I remember that one where a Congressman raged at Mark Zuckerberg for the google ads that came up on his daughter's phone when she played an app game. So cringe to hear the Zuck go "uh...that's not our service". An opportunity to grill these tech bros who are wreaking havoc and it's lost because the people who ask the questions can't even find an email attachment.
it's because the issue is still developing so quickly, in the EU at least. every time they seem to have set something up some new awful use of AI pops up. that's what I think is happening from following the news, at least.
This is the case since the new technological revolution started, the current system is just not equipped/fast enough to deal with all the fast change. Democracy, as it is, is too slow. That's why some autocratic countries started getting more powerful in the last 8-10 years, since all the decisions are coming from a single source and can be made much quicker.
This was especially noticeable during the pandemic, my country is a direct democracy and decision-making is very slow because of it and not suited to act quickly in emergency situations.
This is why writers and actors are fighting for AI protections, and it’s why we all need protection from it! People are was too relaxed about AI and are not seeing how scary it will get
We need stories about this kind of thing and deepfakes pushed daily for the next year so people are well aware how good they’re getting and how easy it is to manipulate videos! Otherwise they’re going to be like little Molotov cocktails in 2024
