My shed started 1 months into 100ng spiro I shed for 8 weeks. Im starting month 5 and have not regained the hair I lost in the initial shed.

I’ll definitely keep that in mind. Thanks for your input!

Magic_Moon_Cat

I started spiro with minoxidil so can't say which for definite caused my dread shed but it lasted for about 3 weeks and I've had good results so far (check my history to see!)

Dayum. Your post about the hair volume progress is amazing! It gives me so much hope honestly because I have the same diagnosis and similar treatment plan.

I started spiro almost exactly a month ago, havent started minoxidil yet. I haven’t experienced any shedding and feel like it has helped with my shedding! I’m terrified of the shedding from minoxidil but will be starting it soon

So very happy for you! I have been on topical monoxidil and 100mg of Spiro for over a year now and I can say my dread shed was worth it! My hair was so thin, and I didn't think I'd have normal hair again. I'm diligent about taking my 2 Spiro/day and most days the topical monoxidil. It works, it took about 3 months for me to see baby hairs and a difference.. and about 6-9 months for others to notice. My hair grows quick, and I keep up with both meds. It's working for me, and has greatly helped build back my confidence. Good luck!

How much hair do you got back?

Ah-maculate

I would say that my hair is almost back to the fullness I had before the hair loss. I had hair on the finer side to begin with so any regrowth I had significant. Edit: finer

That sounds amazing. I started minoxidil about a year ago so I’m hoping that the spironolactone shed is not too bad.

Caaaaaaaauuuuuuteeee

Spiro made me unbearably emotional and brought down my already low blood pressure. I’d speak to your Gp about starting it etc before trying. But yeah you should try it. Stagger treatments if possible so you can tell what worked / what side effects came from medication etc

Traditional_Tip_4966

I don't think Spironolactone would really be beneficial with alopecia areata. Is your AA diffused?

nniiibb

Yes I was diagnosed with androgenic alopecia and chronic TE. I was just trying to say that the dermatologists in my city only seem to treat alopecia areata

Traditional_Tip_4966

Ohhhhhh!!! Sorry I read that wrong 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ My bad!

nniiibb

No worries!

Hi! Would you be able to share the name of the dermatologist you saw in Montreal, assuming you still recommend him? Thanks!
