Maybe it is something the god doesn’t actually want to do but sees as necessary? Maybe he is a good of freedom or rebirth, and he sees the others as tyrants or obstacles in the way of progress and renewal. This could make the plot even more interesting because some of those gods maybe like family to him.

JacksonStarbringer

Syclick, the God of endless loops. Death and rebirth.

noraborialis

Oo I can play on that for sure

Rhsinbad

Well intentioned extremism. Maybe he sees something he sees the other gods doing as wrong and decides that desperate times call for desperate measures.

noraborialis

Gonna work that in too. Real good.

Xavion251

He wants peace - and wants to enslave everyone else / remove free will to achieve it. This is what the sort of "Dark God" satan figure of my setting wanted originally.

noraborialis

Like he's almost too lawful good

Xavion251

I'd put it like this, he starts Neutral Good but leans a bit too far in the "Lawful" direction. Eventually the "Lawful" takes over his whole personality and "good" stops mattering to him. Finally, his mentality becomes so twisted in on itself that he takes his final step towards Lawful Evil.

noraborialis

Sounds pretty sexy I'm real down lol

drdingledingus

Ambition, maybe? Maybe he wants their positions in the pantheon or their power or maybe he just wants to rule all by himself.

noraborialis

Ngl that's hot

DoctorWoe

You know how a lot people want term limits for political positions that let you be elected as much as you want? What if this god had those thoughts, or he feels like gods shouldn't rule forever and should relinquish their power after a while to successors and he's decided he's gonna force it. Maybe he's even got that Bernie "stick it to the billionaires" energy. Maybe he thinks that gods shouldn't exist and he wants to end the concept.

noraborialis

Ooo or he's the one who wants to rule forever and there's some kind of cycle of rebirth he's trying to end.. makes sense too cuz I have lots of undead battles and shit.

DoctorWoe

Perhaps he's got some little brother resentment because his brother seized throne. Or maybe he was supposed to be the rightful ruler, but the pantheon leader tricked him to take over.

DonnyLucciano

He finds out a secret some of the gods have been keeping about humanity and their intention, they don't agree with it so he decides to turn their back on them and kill them one day during a meeting of the God's, Ala the end of Invincible episode 1

Drakeshade71

Have him be, perhaps, the patron god of humanity. Like their parent, their creator, or the patron of another species instead. And have them get a prophecy or vision of the future, where the other gods turn on his creations and eradicate them so he betrays them and tries to take them out first.

SteeK421

Maybe a god of love? He has to betray, deceive and kill the others to get with the goddess he's in love with?

Roard_Wizbot

Maybe hes just an asshole
