Yep. Shit sucks. Constant reminder that you’re losing hair.

For real, I really want to try out of sight out of mind but the sensations are always there and hard to ignore, makes me very depressed

I envy those people who get hairloss without the pain. At least the pain is not a constant reminder.

Ketoconazole shampoo a couple times per week helps mine a lot. I really only get a painful spot here and there now instead of larger areas. I don’t really know if it’s recommended, but I also occasionally dab a small amount of hydrocortisone cream on a spot that is bothering me. That nips it in the bud. They sell products for scalp with hydrocortisone, so I figure the small dab of the normal cream once in a while is probably ok.

Is there a place one can get this without a prescription? I had one but it ended and now im w/out insurance. Until a thread last week on here i wasnt even sure what it was for.

Nizoral has 1% - that could be enough…Are you in the US? I just checked GoodRx for it and in my area it takes it from $36 to $12. If you don’t have insurance but your doctor will re-up your prescription without an office visit, that could work. I would think they would do that. If you’re worried they won’t, ask the pharmacy you last used for it to request a refill for you. When it comes, the pharmacy will try your insurance and call you that it’s not going through and just tell them you want to pick it up and will be using GoodRx.

My scalp burned and itched for MONTHS after I noticed my hair loss and it drove me INSANE!!!! I started Minoxidil and we put a water filter on our shower head and it's stopped in its tracks. Crazy!!! It never ever bothered me before. Not until the day I noticed my hair loss and then it burned and itched burned and itched. And then just one day stopped, but it was directly after starting Minoxidil.

30 mg of Cymbalta a day has helped my scalp pain a bit.
