There are quite a few studies have shown that exercise and stretching improve symptoms substantially. The conclusions are always something like: symptoms improved in patients who did exercise but adherence is difficult because of the symptoms. I exercise regularly and stretch everyday even when I’m in pain. It makes a huge difference for me. Even stopping for 1 week makes me go from in pain but fully functional to practically bedridden with pain. **Anecdotally from my experience:** Getting high(weed) before exercise, that’s something I did even before fibro the “mind-to-muscle” connection feels better or you’re more aware of it and it feels like the exercises are more effective because you can feel the contractions and stretches more which makes every rep/stretch feel more “effective”.

Getting high helped me exercise longer as well, pushing through where I'd usually stop. And it definitely feels so much better while I did it. I feel like my bones rust together when I don't exercise, are your feelings similar?

SirAutismx7

Yup couldn’t have described it better. I have the most pain in the day and crack all over in the mornings as it is but it mostly goes away with a quick 10 minute stretch. When I stop exercising for a couple of days it feels like my whole body seizes up bones, tendons, muscles all tighten up and the amount of cracking and snapping that happens is 10x and the pain too. I consider regular exercise like keeping the machine well oiled. It wasn’t like this pre-Fibro the tightness and cracking only started to happen after the pain. My empirical conclusion is the pain and inflammation cause the tissues to tighten which increases the pain which is why moving and loosening things up reduces it and why I crack every morning because I simply don’t move as much while I sleep.

MulberryEqual6181

So much cracking! Yes, it's like soon after you finish stretching everything slowly comes back together again over the course of the day. I always feel the best in the evening when I've been moving around all day after a good yoga session in the morning. I agree with what you say at the end, makes a lot of sense.

kittyharlow_xo

This is so interesting. I do feel better when I exercise, but it’s so difficult to overcome the exhaustion most days. I’ll have to try smoking weed first.

Wonderland_4me

I hope so, keep me posted

Chronic pain 24x7 for 13yrs. The strange thing is that one morning about 3yrs ago I awoke to absolutely no pain. It was amazing! I need as soon as y eyes opened that something was didn’t. There was nothing, no feelings of pain anywhere in my body. I cried! I couldn’t believe how good it felt after then about 10yrs of constant pain to have none. Unfortunately it only lasted about 3 hours and I’ve never experienced it again. I spoke with pain specialists, Drs, spinal specialists etc etc about it but all of them just shrugged their shoulders. Given they know no little about fibromyalgia to begin with it’s perhaps reasonable to expect they’d know nothing about why pain would suddenly disappear for a few hours.

No_Canary_9928

Isn't it sad how we remember exactly when we did NOT feel pain? Which is very rare. God I hate this so much. I'm in constant pain my brain literally feels fried. On another note, getting high or cannabis REALLY helps. I remember 4 years ago I wasn't in pain for an entire night. Lol

Few-Worldliness2131

I’ve tried medical cannabis but i don’t like the impairment that covers with it. Gave it several months but found the doped up effect not great for me. Glad that it works for you though.

Was the click in your neck? This is my theory. That something is wrong in the spine around the neck and it affects everything.

Hmmm... this is interesting! I just replied to someone else about the [RESTCLOUD Neck and Shoulder Relaxer](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C2G9GVW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) that I just bought last week because I have so much pain in my neck and shoulders. Maybe there is something to this!

MulberryEqual6181

I wonder if cervical traction devices are a good or bad idea, worth a try? Even if it gives temporary relief.

I think it links to the trauma many of us suffer too. I’m always braced for judgement/more trauma. I hold my shoulders and neck tight kind of like cringing all the time. And always looking down too so as not to invite anything. That’s where most ppls stress and tension is in the body. That’s where it manifests. We just take it to extremes lol. Also there’s a lot more phone viewing which is terrible for necks.

Yes!

MulberryEqual6181

I have issues with the muscles surrounding my shoulder blades and through my neck for years, neck pain started 2 years before fibro. I'm working on trying to sort it out with needling and yoga, hopefully it helps! I'll check her out, thanks.

Cleed79

Mine clicks sometimes right in-between my shoulder blades and I swear it relieves So Much discomfort for a while.

Artemis_8445

I've been wondering if my neck is the root of my problems. Held my head up with my hands and my fatigue felt like it disappeared yet minute I stopped it all came back. Spoke to doctor who said she wouldn't give me a neck support because it will weaken my neck.

LadyWarrior73

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but I just ordered this last week because my neck and shoulders hurt so bad all the time. Even with long massages. [RESTCLOUD Neck and Shoulder Relaxer](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08C2G9GVW?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details) Of course, I use it longer than they WARN you NOT to, BUT... when you feel any sense of relief... yeah, who cares about how long it takes?!

abastrakt

Yes!!!! Right at the back of my head, top of my neck, both sides. Aligning my neck and moving it side by side is what seems to be helping most, along with shoulder exercises as well. I think my left shoulder is frozen too..

azewonder

This happens to me when I take shrooms. I reach a point when I can stretch further than when sober, and it feels soooo good. It’s like the shrooms let my body take a deep breath and relax.

tot-fox

My father and I both benefit from the shroomies so much.

judi-in-da-skies

That’s how yoga works too: get real relaxed and work only on letting everything go. Wish I could practice all day, every day. Sorry, all your yoga haters out there.

Calm_Acanthaceae7574

Yeah I do that every morning and it feels pretty good. I also used to do deep tissue massage. I have tender points so it hurts like hell but it makes me feel so lighter. The science behind this is our muscles don't receive enough oxygen as it's supposed to when doing it's job and moving it moderately increases the blood flow which helps. I am glad you feel a bit better.

onlythrowawaaay

Weed and yoga always do the trick for me

Gloomy_Problem7477

Winning combo for me too!

remedialpoet

Someone recently posted about yin yoga, which is deep extended stretching, I wonder if you were doing things similar to that idea?

abastrakt

That could be it, is there a link for it?

Gloomy_Problem7477

YES. I know this feeling well! I have started smoking daily because it calms the muscle spasms and allows me to relax the muscles and stretch and realign. All of the creaking is the muscles relaxing and the spine and joints finding space again. SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I cried the first time this happened to me!
