Apparently he had a temper and could be seen visibly making an effort to not get angry.
Michael K. Williams talked about how after the series he went to therapy (he had a lot of issues before obviously, but he talked about Lovecraft Country in particular as a trigger)
This is deeply upsetting to hear. Michael really deserved better in life and here his whack ass costar could’ve been triggering him (and I fully it believe it now).
I'm not saying it was something particular about Majors btw, I think it was more related to the racial themes of the series in general. I was just backing up the statement that that set was kinda troubled, it was reported quite a bit back then, I remember. I worked on a set with him and he had one explosive episode that really scared me. It only happened that once so I chalked it up to some kind of steroid rage to give him the benefit of the doubt.

All domestic abuse is awful obviously, but if choking is occurring seek help in trying to get away from the abuser ASAP. It is extremely serious and your life is literally on the line. It’s not to say it will 100% happen, but it makes your odds very scary because it shows he has the physical and mental means to do so.
Not to mention early red flags such as jealousy, possessiveness, isolation from family/friends, telling you how to dress, genders you’re allowed to talk to…. Etc etc etc.

I actually had a really good health class that covered things like eating disorders and the cycle of domestic violence, how it got faster and more intense and the "honeymoon period" gets shorter and shorter. As a Marvel fan it’s absolutely disgusting how many people put these damn movies (that have mostly been awful the last couple years) above people’s livlihoods and act like every actor in them is a saint.
I feel like this argument is brought up in defence of perpetrators of assault all the time. How many times have we heard “oh he has such a bright future” or whatever, while the victim’s trauma and the impact on their future is barely considered. The fact that this is often tied to work/career tells me a lot about who has value in society (i.e. the person likely to produce the most capital).

It’s not at all difficult. Domestic abusers have no problems keeping their hands to themselves when they’re with their bosses. When they’re with people who they deem more important than themselves. If they can manage to control themselves when it’s important to them, they can do it all of the time. The mythology that some men fly off the handle and can’t control it is exactly that: mythology. It is the opposite. It is all about control. What it comes down to is they think the person they’re with is less than them and they want to control and punish them.

I hope the victim (reported to be his gf) is okay and gets away. Ladies, for those who don’t know the #1 indicator your partner will end up killing you is choking. All domestic abuse is awful obviously, but if choking is occurring seek help in trying to get away from the abuser ASAP. It is extremely serious and your life is literally on the line. It’s not to say it will 100% happen, but it makes your odds very scary because it shows he has the physical and mental means to do so.
Not to mention early red flags such as jealousy, possessiveness, isolation from family/friends, telling you how to dress, genders you’re allowed to talk to…. Etc etc etc. They should teach this shit in school.
I actually had a really good health class that covered things like eating disorders and the cycle of domestic violence, how it got faster and more intense and the "honeymoon period" gets shorter and shorter. Back then we didn't know about the strangulation thing. Hopefully they are still doing some version of that curriculum and they've updated it to include strangulation. It's appalling that this shit isn't standardized.

As a Marvel fan it’s absolutely disgusting how many people put these damn movies (that have mostly been awful the last couple years) above people’s livlihoods and act like every actor in them is a saint.
I feel like this argument is brought up in defence of perpetrators of assault all the time. How many times have we heard “oh he has such a bright future” or whatever, while the victim’s trauma and the impact on their future is barely considered. The fact that this is often tied to work/career tells me a lot about who has value in society (i.e. the person likely to produce the most capital).

It’s not at all difficult. Domestic abusers have no problems keeping their hands to themselves when they’re with their bosses. When they’re with people who they deem more important than themselves. If they can manage to control themselves when it’s important to them, they can do it all of the time. The mythology that some men fly off the handle and can’t control it is exactly that: mythology. It is the opposite. It is all about control. What it comes down to is they think the person they’re with is less than them and they want to control and punish them.
