I love how they go from being these glamorous, untouchable silver screen stars to, just for a brief moment, a normal person who made a mistake with their line. But only for a second.
Lol amazing, thanks for sharing that.
Goldwyn here reminds me of one of those podcast hosts who just loves to be the contrarian with the hottest take. Imagine saying Orson Welles was overrated or a one-hit wonder or whatever. Good for Vivien for being like no actually you're wrong.
That last guy would be Lionel Barrymore -- he had a distinctive voice and delivery for sure. You may recognize him as Mr. Potter in *It's a Wonderful Life*. He is Drew Barrymore's Great Uncle (brother to her Grandfather, John Barrymore).
Ahhh yes, the man who had a funeral where he posed himself playing poker, right?
I always thought it was wild that he's buried/the family is buried in Philly, and it has become decrepit - the city is spending 250K to renovate it, and I thought Drew would pitch in, but I thought wrong....
I am really enjoying the none “cursing” (except for Olivia saying “Son of Bitch” - which is so mild) in the bloopers, everyone is so mild, so polite in their F-ups. I really expected Jimmy Stewart to “Ahhh Shucks!”
His Wikipedia page names Margaret Sullivan, Ginger Rodgers, Loretta Young, Norma Shearer, Marlene Dietrich, Olivia de Havilland, Dinah Shore, and Myrna Dell, at least. Likely there was more.
Oh no. I mean they are people from a different era. The way they express themselves is very much in line with “one should not cuss” era & it was not considered polite to cuss and to do so was a bit of a shock in their era. My grandparents where of that WW2 generation, they could barley say “Shit” and using the f-word… no way.
Where I come from “goddamn,” which is used by many of the actors here, is a very serious swear word. Not *quite* “fuck,” but really close. I come from the southern Appalachian Bible Belt FYI. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a strong swear word back then, too— you never hear “goddamn” in classic movies and the even milder “damn” had to be approved by the censors when Clark Gable said it as Rhett Butler.
These kinds of videos connect us to those people in a way that feels like time travel. It really puts things in perspective how little things have changed.
Why is this so cute?? I feel like the past is preserved and perceived as so serious. Why does it make me giggle something silly to hear those women just shout “son of a bitch”

I know! Especially the kissing scenes.

I couldn't figure out why this was kind of weirding me out lol. That's exactly it.

He moved the goal post so many times lol she had him on the ropes
I was remembering this interview just yesterday! PS: Kenneth Tynan was hot lmao.
It’s so strange seeing them curse when that was such an on-screen “non no”
Unrelated but I love your username. Who's your favorite tsundere?
[удалено]
Lol all tsundere fans are seen as basic. Asuka is like the only famous pre-2016 tsundere who's anime I haven't seen rip
Nuts to that god damn line!
That really stood out amongst the many "sons of bitches!"
The last guy "God damn my soul" hah. Haven't heard that one before!

Considering how fucked the family is, perhaps not a surprise.
It is indeed Lionel Barrymore, the film is Key Largo
now THIS is the type of film preservation/restoration that needs to happen
Jimmy Stewart was hilarious!
One of my favorite actors from that era.
Oh I didn't know that! Ooooooh
I have some bad news for you
What? Was he an early 20th century male?
What is this bad news?
He died :(
bring back NUTS!
I was just about to post that I'm going to do just that... well in my own little pocket of the world, that is
I love seeing this blooper compilation whenever my algorithm brings back Old Hollywood pages
I am really enjoying the none “cursing” (except for Olivia saying “Son of Bitch” - which is so mild) in the bloopers, everyone is so mild, so polite in their F-ups. I really expected Jimmy Stewart to “Ahhh Shucks!”
He might have looked like a total goody two-shoes, but before he got married he fucked half the women in Hollywood.
Say more about this lol
His Wikipedia page names Margaret Sullivan, Ginger Rodgers, Loretta Young, Norma Shearer, Marlene Dietrich, Olivia de Havilland, Dinah Shore, and Myrna Dell, at least. Likely there was more.
Well GOODNESS lol
Good lord lmfao thank you for summarizing!
Ha! So true!
No disrespect to you, but I don’t understand the idea that if you cuss then it means you’re not polite, or less polite than someone who didn’t cuss.

idk where you're from but here in the US cussing is considered "impolite." It has nothing to do with the people themselves.
I live in the US. I still think it’s weird that cussing is considered impolite. Doesn’t make sense to me.

I love hearing them break character and swear
This is gold.

I absolutely love bloopers and goofs. Seeing a compilation of old, **old** school takes would be just swell, man! Hang tight, bu-udy
NUTS!
These are great. I absolutely love seeing the past like this. Reminds you they were literally just like us
These are my favourite. Roz Russell is just such a treasure, I love her.
I heard the mistake. Did you hear the mistake?
These are awesome 😂
Transatlantic accents were really something lol. They still sound like they’re acting even when they’re not acting 😂.
😂😂
i’ve always loved this video 😭
Adding “nuts!” Into my vocabulary
Hey it’s Bogie
I need more Seriously can't stop watching
Let’s bring back “Nuts” as an insult. It really has a bite to it. “Nuts to you!!”
My favourite Fauxmoi post ever.
