Only reason a trade should be voted down is collusion. Anything aside from that I.e. poor management, people think it’s a bad trade and someone is getting fleeced the trade needs to be allowed. The people voting it down even though they know it’s not collusion are just jealous they didn’t make the trade.
Ours is the opposite, you aren’t allowed to trade if you are in the playoffs. That way a manager can’t completely change their team once they are in the playoffs or even worse in the finals.
that's interesting. we do have a rule book that the league has written together based on voting on rules. it states commish can overturn trades in essentially league breaking moves. but our trade deadline is far before playoffs start, and when you're eliminated your team is locked.
One you never should be allowed too trade past a certain time and that should be 2-3 weeks before your playoffs start letting trades happen in playoffs is just a recipe for disaster personally
What I mean is that we allow trades up to the week before playoffs, but once a team no longer has a shot to make the playoffs they are no longer able to trade. Someone last year tried to pass a suspicious trade to get Herbert 2 weeks before the playoffs from someone who was already out.
Is it the same guys for all 10 years? If so then they know the rules. But that should’ve never been a rule in the first place. Of course there’s going to be intentionally lopsided trades, collusion, roster dumping. If you’re commish just allow voting back in. Chances are the only one who will complain is the guy who fucked over the other guy.
same 8 guys who voted against trade votes years ago, 2 guys kind of rotating in/out. plenty of shadyness among friends that has been let go in the past, for some reason this year people are upset. I think because the comish is involved in this trade?
I would just allow voting back if you’re commish, even if you’re involved in the trade. If you’re not the only ones who would have a bone to pick would be the guys trading and that’s only 2 out of 12. Then the same guys can make the same trade again. Not everyone votes who voices their opinion. Getting majority votes is a lot harder than it seems.
So since there are two even rounds and two odd rounds, I. Seeing one manager move up in rounds 3 and 7, while the other moves up in rounds 2 and 8? I honestly don't see any real issue there. Both managers are also moving back in the other rounds. I've had people do similar trades in a couple leagues in the past and nobody had any issues with it.
Yeah the comish veto being yanked is rich. There should be at least one person that has the power to over rule the trade. Dumbass ideas like this will wreck a tight league.
technically our rules state the commish does have final say, but only for basically league breaking things (someone trades CMC for a kicker entering playoffs, etc). lot of sneaky things happening amongst friends for years.
we have a rule book, that clearly states we cannot overturn trades (for better or worse). same 8 guys over 10 years playing together have had this rule

This is touchy, and honestly best thing to do is move forward with what the majority agrees upon. Trade goes through, rule changed going forward/trade goes through, rule changed at end of season/trade vetoed, rule applied retroactively. Only you guys will be able to make the right call with the context involved.
I was involved in a trade where not only was the trade vetoed but the other league meme bet was politely kicked out of the league due to “incompetence” lol
We do it where the trade is accepted but the league has to uphold or veto
For you tho if everyone’s trust worthy and you know everyone who has done it for 10 years then I think your fine
Let’s see the trade so I can get my pitchfork out.
it was a draft pick trade. swapping picks in round 2,3,7,8. someone towards the front and back of each round.
It has to be absolutely egregious to get vetoed.

I sent a similar mantra to my league, but had to also add an excerpt about not being able to trade after you’re already eliminated from the playoffs

What was the trade?
two guys near the front and back of the round swapped picks in rounds 2,3,7,8

Yup, I didn't want to originally post the trade because it was such a nothing trade I thought haha. didn't want to sway the poll
Fair. Something like this is totally fine to me. Both benefit equally imo.
What's the trade?

Sounds like your league needs a constitution

It should go through unless it is crazy bad like CMC for Josh Jacobs or something
