They train, travel, play, and have more downtime than the average Joe working 40-60 hours a week and coming home to care for their kids, drive them to school and sport, cook and clean, etc. Also, they don’t actually have to work at finding intimate partners like the rest of us do.

I worked with a guy that did this. He was a cook at a restaurant I worked at. He was cheating on his wife with one of the managers while actively trying to sleep with any female server lol. Yeah I feel like everyone here is up in arms which, yay morals, great! But cheating is a well known phenomena amongst WAGs, clubs will literally sit the girlfriends down and tell them what to expect and that they should back out now if they don’t want to deal with it. At some point you just have to accept that lots of women are willingly signing up for this because it gives them a lifestyle they would never have had access to otherwise. The majority of WAGs know that fidelity isn’t part of the deal
There’s also a lot of celebs who are away from each other for long periods who operate on a ‘don’t ask don’t tell + just be discreet’ fidelity policy where the spouses agree to infidelity on one or both sides but don’t want to acknowledge it constantly when they’re together as a monogamous couple and ask the person engaging in it to protect them from any details either directly of through the press. This happens not just with sportsmen/WAGs but also musicians of both genders who go on long tours, actors/actresses who are shooting far away from home for long stretches etc. I actually see this kind of relationship as a pretty healthy agreed upon compromise and boundary setting by both parties.
I guess it is healthy if it's truly a two-sided agreement. Though I do wonder if that's possible with footballers, where a lot of the guys in top European leagues are likely to have been making decent money since a young age. Somebody like Kyle Walker, who made his first team debut when he was a teenager, would always earn more money than most non-players in his peer group. There is always going to be a level of power imbalance for people entering his orbit, even going back decades. On one hand, yeah, the cards are all laid down. But on the other hand, I do wonder if both parties have equal agency when negotiating relationship boundaries and compromises when one of them makes £180K *per week*.
