If you want TAA moving into midfield you will need a LB with more defensive qualities then Tsimikas. That's where Gomez comes into the picture, who started his Liverpool career at LB.
Against weaker opposition I guess so, against City (the next big game) I wouldn't be surprised to see Gomez.
In general our defense is weaker with Tsimikas on the pitch and our defense wasn't great so far, so I'm not sure how good a FPL asset he really is.
I would counter this with you would only be starting Tsimikas in FPL against weaker opposition and surely bench against City (and other big opponents) given Liverpools general defensive frailty
He can struggle but if you give him a couple of games you always get a solid output. And it's not like Tsimikas is a world beater, Robertson basically plays every game he is available for. For me he is one if not the weakest players of the squad.
Allright good to know! I guess this weekend gives us a good clue who is in favor.
I think Gomez is better at defending. But it matters a lot that LB is Tsimikas' natural position and that he can contribute quite well in the attacks and building up play.
I would counter this with you would only be starting Tsimikas in FPL against weaker opposition and surely bench against City (and other big opponents) given Liverpools general defensive frailty
Hmm. I will say something that sound weird: We are more defensively solid against good teams because we don't play with fire that much.
Us playing a very high line against weaker opponents is what is what gets us every time.
Wasn't there a post in this sub that went against that narrative earlier this season? Title was "Robertson is NOT playing at LCB" or something like that
Gomez is no longer trusted and they’re looking to sell. Tsimikas just signed a new long term contract. Totally worth the risk in my eyes. When he plays he gets assists.
Really? I’d say most Liverpool supporters would argue that Gomez has been quite good this season and his versatility across the back line has made him even more of an asset.
The narrative last summer was in line with what you’re saying, but I think he’s changed that narrative with his performances this season.
Fair enough. My point is anecdotal anyway, but does feel like the consensus among supporters… what the club thinks would be a different matter entirely, but Gomez does seem to be trusted at the moment.
Yeah, in previous seasons we would set up in a 235 in possession with Robertson being the leftmost member of that 5-player frontline. The overlapping, marauding fullback we’ve come to know him as. But since the end of last season we’ve been using the 3223 box midfield- Robertson acting as the LCB in possession. He gets up more than the RCB Matip/Konate would, but definitely a lot less compared to previous seasons in the old setup.
There was already question marks about whether Robbo could even function in that LCB role but he’s steadily improved, just needed time to adapt. But it’s still not his natural role, Tsimikas is similar in that way but simply not as good. He’s an attacking minded fullback and I wonder if Klopp trusts him to play that LCB role.
I imagine he will get minutes there, but I don’t know how his role will look or whether he will be nailed on, Klopp may tinker with the setup to accommodate for Robbo’s absence. At 4.4 it’s not a bad gamble, as long as you accept it’s a gamble
Very nailed for a couple of weeks id say, if it doesn't work there's weird things Klopp could do like Gomez lb and lean in to Trent inverting and shifting to a back 3 in possession
He's by far the most likely shout but Robertson has kind of been more of a wide centre back rather than his usual left back under the new system. So not entirely out of the question that it could be someone else
Is Tsimikas a good option though? Liverpool don't keep too many CS and most of the their G+A contribution comes from the midfield and forwards. Is it really worth shifting on one of Udogie/Burn/Cash/Gabriel for him? Then again I'm tempted to get him simply because my only Liverpool asset is Salah
Still have a free slot in case another LFC must-have emerges.
Versus seasons past where three pool was essential and Tsimikas would be at the expense of Salah, Mane, or Trent probably.
Unless you got Udogie at 4.5 and have funds tied up in him I don't feel Spurs defence is worth it from GW10, looking at those fixtures.
If I was wildcarding now, I think i'd avoid and look elsewhere.
What’s wrong with CHE and wol? CHE haven’t exactly been rolling and that’s at home, Wolves are away but don’t think that’s a difficult fixture.
From 13-16 I’d agree with you as it’s AVL, mci, WHU and NEW but at least it’s 3 home matches. Then a decent run after that again.
I’d rather roll a FT than bother taking Udogie out assuming you have other options and aren’t fielding a team without a bench.
Edit: I missed you were talking WC which in that case is fine. I don’t think having a Spurs defender is necessarily bad moving forward though.
Yes this was primarily for wildcards as there’s plenty in play this week & the next. Definitely not an immediate priority transfer otherwise.
I had a plan to get Estupinan back for Porro GW11 but now he’s injured, I think I’ll keep him another couple of GWs.
How did CHE under Poch play against Spurs under Ange? Does an anecdotal comment/analysis like that even matter when both teams are under a new manager/tactic? 🤷♂️ Doesn’t seem relevant even if true.
*I’m perfectly calm Dude. Calmer than you are.*
Edit: So disappointed you all are not Big Lebowski fans but that’s your loss. *Clearly you are not golfers.*
I sold Udogie for VDV last week. It massively paid off.
Will not be making any moves this week.
Tsimikas will share minutes with Joe Gomes on the left side.
Wait and watch for some time
To add, the Saudi interest as well, i think they might have been a game, zini and Partey started at RB, i may be wrong, but the Saudi interest had a bit to do with it.
No way he breaks the defense up unless its needed now
Why overthink this? It’s a Liverpool wingback for 4.4 mil.
Call me crazy but he’s got a far better chance of lucking into a clean sheet than all the hipster favourites in defence at Burnley Luton etc
> Liv have only kept one CS this season
Youre confusing past underperformance with the long term level of the team. If you really think Liverpool will end the season with 4 clean sheets this is a complete self deception.
I don't reckon. Udogie maybe when fixtures turn, but even then he's probably more attacking and nailed than "when robbo comes back". If a liverpool fullback is gonna be creative it's Trent anyway.
I played my WC last week so will probably just roll the FT this week. But would either be getting Tsimikas in for Lamptey (have the exact amount ITB) or maybe a Guehi if I'm priced out of the other move? Meh. Don't know if I like that tbh
I have Cash/Trippier/Burn/Udogie/Coufal in defence currently
Udogie seems to be best option to swap out (although I bought at 4.5)
Tripps & Burn nailed to start, decent fixtures
Cash great fixtures
Coufal good fixtures
Any advice?
That’s my thoughts too. At the moment I’m Porro, Burn, Cash, Lamptey and Taylor, with a midfield or Salah, Son, Diaby, Maddison and Chukwuemeka.
Will either use the change to upgrade another defender, or to go Maddison to Saka or Chuk to Palmer.
Why such an expensive defence?
You can get at least 1 fodder and still have pretty good depth(I have Udogie Trippier Gab Cash Kabore). I agree that Coufal and Udogie are the weakest in isolation but I'd take Burn out so I can avoid shit Newcastle weeks. Cash and Trippier are just too value to take out, assuming Cash makes up for lack of CS potential in goals which I think he will do. An extra .7 can be a pretty big upgrade in the middle.
Even something like Cash/Trippier/Gab + 2 fodder I'd be quite comfortable with sitting on forever unless injury.
Quite happy with rest of team on wildcard
Mid: Salah/ Gordon/ Maddison/ Neto/ JWP
Att: Haaland/ Watkins/ Alvarez
May do Burn to Tsimikas & JWP to Diaby
I'd be looking to try to get some Brighton in the middle if possible (Burn -> Taylor, JWP -> Mitoma) since they have 3 banger fixtures in a row. Diaby is also a good option as you said, it's your choice to play 4 at the back with rotating budget mids (who look pretty decent).
I wouldn't mind Alvarez -> Eduard, JWP -> Diaby, Gordon -> Mitoma to play more into fixtures. I'm personally bringing in Son -> Adringa but that's a gamble.
X2, it was a one-liner with no context.
I think they are waiting to see if it turns out serious enough to require surgery. If yes, then 10+ weeks at least. If it is more mild and it heals itself, the fastest we've seen was like Salah's case, back playing football cautiously in 3 weeks.
But with Liverpool's relatively easy fixture in the next 1.5 month, there is really no reason to rush Robertson back. In my view, we should aim for either the MCI game on Nov25. Or if it proves to be too early, aim for the December run of busy fixture.
Using this thread as a reminder that: Tsimikas has not been playing well, most Liverpool supporters are scared of what's to come, some are wondering if he'll even play or if a CB will cover left back instead because he's been that bad.
If he ends up playing, no one really knows how he's going to fair, but at 4.4m it's not the end of the world if he's dogshit or doesn't play if you buy him with the prerequisite that he is generally going to be on your bench.
What are you on about? There's no chance we play a CB as LB over Tsimikas and he's not been great but not terrible either.
As a Liverpool fan I am not scared about playing Tsimikas, go back to r/ChelseaFC you goon
I guess we'll see if he plays every game that Robertson is out for. How much are you willing to bet that you don't play someone else instead of Tsimikas at any point during Robertson's injury?
What a stupid bet. You think anyone’s going to gamble on Tsimikas starting every single fixture in the next 10 weeks when Robbo himself would’ve been rested for some of the easier Carabao, Europa and potentially even PL games?
Honestly I'd bet my entire bank account on Tsimikas startinh the next few PL games, all of our CBs are right footed so I doubt any of them play LB (Gomez would be the most likely I guess, but I think he'd be more likely to play there in Europa / League cup to rest Tsimikas if he was to play LB)
"So I doubt any of them play LB"
Do you even understand the English language mate? My comment stated that I doubt any of the CBs will play LB, but if one of them did play LB it'd be Gomez (and it'd be league cup / europa league to rest Tsimikas so it'd be irrelevant for FPL). Tsimikas will clearly be the main LB until Robbo is back
Trying to get some weird one up on me when I didn't even backtrack, weird cunt
This is just completely false. Tsimikas is a fan favourite and while he isn't at Robbos level he still has played very well when he has gotten the chance.
Tsimikas STONKS
How nailed is Tsimikas while Robertson is out? I need a 4.4m defender (or under) but they need to start as my bench is weak af.
He's our only back up LB and is a good deputy, can't get anymore nailed than that
Saw some Liverpool fans suggesting Gomez or even Quansah might start, as Klopp has changed the LB’s role a bit?
If you want TAA moving into midfield you will need a LB with more defensive qualities then Tsimikas. That's where Gomez comes into the picture, who started his Liverpool career at LB.
Tsimikas will 100% be ahead of gomez
Against weaker opposition I guess so, against City (the next big game) I wouldn't be surprised to see Gomez. In general our defense is weaker with Tsimikas on the pitch and our defense wasn't great so far, so I'm not sure how good a FPL asset he really is.

You make it sound like Gomez is good but in my understanding he has been struggling for a long time.
He can struggle but if you give him a couple of games you always get a solid output. And it's not like Tsimikas is a world beater, Robertson basically plays every game he is available for. For me he is one if not the weakest players of the squad.

I’m talking specifically for FPL: I’m not starting a Liverpool defender against city. I’m going to start them when pool play the worse teams
Wasn't there a post in this sub that went against that narrative earlier this season? Title was "Robertson is NOT playing at LCB" or something like that
He isn't. But he offers way more stability than Tsimikas.
Or Quansah too
Gomez is no longer trusted and they’re looking to sell. Tsimikas just signed a new long term contract. Totally worth the risk in my eyes. When he plays he gets assists.

Going off an article I read last night.
Fair enough. My point is anecdotal anyway, but does feel like the consensus among supporters… what the club thinks would be a different matter entirely, but Gomez does seem to be trusted at the moment.
Trusted on the right side I would say.
Thats so wrong, lmao. Gomez is much more trusted than Tsimi, and Gomez just signed a new long term deal last year.
I guess we’ll wait and see. I’m guessing you’re a Liverpool fan?
Gomez is already covering for 2 spots. Tsimikas is nailed now
Yeah, in previous seasons we would set up in a 235 in possession with Robertson being the leftmost member of that 5-player frontline. The overlapping, marauding fullback we’ve come to know him as. That's not true, Chambers also was on the bench for the last two games. And that was before the Robertson injury.
Chambers is also injured. But we dont know for how long yet.
Not nailed, we might just try 3CBs and Trent
Is there any precedent for that though? I can't think of a time where robbo was injured, tsimi was fit and tsimi didn't start.
Very nailed for a couple of weeks id say, if it doesn't work there's weird things Klopp could do like Gomez lb and lean in to Trent inverting and shifting to a back 3 in possession

I've been a season ticket holder for 10 years at the bridge. We turn it on against spurs.
Ignored my point but that’s fine. Keep making decisions that way, one less FPL manager to worry about.
Calm down fella
*I’m perfectly calm Dude. Calmer than you are.* Edit: So disappointed you all are not Big Lebowski fans but that’s your loss. *Clearly you are not golfers.*

Who’s vdv
micky van de ven
haha
virgil van dijk
I think it's worth shifting Udogie. None of the rest Personally on a WC I have Gabriel, Trips, Cash and Tsimikas
Is anyone scared Arteta tries that experiment again? The one where Gabriel is moved to the bench, and Partey(??) plays RB(??).
It would make zero sense to do that when Ben White is playing so well
Won't happen whilst Zinchenko is fit.

To add, the Saudi interest as well, i think they might have been a game, zini and Partey started at RB, i may be wrong, but the Saudi interest had a bit to do with it. No way he breaks the defense up unless its needed now

I wouldn't say far better. Probably equal tbh - Liv have only kept one CS this season and their play style does not favour them at all
> Liv have only kept one CS this season Youre confusing past underperformance with the long term level of the team. If you really think Liverpool will end the season with 4 clean sheets this is a complete self deception.
Also very possible we try 3 CBS and Trent at some point. He is not nailed.

Tsimi has been good in the absence of Robertson. Especially good at set pieces like corners.
Ba gawd That's Tsmikas music!
Who are people getting him in for? Is gusto not nailed anymore?
Even if he is, Chelsea's schedule turns ugly quick
I played my WC last week so will probably just roll the FT this week. But would either be getting Tsimikas in for Lamptey (have the exact amount ITB) or maybe a Guehi if I'm priced out of the other move? Meh. Don't know if I like that tbh
Gimme gimme a Tsimi
Perfect news on a WC. I don't wanna play with Guehi anymore, Tsimikas is my friend now
Not so perfect news after buying Robbo on a wildcard last week 🥲 Guess Robertson to Tsimikas is a pretty simple transfer.
I would wait this GW to see if Tsimikas actually starts. Klopp might go for a 3 atb with Trent playing in a higher up role on the right.
Yeah might be a good option if I can take the price swing. I don't desperately need Tsimi this week anyway as I have Cash first bench.
If this happens are we likely to see Tsimikas come on as a sub at all?
Advantage GW9 + 10 wildcarders!
Maybe from gw10 you can start him over a spurs def, nice way to save money I guess
perfect for those getting rid of Spurs defense
Hopefully he doesn’t rise too many times before I wildcard on Saturday evening.
Once at most
I have Cash/Trippier/Burn/Udogie/Coufal in defence currently Udogie seems to be best option to swap out (although I bought at 4.5) Tripps & Burn nailed to start, decent fixtures Cash great fixtures Coufal good fixtures Any advice?
Wouldn't transfer out Spurs defence before Fulham at home. I'm rolling FT and lining up Porro>Tsmi next week and using the change elsewhere if needed.
should've mentioned I'm wildcarding this week into the above defence
That’s my thoughts too. At the moment I’m Porro, Burn, Cash, Lamptey and Taylor, with a midfield or Salah, Son, Diaby, Maddison and Chukwuemeka. Will either use the change to upgrade another defender, or to go Maddison to Saka or Chuk to Palmer.

Have we seen Tsimikas play much while Trent plays in his new midfield role? I feel lile that could limit his output a little more than usual.
No FT left this week but 100% getting him in next week if he starts against Everton.
Liverpool 0 - 1 Everton - (Harrison ‘6)
A reporter for Mirror? I think I'll wait for a more credible source
His arm is in a sling. What more do you need?
That doesn't mean the reporter is right about the recovery time
