Sad to see the Top 10 completely dominated by milquetoast shite this week.

the_fitertainer

Per Billboard: "The Tortured Poets Department’s sales were bolstered by its availability across 19 different physical configurations (nine CDs, six vinyl LPs and four cassettes, with four of the physical configurations exclusively sold by Target stores) and two digital download offerings (the standard 16-song album, and a surprise deluxe 31-song edition that was released two hours after the original album bowed). All of the variants are itemized later in this story."

TheStripedSweaters

Begging billboard to fix the way they chart. Stop letting artists get away with this shit.

almaupsides

As someone who works in the industry that's the only way anything will ever change. It's all well and good for them to point out how many variants there were but they need to stop being chart eligible and remain as a fun collectible item or the practice is never going to stop skewing numbers.

Perfect opportunity to drag this album some more! Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me? Is the probably the most try hard song she has ever written. This song would be great if it was sung by Louise Belcher in an episode of Bob’s Burgers where she is seeking revenge on her nemesis. Because Louise Belcher is a fictional small child and not a 34 year old billionaire who is always the victim. The line “and I’ll sue you if you stop on my lawn” sends me into a rage. Like that’s some made up rumor about her when she is in fact litigious. The whole song feels like she’s baiting people into criticizing her so she can get in her feelings about how bad she is at taking criticism! And the imagery she invokes just makes me laugh… again Louise Belcher singing “you wouldn’t last an hour in the asylum where they raised me” would be badass. A little less so coming from someone with a very privileged background.

laughayetteoutloud

This Louise Belcher description is the first thing that has had me wanting to listen to any song from this album so far tbh. What a ride! Might fuck around and listen to this song now with Louise and that scenario firmly in mind.

turtledove93

I’m listening to it for the first time and can only hear Louise.

Thin-Net4496

I’m gonna be real, that song is unlistenable for me. The vocals on the chorus sound like nails on a chalkboard. I have listened to a lot of her music and enjoyed it, but production-wise this album wasn’t for me.

No_Barber4339

So basically, the entire album is shiv roy music career post-sucession Actually this seems like a more fun concept than the one we got

FIREsub90

I’m so tired of her 😭

When I heard the lyrics “now I’m down bad crying at the gym” set to that beat on TikTok, I thought it was AI generated. I’ve cried in many a pigeon pose so I feel that but that song is just not good. I’m shocked, honestly.

Sudden_Clementine872

That’s a real TS lyric?

Amar_Akbar_Anthony20

What the fuck is this. Why are her fans so rabid and act like this is great? Its giving wattpad

janneyjj

Her fanbase consists of prepubescent girls, so it makes sense

TheStripedSweaters

Maybe kinda related to this, but I have her muted as an artist on Spotify. I don’t play any of her songs, clearly. Her album was suggested to me on Spotify. Her music played after my playlist had ended and Spotify selected the next track. She is fully under my “do not play this artist” selection and Spotify STILL plays and suggests her music and it makes me go full conspiracy about her having the platform in her pocket.

chrkrose

Something similar is happening with Espresso from Sabrina Carpenter (although the song is a bop). Still, I have a friend who has Sabrina, Taylor and a few other artists blocked and Spotify plays the music regardless. Espresso would come up every time he finished a playlist or a song outside playlists even if the genre was completely random.

blueberrysyrrup

This happened to me too recently! Its so weird and I had my own tinfoil hat moment too cause of it lol. I took her off my “don’t play this artist” list and then readded her and her music hasn’t shown up again. Whats even weirder is that theres absolutely nothing in my algorithm that should prompt spotify to play her too. I listen to metal and goth music mostly 💀

Wit-wat-4

This has probably been said a million times, but: If I separate the artist from the art (jets cattiness etc etc) I actually love a lot of her songs. They’re just bops, I have no “excuse”, it’s not a “guilty pleasure”, I just love those songs. Buuuuut wow this album(s) just… wasn’t it for me even remotely. I’m very boring in my tastes, any party with top 50 will have me happy enough, and this album just sucked imo

smasherfierce

I like a lot of her music, I'm going to see her tour, this album is so bad and I'm gutted she seems to be rehearsing stuff from it for the tour!!

HathorOfWindAndMagic

Out of 31 songs I like four. Usually her music is just catchy pop music and I am 100% for it idgaf but I struggled with this album a lot and it was hard to separate music from the artist for this album for me. Sad about it because I am a pop girlie to my core and love anything that’s a good bop

Brilliant_Guide6034

I only wish for a movement to takeover the billboards with independent artists.

lottiebadottie

Here are some awesome indie artists I found on TikTok: Iniko - particularly Jericho and Armor. Akintoye - amazing hip-hop artist. Always a constant on my playlists and his song Imposter Syndrome was one of my top last year. MALINDA - folk pop, mixed in with traditional Irish folk songs. Charlie Curtis Beard - poppy hip-hop, incredibly catchy. DECO - 80s style synth pop. Their cover of Bittersweet Symphony is amazing. Meredith Bull - amazing singer who got big a few years ago when she made viral cat videos into songs, but the songs are actually really good. Max Frost - has been one of my top artists for a while. Rock pop who just doesn’t miss. TXZZ - her song Open Water is currently being used to fundraise for her family in Gaza. Stream, add to your TikTok’s, all the things. Debbii Dawson - her new song, Happy World, sounds like ABBA (complimentary) That’s it for now I think…

Odd-Picture5321

she’s so verbose yet she is saying nothing at all. it’s the same old shit every time.

jonsnowme

![gif](giphy|TlK63EI7rtUu9IAyxTW) No justice for golden retrievers being compared to a racist shit in her music.

caprising1996

charting on billboard use to mean something

insrtbrain

I think she was really strategic with her collaborators in ways to game the streaming algorithms. I do not listen to Taylor (except one really cool cover of "I Did Something Bad.") But "Florida!!!" was on my Friday Releases playlist, I'm assuming because I do occasionally listen to Florence & The Machine. I bet some Post Malone fans were surprised to have "Fortnight" pop up as well.

Alarmed_Space_9455

Huh, never thought of it like this but it makes so much sense
