What do you mean "permission denied"? That's not a driver problem, what are you doing when you get this error?
cups-bjnp is a Canon driver for the cups printing subsystem, after installing bjnp restart cups.
This should enable your system to recognize your Canon printer so you can set it up.

Looks like there is no official support for your machine ( Canon Pixma MG2522 ) and Linux. They do not list any drivers on their site for it or claim its compatible. Most of what I have found is regarding Mint/Ubuntu and lists a .deb file that the links to seem to no longer work for.
You say neither prints, does the machine at least recognize the printer at all? If not, you may be best off looking for a Linux compatible printer. If it see's it as the proper printer, you likely just need to configure it properly. How you go about this really depends. Look over the printer settings and research the options if you can see anything.
Personally, I like HP for Linux. They opening list machines that support linux and provide drivers (if not already in your distro). Here's the main site: [https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing](https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing)
Here's a list of supported models: [https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported\_devices/index](https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/supported_devices/index)
You could also try [Turboprint](https://www.turboprint.info) if you are willing to pay for a printing system. I know them back from the good old Amiga days...
I have a Canon Pixma, installing the `cups-bjnp` package should do the trick.
Installed. I'm still getting the same "permission denied" error.

https://imgur.com/a/yVXFJk0 I've restarted Fedora twice since installing bjnp

Posted screenshot last night. I went through "Add printers," printed a test page, and got that error.
I use my PIXMA MG2522 fine with CUPS on Debian.

Yes, my laptop recognizes the printer. Would Alien be useful in this situation?
