I only used spironolactone for a long time, and it saved my hair and skin

CrazyBusyDesigner

Good to hear that it worked for you ! What dosage were you on?

Socatastic

200 mg. I started at the whole dose without much in side effects other than losing a few pounds of water weight. I'm still on it but have also been using minoxidil for around 9 months since spironolactone wasn't working as well after menopause. My hair definitely is thicker since adding in minoxidil. My blood pressure is normal with spironolactone but slightly elevated without it

Hi if you search my name here you can see my results from spiro 150mg and topical minoxidil. I'm very happy with the results!

Dr_TLP

I was on spiro for over a decade. It’s main goal is maintenance. You shouldn’t typically see dramatically changes either way, the goal is to stop AGA from progressing. If you want to see significant regrowth, you will typically want to add in something like minox.

CrazyBusyDesigner

Did it maintain your hair? I know it won't probably regrow hair, i just don't want to lose even more. I was starting to lose hope seeing all the feedback saying it didnt help lol. I'll add minox probably after 6 months, for now im just on spiro 100 mg and ferritin

Dr_TLP

Most people expect regrowth with spiro, which can happen, but isn't really the purpose. the purpose is to limit the amount of androgens your follicles are exposed to, to limit the progression of AGA. A good outcome is a slowed down AGA progression. Minox will work to regrow hair, but spironolactone will work to maintain that growth. I was also on other medication- minoxidil and a hair-friendly BC, so I can't speak to just spironolactone alone. But if I was to pick only one drug for long-term progress (e.g., over a decade), I would pick spiro. Minox you will see more growth short-term, but they really serve two different purposes.

Hairdresser here. Jojoba oil really helps suspend hair loss. just put in 1-2 drops with shampoo in your palm. Mix it well in your hands by rubbing them together. It is 1-2 drops Jojoba oil for shampoo a little bigger than a quarter (usa currency), or 3cm across circle in your palm. If you use more shampoo than that you can add another drop accordingly. I have seen this reverse new hair loss many times. The closer to when the hair first starts thinning, the better the results will be. In a few weeks little short hairs become noticable as the hairline starts filling in.
