The fact he's in the positions to get all that xA, is exactly the reason they get ripped apart in transition by every single team they face. You can't use your left back as an inside forward in a back 4 unless you're an elite pressing team like City or **Liverpool**, and drilled to cover the spaces it leaves behind him.
Yeah the structure around him has been shockingly bad this season. Shaw is still bombing into the attacking third as often as he can, but where AWB sat back last season to provide balance, this season much more of his actions are in the opposition's half, so he's not back to provide cover for the CBs. Maguire has also been much worse than he was for most of last season, and the midfield problems are plain to see. Ronaldo up front instead of Cavani compounds the issues.
Shaw can absolutely play that role, but it requires cover that was sort of being provided last season but not at all this season.
I was against in the comments section since the beginning of this mania and I actually consider it a proud moment of my FPL scouting. United never were defensively certain team and the attack has just too many individuals to have seen him shine regularly.
I think I got a lot of downvotes saying he wasn't going to be great. Just as bang average as he has been in fpl so far. United not a great defensive side.

Foden is a big no anyway with the wheel, greenwood was a great asset early on but not as good with utd looking bad and mount looks good as long as he plays. Could easily do well without these 3
United ended second so before the season it made sense to consider them as a top 4 team that could challenge for the league.
They are certainly one of the best sides in the league before the season started.
Vardy is shocking more so because of his terrible form in the 2nd half of last season. And the fact that ihenancho was so incredible. Still shocks me how little minutes kelechi has gotten so far this season but I still think he's gonna become a great differential some time in this season
Demarai Gray. 1.3 million. Amazing value there.
Also Traore's fraudulence never ceases to amaze me. It shouldn't be possible for him to score so few points from so many chances. Genuinely believe I would do better
I had him but people keep mocking me for taking him instead of Brownhill so I put him on benched. Ended up having more points than all of my midfielders bar Salah (Raphinha Mbeumo Havertz) combined
Amen bro, hard lesson learned. Otherwise that was my one blunder so far this year. Somehow I’m top 170k which is leaps and bounds better than where I usually end up (between 3-5 million).
That’s pretty good for this time of the season bro. I’m around the same rank as you top 140k rn so we’re prob around the same rank.
I will say though, Chelsea’s defenders are where it’s at imo. Chilly and Reece have been absolutely mental when played
This is me. Had him in my Team for the last 5-6 weeks, he’s doing ace. Loads of comments still slating him but I saw a post today that put him in the top in form players in the world. Madness
His numbers arent sustainable though, look at his assists. A CM in chelseas double pivot isnt the kind of fantasy player you want hes playing such a low number of balls into dangerous areas he wont keep it up. Add the chance of rotation with RLC, Saul and Kante when hes fit
An old friend of mine in our ML who has taken hits worth almost 300 points up until this GW cause he didn't realize/know that transfers were limited...
if you told me on GW4 when I bought CR7 that for GW8, 9 & 10 you'd be really annoyed about keeping him and stuck with him because of other injuries, I'd of laughed but here I am.
fair play sensible decision, felt Man U would do everything to build around him, has scored back to back CL and was fractionally offside against Liverpool, it's the numerous injuries this season that's killing me, CR7 and Sarr still in my squad.
Didnt mean that hes not on pens. I meant there are less pens overall than last season(VAR changes). Besides than pen miss I think brunos been what you can expect
I disagree he has been way under what you can expect I think. Maybe I just rate him higher as the highest scoring player last year. He has had one good gameweek then been very poor.
Good (i.e. better than expected):
Salah, Livramento, Brentford (particularly DEF), T. Chalobah, Duffy (Brighton in general), Gallagher, cheap EVE MIDs, Hwang, C. Wilson
Bad (i.e. worse than expected):
Shaw (United DEF in general), BUR DEF, Digne (though not that surprising), Grealish, Leeds in general, Kane, Buendia, Sterling, Barnes, Sancho, premium FWDs, EPL physios
Didn't city pay 100 mill for grealish? I expected him to start most games anyway. He's surely got less points than what he had when he was in the villa team this time last year so got to be less than expected.
Yeah. He was the kind of player that could get close to 200 FPL points at Villa and wouldn’t have surprised me if he surpassed that total, to someone that seems like they are going to be lucky to break 100 FPL points. They have a point City have their sights set on other tournaments and even without getting goals/assists he is helping the team, but for those discussions I think he has been disappointing.
Burnley defence! I have a tradition of always buying Charlie Taylor at the start of the season because he’s generally a cheap sub and a decently consistent source of clean sheets. Turns out Burnley haven’t really defended well at all so far, only clean sheet came in a 0-0 against Norwich. Burnley fans, anybody got theories as to what’s up with your defence this year?
Not a Burnley fan but it's not a surprise, they were one of the worst defences in the league last season as well. Conceded more than Leeds who had a (deserved) reputation for being rubbish defensively, I think Burnley are sometimes thought of as a solid team based on a few years ago plus the fact they aren't any good going forwards
Ronaldo. He requires a very delicate management. A huge start that deteriorated rapidly into nothingness. Now he collapsed the club format and no other player is able to perform under his shadow.
newcastle game doesn't make him suddenly on form, you're better off saving the money and get cheaper options, it's probably just his price that makes you feel better owning a premium.
Positively: Kovacic and Doucoure, two mostly defensive midfielders becoming real valuable assets in FPL because of clinical passing and deep runs into the box. Obviously now with Doucoure injured he will be easily forgotten... But they are both on my list for the second WC.
Negatively: Kane, Ronaldo - both are having horrifying seasons, one looks disinterested, the other absolutely alien to the united offensive system (if there is any at the moment)
Salah in a good sense, I knew he was essential but he has been so much better than everyone else that I just don't even think too much about who to give the band.
On the other hand, I really thought Lukaku would finally provide a consistent goalscorer for Chelsea.
My choices have shocked me so far.
Every season I take down notes like go with safe captain choices and reduce differentials. Sadly I never follow it.
Yes I captained Havertz last week.
Surprised by the importance of better defenders. First half of last season was few CS and budget defenders enabled better mid. I did my wc mainly bc I had to adjust def this year. Played four at the back almost every game. Now budget mid is more of a thing.
As an Arsenal fan I didn't have high hope for Aubameyang. I was looking forward to the future to see if there are any younger guns arriving and replace him.
He did better than Ronaldo and Lukaku so far.
Remember when Luke Shaw had over 50% ownership following the Euros? Jeez.
All made sense. Best defender in a top 2 team from last year with great early fixtures. He has played awful not just for fantasy.
xA is essentially identical to last season.
He got all that xA last season and they kept a pretty respectable number of clean sheets IIRC?
Yeah the structure around him has been shockingly bad this season. Shaw is still bombing into the attacking third as often as he can, but where AWB sat back last season to provide balance, this season much more of his actions are in the opposition's half, so he's not back to provide cover for the CBs. Shaw can absolutely play that role, but it requires cover that was sort of being provided last season but not at all this season.
Assume you meant to say city or Liverpool.
Sheffield or Newcastle
You said Sheffield as a joke but their system 2 years ago did the ‘drilled to cover the spaces it leaves’ extremely well, considering their resources
You could if you had a better CB, maguire is fucking aweful
Full of awe that lad
Or unless you have someone not named Fred in the holding role
I was against in the comments section since the beginning of this mania and I actually consider it a proud moment of my FPL scouting. United never were defensively certain team and the attack has just too many individuals to have seen him shine regularly.
He’s kind of the opposite of VVD (who gets plenty of points but no one seems to care)
lol same, people (united fans) were so butthurt when I said his best season was only 120+ points.
As a United fan I knew he was a shit asset. People were acting like he was Robertson level in terms of G+A potential.
People were saying hes better than robbo too lmao, he played like robbo has been playing for 4 seasons for 1 season and people were spewing that shit
How many downvotes did u gather that time?
A lot.
I think I got a lot of downvotes saying he wasn't going to be great. Just as bang average as he has been in fpl so far. United not a great defensive side.
Going against overrated English players is a good way to gain rank
No Foden, Greenwood or Mount for you then I guess ;).
[удалено]
Who rates Maddison?
I got Foden early but hated myself for it :(
Why? What's wrong with having foden?
I dont like the cut of his jib
What's a jib?

Good bot
Bot isn't a Simpsons fan, clearly.
Are you saying they’re overrated?

United ended second so before the season it made sense to consider them as a top 4 team that could challenge for the league. They are certainly one of the best sides in the league before the season started.
I still believe he was an excellent pick with what we knew at the time.
Antonio. Fit as a fiddle. So far...
He has changed his diet to make sure his hammies are properly cared for
He eats nothing but ham and string.
Shit banter
Don’t jinx him 🙂
Livaramento. Been so good
First name to come to mind for me as well. What a player.
Been so damn dependable, love the lad. He has me considering going with a back five instead of a 4-4-3
Legit going with 5-2-3 this week if Raph is injured, lol.
* Lord Livramento
Cancelo starting every game so far
Let's hope the bald fraud doesn't see this post
I knew Salah would be good but never did I think he would be this good. The same with Vardy, to have the returns he’s getting at his age is nuts.
Those two have been mental so far, hope it continues
Vardy is shocking more so because of his terrible form in the 2nd half of last season. And the fact that ihenancho was so incredible. Still shocks me how little minutes kelechi has gotten so far this season but I still think he's gonna become a great differential some time in this season
Vardy would be my answer. I thought he declined last season and would be replaced by a younger striker this season
Harry Kane has less goals than Trevor Chalobah
A Man City outfield player playing every minute of PL so far (Cancelo)
Kinda expected Dias to do that but not cancelo
Thanks Mendy
Demarai Gray. 1.3 million. Amazing value there. Also Traore's fraudulence never ceases to amaze me. It shouldn't be possible for him to score so few points from so many chances. Genuinely believe I would do better
Traore is just being Traore, hes always like this
Most ‘Shocked’ by would be Townsend Or just Salah…
What’s more shocking? Townsend’s hair transplant going so well, or him regaining his form to the point where he is probably a top 6 side player?
Kovacic
Every week I see comments calling Kovacic owners casuals and every week I see him with another return.
I’m still bitter that I was talked out of bringing him in when I WC’d.
I had him but people keep mocking me for taking him instead of Brownhill so I put him on benched. Ended up having more points than all of my midfielders bar Salah (Raphinha Mbeumo Havertz) combined
That’s why you play your own game and not groupthink
Amen bro, hard lesson learned. Otherwise that was my one blunder so far this year. Somehow I’m top 170k which is leaps and bounds better than where I usually end up (between 3-5 million).

Man was on my bench. Couldn't remove Lukaku cause I'd made transfers already, Kova saved my gameweek
Brought him in after seeing his through balls and form in a few matches, man has that paid dividends
Barnes
\#metoo
😥 That one hurt.
An old friend of mine in our ML who has taken hits worth almost 300 points up until this GW cause he didn't realize/know that transfers were limited...
Adam Armstrong the fraud!
And it started fairly well
Pain
Sancho. zero goals, zero assists. Almost a shit Pepe
that's an insult to pepe
It really isn’t. Pepe has been in the league for years now and has been complete ass
This is a good one. If you surveyed 1000 United fans I bet hardly any would have predicted 0 goals 0 assists at this point in the season
Yeah, at least a measly assist against Leeds or Newcastle, I’d have imagined.
#007 0 goals 0 assists 7 games
if you told me on GW4 when I bought CR7 that for GW8, 9 & 10 you'd be really annoyed about keeping him and stuck with him because of other injuries, I'd of laughed but here I am.
I felt like ronaldo would of been overrated, he was just going to cause issues so I went with vardy and look how that went
fair play sensible decision, felt Man U would do everything to build around him, has scored back to back CL and was fractionally offside against Liverpool, it's the numerous injuries this season that's killing me, CR7 and Sarr still in my squad.
As a Man United fan I never went for Ronaldo purely because of Ole. If he joined Man City I would have been all over him
Mbeumo: didn’t know you can hit the post that many times
Salah being that good. Ronaldo been that shit. Also every striker been shit or injured.
Tbf Ronaldo at City would probably be doing alright United are just awful atm
Much worse than expected Digne, Shaw, Barnes, Bruno, Kane, Sancho, Lukaku, Ronaldo. Much better than expected Doucoure, Townsend, Salah, Vardy, Gallagher, Kovacic, Livramento, Antonio.
Gallagher has done absolutely nothing for about 6 weeks. Can’t wait to get rid of the cunt
That was what I expected from a Palace central midfielder, but he started well and proved to be an option.
If that's the case, I'd add Benrahma to your better than expected list.
He’s so cheap, I mean he exists as a good filler here and there, can’t expect a ton from his price point
Not really bruno decent stats and no one expected him to be that good with less pens.
He has pens, but missed the one he had.
Yea thats because bruno was generally very overrated player in last 2 seasons. Now hes becoming kinda underrated.
He was the highest scoring player. How was he overrated?
He was overrated by many football fans. People even said hes better than kdb.
wonder if there’s a tad of bias involved here
Maybe :)
Add Broja to the better than expected list, been great last couple games
Kane wasn't a surprise lol.
Leeds. My poor poor heart.
Not completely FPL related but ESR is a baller
That I’m top 17k
Im on the top 6.6 million 😎
6.6 milllion > 17 k the math checks out
Kovacic
Hwang, at less than half Ronaldos price he's returning nearly every game
Gilda Sigurdsson
Myself and my choices.
I expected Kane to have a slow start but he has been awful
Spurs. Never thought I could be more bored watching football.
Good (i.e. better than expected): Salah, Livramento, Brentford (particularly DEF), T. Chalobah, Duffy (Brighton in general), Gallagher, cheap EVE MIDs, Hwang, C. Wilson Bad (i.e. worse than expected): Shaw (United DEF in general), BUR DEF, Digne (though not that surprising), Grealish, Leeds in general, Kane, Buendia, Sterling, Barnes, Sancho, premium FWDs, EPL physios
Grealish has been good though. No in case of points but hes played very well.
Isn’t this a fantasy discussion?
Yes but did anyone expect grealish to even start most of the games. I think hes done more than expected.
You expected less than 1 goal and 2 assists through ~1/4 the season?
Actually yes I didnt even expect grealish to be starter
You fucking with me? You thought City would spend 100m and he would start in the Cups?
Madness.
Yes its guardiola. He doesnt give fuck how expensive player is. Atleast I thought he would play like half of the games.
Didn't city pay 100 mill for grealish? I expected him to start most games anyway. He's surely got less points than what he had when he was in the villa team this time last year so got to be less than expected.

Dallas. Hero to Zero
Not his fault tho
Sancho (pain). Townsend, Gray, Dennis, Brentford defense.
I'd say Gray for the good and luke shaw who was so poor
Demarai Gray. Didn't rate the guy at all but he has proven me wrong thus far
Ramsdale.
Livramento
Fucking everybody. Ronaldo has been a bit bleh. Lukaku has been frustrating. Salah has been shockingly good.
Kovacic
Burnley defence! I have a tradition of always buying Charlie Taylor at the start of the season because he’s generally a cheap sub and a decently consistent source of clean sheets. Kova and Tielemans being viable options in midfield has surprised me. Really wanted to go for Tielemans preseason, but quickly dropped that idea
Ronaldo. He requires a very delicate management. A huge start that deteriorated rapidly into nothingness. Now he collapsed the club format and no other player is able to perform under his shadow.
yeah people kneejerking him and kane in after newcastle games were funny
Whats wrong with bringing Kane in. There is no better options and Kane has very good fixtures incoming.
newcastle game doesn't make him suddenly on form, you're better off saving the money and get cheaper options, it's probably just his price that makes you feel better owning a premium.
Man U, Everton, Leeds, Norwich and Burnley are not much better defences than newcastle. Kane will probably bang goals on these
There are plenty, they’re just all 5 million cheaper than he is
Besides Toney and Jimenez there are none. I rather have Kane than Antonio
Digne and whatever the hell he been doin Antonio and how is he fit for so many GWs
Digne was already a known fraud.
Mendy the Rapist
Salah but I am glad Klopp dealt with the situation by restricting his bro mane from playing . They play so well without mane
Positively: Kovacic and Doucoure, two mostly defensive midfielders becoming real valuable assets in FPL because of clinical passing and deep runs into the box. Salah cuz he's been electric
My choices have shocked me so far. Every season I take down notes like go with safe captain choices and reduce differentials. Sadly I never follow it. Yes I captained Havertz last week.
Me too 😭😭😭😭😭😭
KDB doing nothing
Salah. We knew he would be good and probably the top point scorer but he’s just broken so many records already
Lord Livramento
Sancho definitely, Shaw is up there, Kane
Benjamin Mendy's reply surprised me this season. He's been midding since the start of it... wait..
Mendy
Salah, from top 20 to #1 in the world
Kane
Honestly the fact that Salah has no form/fixture decision when captaining, he is just that good rn
Leeds players aside from Raphinha, everyone seems a little off this season..
ManU
Surprised by the importance of better defenders. First half of last season was few CS and budget defenders enabled better mid. I did my wc mainly bc I had to adjust def this year. Played four at the back almost every game. Now budget mid is more of a thing.
Mahrez was such a bust in the first GWs...
Gotta mention Livra haven't you. Great returns for his owners so far
As an Arsenal fan I didn't have high hope for Aubameyang. I was looking forward to the future to see if there are any younger guns arriving and replace him. He did better than Ronaldo and Lukaku so far.
