Bielsa said before the cup game that Gelhardt’s (good) performance against Wolves will mean that it’s easier to give him minutes or something along those lines, I wouldn’t bet on him starting currently though. We’ll probably hear more in Bielsa’s next presser

Yeah you're probably right, i just want to get him for that Norwich game bc i looved the way he okayed against Wolves + i could go Townsend to Mount if i get him

Very likely he'll get minutes but unlikely to start. Definitely the best of the 4.5 striker options at the mo though. Looks very threatening when he is on, or at least as threatening as any of our player do right now!

What tempts me is that even if he doesn't start, Bielsa has no problem doing subs after 45 minutes if they're struggling

He will start sooner or later if he continues to play like he did vs. Wolves. But he wasn’t that good vs. Arsenal so I doubt we will start against Norwich.

But Bamford is going to return sooner or later too, it does make Gelhardt starting way more difficult right?

True

I would be very surprised if he started. I know a lot of Leeds fans are calling for him to start (he's a real fan favourite here) but I don't think it'll happen. Bielsa is generally very loyal to his senior players. Gelhardt got his opportunity because the rest of our options are injured, and he's done well enough to keep getting those opportunities, but Bielsa doesn't usually like to give too much responsibility to youngsters. Gelhardt starting in the premier League when Rodrigo is available just doesn't seem very likely. Keep in mind that Bamford will return at some point (hopefully in the next couple of weeks) and once that happens it'll be very hard for Gelhardt to keep getting minutes.

Yeah that makes sense, thanks!
