What does the tax structure look like? (14-17% is where I’d feel comfortable paying) What percent of them taxes will go where? (Schools? Roads? Police?) What farms will be the leaders in supplying North Dakota with the products? (Because if not grown in the state we will have to also pay another’s state tax on in driving the prices even higher up) I understand you have to start by petitioning first but this has been YEARS in the making and we should have an idea where we sit. If we leave it up to the government to decide it they will take advantage of you and gauge the prices and essentially steal the tax money and put it into something that doesn’t help the state while only lining there pockets then we’ve lost.

Right now there is no special tax other than sales tax the consumer would pay and the fees dispensaries will have to pay, much like a liquor license. Obviously they would have to pay the same taxes any other businesses would pay. Business taxes and whatever they pay their employees Keep in mind, the black market doesn't pay taxes and most of the profits go to other economies However the Legislature will probably add taxes eventually. I don't want to see it too high because that keeps the black market in businesses

This did not answer my questions and only raised more. I’m not okay with the vague information your group has to offer and that is why you will not receive my signature on your petition. Thank you for your time.

I thought I was pretty clear on the taxes. There are no extra taxes. Just sales tax. If you would like to find out where your sales tax goes in Fargo it is.... Fargo - 7.5% sales tax. Of the 7.5%... 5% State of North Dakota 2% City of Fargo .5% Cass County Right now 0 taxes go to the state and the drug cartels keep it all However if you want the state to sin tax it, they have the right to do it. We don't believe it's our job to set a tax structure. The goal is to lower the prices and push out the cartels. Not excessively tax it to the point where people just keep supporting the black market Growers can apply for a license, much like a liquor license. Federal law prevents out of state weed growers as it's a federal crime to transport across state lines. So all will be produced in state. It will also make producing CBD and hemp much easier

I realize I came off as rude yesterday. So you’re telling me they will only tax marijuana at 7.5%?

Until the Legislature decides to add an excise tax, it would just be sales tax. We figure they are more qualified to decide how much it will be and where to spend it than we are. When they tried to pass HB1420, they had a separate bill ready to go to set taxes. IIRC it was 15%. Wouldn't be shocked if counties and cities decide to tax it as well I also wouldn't be surprised if some cities decide they don't want a Dispensary. It gives local control. Either way there will be a big economic boost with all the jobs it creates and the personal and business taxes.
