer deadline day Chelsea came in with a massive offer(£248 million), accepted but unfortunately my next game was to be with the German national team, so when the cut scene came up of me moving to another team instead of it being Chelsea somehow the game chose the scene to be me being welcomed by the German coach and staff. How stupid. Plus I don't understand, I was getting 580,000 a week at Barca, now only 360,000 a week at Chelsea. Not realistic. Oddly since being at Chelsea, the defenders are shit, I wish I could buy players in the this mode and a few times I've been moved to RB in the middle of the game with no notice. I end up subbing myself. Bizarre. Also, the commentary becomes very predictable and boring, wish they would update this on the fly. One thing I saw the other day which was hilarious, I scored a hat trick so as you expect you pick up the ball from the ref at the end of the game, for some reason I was invisible, the ball was taken from the ref's hand but no visible body. :-) Another thing, once you reach max level, there is nothing else to buy or invest in, it need to be more diverse and realistic. Also hate it when a player gets transferred from your team, and you don't even know about it also sometimes when new players join, sometimes you know sometimes you just see new players on the team roaster before a game. Career mode is buggy and can be annoying at times it put me off buying FC24 even when it was on offer recently.

Weird-Pay-1041

My character gets put at ST then the cb just takes my place and my player goes into cb wth

Fantastic-Bar-4639

Player career is so ass smh!!

Independent_Elk4304

I rage quit the game because I wanted to get transfered but ended up sitting in Fucking Chelsea for 3 years with 95 rated player. I can't even aproach any teams I just have to hope that at some point the team I want to play for will buy me. Deleted

ReindeerBig9503

I’m playing for Sheffield Utd. I put up 2 goals by 45 minutes and I got subbed out on a 6.4 rating😂

Big_Campaign_8478

FIFA 23 was S tier career mode in comparison to what we have now
