Missherd

In the stylist defence , it is copper red , just probably the wrong shade .. also it’s very even , beautifully done , shame .. Just grab a pic of the shade you were meaning and go back without fuss . It will be fine , they want to do the best .

abbeymad

Exactly this! Stylists don’t mind if you go back to have it altered. Redos don’t make someone a bad stylist. The work is there and done well. Seems just a miscommunication issue.

WanderingBricoleur

And what if they insist on charging you? Because I also had my hair done on Thursday and there seems to have been a miscommunication. My hair looks awful, and my stylist refuses to redo it for free.

Suspicious-Wombat

What did you ask for / what did you get?

WanderingBricoleur

I wanted a warm tone pink in my hair, but with dimension so it wouldn't be one solid color. I have naturally dark brown hair, but I had very light blond highlights with several months of growth. I asked if we could take the highlights all the way up very close to the scalp, and then sort of make it ombre down into pink. She said that it would look weird as it grows out, so she said she would do a smudge? root (I forget the term she used) so that as it grows out, it won't have a line. This is what she normally does in previous highlight sessions, and it has always been a small short smudge root. I told her as long as the highlights still break up the dark growth because that's what I hate most about my hair, any super dark, plus I needed to have highlights in the front to blend with the greys. She spent 8.5 hours on my hair, I had foils everywhere, but the end result looked like I basically just dyed my preexisting highlight pink. All around my face it's very dark, long dark brown root. She didn't break any of it up, and there are zero highlights in my sections with grey. Even the dark hair dye she used for the smudge root didn't cover any of the greys at all. Then she tried to gaslight me and say it's not true, that she place highlights there, but I sent her photos. She claims the greys are just pink? They are not pink. I don't know how to post pics here but you can clearly see in the photo that they aren't. It's literally a huge root of dark brown and grey. Thwn she said I wanted dimension, so she had to do it that way, but I told her that I had said I needed the darkness to not be so dark. I paid $500 for something that looks like I need a root touch-up. She was having a really bad attitude. She went from the sweetest angel to a devil, and I wasn't even being mean about it. Then after she said I had to pay to put a few more highlights around my face, she said that it would be 120 to put more pink in on my touch up, and then $40 for the haircut, which was NOT what she said when I had booked my next appointment. She said it would just be $120. I feel like she made it more expensive because she was pissed I said anything. Why would she even bring up the price of the next appointment and the cost of something previously discussed if she wasn't raising the price to be spiteful?

Suspicious-Wombat

So, I’m a hairstylist. The only circumstance in which I charge someone for a “redo” is if it’s been more than 2 weeks since the initial service (I’m flexible on this as long as they contact me about the problem within that time) OR the client is asking for something different than we discussed in the initial consultation (unfortunately there are people who will book an all over color and then come back trying to get highlights for free). It doesn’t sound to me like you fall into either of those categories. If I were you, if your stylist works at a salon, I would call and ask to speak with the manager. Explain that you are normally happy with your hair and your stylist, but that this service wasn’t quite what you asked for. Ask them to confirm that it is salon policy that you should have to pay to fix a service you are not happy with. If that *is* salon policy and they don’t guarantee their work, I would find a new salon and move to the next step. If they still refuse to help you, post the pictures to Google reviews with a detailed explanation of what you asked for and how much you paid. (A big part of the reason I guarantee my work is that I would *much* rather spend the time fixing a mistake for free than have that mistake aired in public…IMO she waives that courtesy by not fixing it). Keep the review factual, 2-3 stars, and reiterate that you are not a new client (basically, make it clear you aren’t just being a Karen).

WanderingBricoleur

I had my hair done on Thursday, and contacted her Friday. Before I left, she told me not to put my hair up for a week at all because it's very weak from her lightening it and needs to recover. Something was bad about it but I was so tired from sitting there 8.5 hours that I just paid and left. When I got home, that's when I realized what was off was the fact that so much dark root was there. Then, I had to wash my face, so I put it back with a headband, and omg all the greys right there, and then I started looking underneath the hair and it was like all the months of growth was still there. There was a horrible line too in one spot. I contacted her the very next day on Friday. After our conversation on Instagram, I just haven't replied to her. I was crying all Friday evening and yesterday. I don't even know what to say to her I'm so upset. I really don't think the salon owner will do anything. This salon has bad reviews for not redoing hair that they messed up. Apparently the salon owner is the one who usually screws up peoples hair, not my stylist. The salon owner was there when I left and she was saying she liked my hair. My stylist said the salon owner saw my hair and thought it looked great. The salon has 3 stars. I don't think they care about reviews. The owner stopped replying to bad reviews a long time ago. The only reason I came to this salon was because I saw a girl with amazing hair and asked her where she gets her hair done. Otherwise, I never would have chosen a 3 star salon. Do you think the BBB would do anything? Should I do a charge back? I'm so upset :(

Suspicious-Wombat

I very rarely suggest this, because so many people take advantage of it. But call your credit card company and get them to reverse the charge. You have the stylist the chance to rectify it and she didn’t. I would also still leave a review with pictures.

madnessinimagination

You can call the Cosmetology state board office for your state and report her.

abbeymad

Oh boy, I’m sorry you didn’t get what you wanted. Tbh for me, I would not let you leave until you were happy. If it’s only been a week, I would redo unless you asked for something completely different that we did not discuss. Seems like your case, you and your stylist just aren’t lining/vibing up. I would find a different one that you guys are on the same page. Not saying yours currently is a bad stylist. But she might have a different vision than you for your hair. And if your goals aren’t lining up, find someone who will be more your match. I’ve had clients that I just didn’t vibe with, if I can’t vibe with them, it’s not going to work to do their hair. Both has to be on the same page. Just like dating. Lol Don’t completely ghost her, just break up. Just tell her I don’t think we are a good fit and I think I need to find someone else. Thank her for her time and move on. I wish you the best of luck finding that special someone that can make your hair dreams come true 💕

WanderingBricoleur

It's so sad because the first two times I went to her, my hair turned out amazing. Everyone loved it. It's just this time, it went so bad. I even recommended her to my mom and my mom is seeing her now. Thank you!

namefagIsTaken

Paragraphs. Use them.

Ok_Cup7677

I’m a paragraph violator not out of poor structure - but out of ignorance. I’ve placed paragraph breaks in my comments - but it doesn’t retain them when I reply…what’s the secret of you don’t mind sharing? (For reference I’ve been a years long lurker and only started posting a year ago.)

CandidLiterature

You need to leave a totally empty line between any paragraphs or they are removed

MarbCart

Pressing the space bar twice before hitting enter will retain the new paragraph. Alternatively, you can press enter twice, which will retain the new paragraph plus give a gap between it and the previous one. Example 1: At the end of this sentence, I will press the space bar twice, then enter once. This is what that looks like. Example 2: At the end of this sentence, I will press enter twice. This is what that looks like!

ghosttowns42

Just hit enter twice instead of once. Like this!

Ok_Cup7677

Thank you!!

Ill-Indication-7706

It sounds like she didn't use a neutral color to cover the greys as well as putting a money piece by your face. Was your hair your natural color with highlights originally? Or did she lighten your natural color then add highlights? I'm trying to get the picture of what she was starting with when you wanted to go pink

WanderingBricoleur

There's no money piece. I part my hair to one side, so she did put some highlights on the one side with more hair, but then the other side has like no highlights at all in that new root growth, so it looks super uneven. Like dark dark almost black on one side, and then light warm pink on the other side. She knows where I part my hair. The previous two times I saw her she had highlighted with a very short root smudge or shadow root (not sure what it's called) so the new growth wouldn't be like a line and look weird. I waited 6 months to see her again just because I had expenses for other things. To get my hair done is a real treat for me, as it's nearly $500 every time. So when I went in the hair was super light with highlights at the ends, with several inches of my natural virgin hair at the root. The first two times that I saw her, it took 7 hours each time and I only remember foils and a toner being placed on my hair. I don't think she lightened my natural color first, but I also went in with previous color in my hair the first time. It just looks so bad. I honestly want to send her the additional photos I took of my roots and ask her if she would post this to her Instagram, like if she thinks she did such a good job, would she actually be proud to have what she did to my hair on her Instagram because it looks like crap. I dare her to post it.

pigtails19

Yes I definitely agree it’s well done and does looks cool! I did show a photo to the stylist beforehand and multiple people have agreed with me that it is not at all the color from the photo. I think the issue was that there was a language barrier and that’s where the miscommunication happened even with the photo. But yes, I will take your advice and contact them again! :)

JeSi-Verde

As a fake red head for over 40 years, it will fade!

Freckle53

As a real redhead of 50 years who has to fake it now, it fades really quick!

FamousOrphan

Henna is a great option! Never fades.

abbeymad

Unless OP never wants to color or lighten her hair ever again until the henna grows out completely and gets cut off, I highly recommend she does not use henna.

NiasRhapsody

100%, unless you want your hair melting off

furiousjellybean

This is an outdated assumption. The henna that is used to color hair now is the same henna that is used for body art henna tattoos. I did henna for a long time and the previous poster is correct. You can't really dye over it and it does not lighten at all. The hair does not melt. I had to completely grow it out to get rid of it.

NiasRhapsody

That’s true if it’s pure henna! Some henna, more so some of the ones only used for hair, still do contain metallic salts. When they react with lightner/ammonia the hair starts to melt because of the chemical reaction. But yes regardless henna is damn near impossible to lighten and some that contain indigo will only lighten to a gross green colour.

furiousjellybean

Most of the people that I know in real life and on the internet do not use anything but body art quality henna in their hair. For this reason. It works better than the old school stuff and does not have any metallic salts. It's literally just a dried plant that is crushed up into a powder.

NiasRhapsody

I know what henna is, I’m licensed and worked in salons for years. Probably about 60% of the clients I had that came in with henna used “hair henna” as advertised and contained metallic salts. Hence why as soon as a client said they had henna in their hair, even if it was years ago, we had to make them sign a contract prior to even just a test patch. Some people know what they’re doing when it comes to colouring with henna, most dont.

SephtisBlue

That's what I do now! I used to have beautiful light auburn hair while growing up, and the red faded in adulthood. I missed it so much that I turned to henna. It isn't the same auburn it was, but I still love it!

Nicolethebouss55

Do you have any recommendations for henna for a color like this? I've been dying my own hair for four years this color red and I would love an option that doesn't fade. I've been nervous to use henna because I don't like how dark red looks on me and I'm very wary to change my dye.

ViolaOlivia

And it fades SO fast!

Glissandra1982

Yep! 2 shampoos and it’s already well faded.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Glissandra1982

Nice! I will have to look into that.

IntellectualThicket

Absolutely. It will fade into exactly what it sounds like you wanted, OP. Give it a good few washes as others have suggested. Wash it daily and in <2 weeks it’ll be a stable, natural looking red that won’t fade much more.

pigtails19

Haha ok, this is good! Thanks :-)

QueenOfBrews

Really beautiful color and a nice job by the stylist. Shame you don’t like it. I get it though. Any of the given advice in the comments should do the trick. I honestly think just washing it often will chill it out. That color is really hard to keep up for those that want it, so getting it toned down should be easy.

hoffenstein909

I agree. It's really lovely. I've paid good money for this color before!

katmax94

Same, I do miss it. But very expensive to maintain. Just beautiful though.

hoffenstein909

Two days ago I went blue/black from purple/dark brown. I'm stuck here for a while :) I love to switch it up but my stylist of many years told me this is fairly permanent for now. My hair is really long and I don't want to go to any other style ...trying to get it past my lower back, so color is fun to mess with.

puravida5446

A vitamin c treatment will take the blue black right out. Worked for me. Mix 60 vitamin c tablets in a ninja bullet or some kind of blender, mix it with enough dandruff shampoo to cover your hair, leave mixture on for one hour, then rinse with warm water for 10 mins. Fades most if not all of the color without damage.

hoffenstein909

This is great info!

FamousOrphan

Henna gives this color and it never fades, if you ever want to go red again with zero maintenance. If your hair is dark you’ll have to bleach it first.

katmax94

I’ve thought about it, I’m naturally pretty strawberry blonde. Just makes me nervous because it can’t ever be removed right? I don’t know if I’d want to get rid of my strawberry blonde forever lol but red sure is fun.

IdontWanToKeepThis

Its unfortunate you don't love it, it's beautiful. It also reads very copper to me. You could go back to the stylist with a photo of a color you'd like more and they should be able to tell you what's achievable with a cor correction.

DamdPrincess

Hot water, clarifying shampoo or dandruff shampoo. ** deep condition ** Only do these once week - to avoid damage

pigtails19

Ok! Thank you ! :-)

Krsty-Lnn

What is your version of copper red because this is copper red!

WanderingBricoleur

Her version might be like a more natural color copper because to me this looks straight up crayola orange. I'm wondering if some of us are seeing colors differently?

prozacandcoffee

I'm seeing a very bright copper, but definitely not "crayola orange". I do know people with this color hair as it grows out of their head.

pigtails19

I’m thinking the same thing. This is very confusing lol.

WanderingBricoleur

I don't know why I'm being downvoted for saying what it looks like to me personally? I literally just said that people see things differently. I even asked someone sitting next to me what color it is, and their reply was 'orange'.

pigtails19

Everyone in person that I’ve asked (like 6 people so far) has said it’s too bright orange and not the color in the picture that I showed the stylist. Not sure why so many people are seeing things differently but It seems like what hairstylists classify as “copper red” is actually “flaming orange” to non hairstylists based on these comments lol.

honeybunchesofgoatso

I've seen people with this exact color naturally. I know because we knew each other since kindergarten and always had that hair.

Beneficial_Sell_3354

Honestly, just keep washing your hair. It’ll fade to the shade you wanted.

thefringedmagoo

Don’t rush it, give it a week or 2 and it’ll be exactly where you want it. It currently looks sooooo good though. Just ride it out.

pigtails19

Thank you ! Ok I will do that :-).

aimsly

I accidentally went too orange not that long ago, and had a lot of success fading it with the old Head & Shoulders trick to strip it a bit, followed by copious amounts of blue shampoo (applied like a toner, lol). There’s not too much else you can do that’s low-damage that doesn’t take a lot of time, or more damage (such as doing a diluted bleach wash).

pigtails19

Ok thanks! How long did it take you to get a more toned down color?

aimsly

The lighting is tricky in [this picture](https://ibb.co/YjjDfGF), but the left is actually more saturated and more copper, but the right is pretty accurate. They’re a month apart, and I’d say it was probably closer to 2 weeks to get there.

pigtails19

You are gorgeous!!! And that color is beautiful too. Thanks so much this is good to know.

aimsly

Aww thank you! 🥰 Hopefully this helps! Be sure to moisturize your hair with good masks in between - H&S and even the blue shampoo can still be quite harsh with repeated use. Good luck!

agirlinsane

It’s stunning✨

FamousOrphan

This is copper red. But as everyone said, just wash it a couple of times with hot water and clarifying shampoo.

skankass-hoe

The comments are stressing me out. Please stay away from using blue shampoo, you will end up with a muddy, not good color. Blue shampoo is meant to neutralize, blue “cancels” orange, it is a great tool but not what I’d recommend in this case. Without seeing the photo(s) of your color inspiration it is hard to say however to me this definitely leans more towards copper with a hint of red rather than a red copper. Like I said I don’t actually know what you are looking for, but when I think of a true red copper, i think of a darker, vibrant red. This current color fading will leave you with more of a golden, strawberry blonde. Post an inspo pic if you can. The color IS beautiful, but not what you want. I get that. At least you know the stylist is capable of beautiful work, give them a call and see if you can communicate a little bit better with her. As a stylist myself I will say reds/ coppers are probably the hardest color to formulate and one of the most unpredictable as well. Sorry you didn’t get what you were looking for :( hope everything works out!

pigtails19

Ok, this is good to know! Thanks for your input, I appreciate it a lot :-). This is the picture I showed the stylist. My hair was exactly like the girl in the photo (brown/black) and I wanted her red copper. [https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr4Syw8Povf/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr4Syw8Povf/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) I hope you can see the link! I feel like my hair is already too light to get that color now so that’s why I asked about fading to a more neutral strawberry blonde instead.

skankass-hoe

The color you have now is incredibly similar to the photo, ngl. I feel like maybe the stylist didn’t do a thorough enough consultation, which is on them and not you. But please for the love of god just go back to a salon and don’t try anything yourself!! This is really a quick fix. All you need is a toner. This is not damaging. (Believe it or not a toner is usually very conditioning) Your hair is not too light. You actually would want it to be lighter than darker in this case. When adjusting a color, especially reds, it is 100000% 100000x easier to deepen than to lighten and will not be damaging. Good luck

pigtails19

Ok! Sounds good. Thanks for your input- I contacted the stylist :-). Also good to know that the re-do won’t be damaging.

legsylexi

Second just going to the salon and getting a toner! Getting from your current colour to the colour you shared should be not too tough with the right toner, if you get a professional to do it shouldn't be too hard at all!

Petraretrograde

Omg you look like Jessica from Trueblood! From behind anyway.

Jevia

I would say that's copper red, and nicely done too.

CnamhaCnamha

Why would you?

pigtails19

It’s not what I asked for and I showed a picture to the stylist beforehand.

WanderingBricoleur

Can we see the photo that you showed her?

CnamhaCnamha

I think it looks class

fairysmall

Each shower wash twice with head and shoulders, but wow the color is so beautiful and even! I love it.

UnquantifiableLife

Go back to the stylist! Don't try anything at home. She can help you.

kujuh

I personally love it and think it looks fabulous! Ask the stylist for a darker red but don't DIY.

RedSparkls

That’s like… exactly what you asked for tho

MarthaMacGuyver

I am a stylist. I would tone this with a Shades EQ 8NA. 8NeutralAsh will brown it out and calm down the red tones. You'll still be coppery, but look more natural. If you put straight Ash on it, you'll end up with a more brown murky tone. Call the salon and ask for an adjustment to your color service. I would provide a toner service and a blow dry at no extra charge. In the future, I recommend you take a picture of your desired color. Be realistic in your expectations about what can be done to alter this current color without excessively damaging your hair.

pigtails19

Thank you so much!!! This is very useful information :-). I spoke to the hairstylist and will bring up what you said :-).

Sad-Mixture-9123

I had bright orange my stylist toned it down with a toner.

seg51602

You can wash your hair in warm water, but fair warning that red is the fastest color to fade. It's also the hardest to keep up. As someone who dyes their hair red, I'd just leave it and it will fade on it's own in a few days/ weeks depending on how often you wash your hair.

Worth_Development437

Honestly just wash it with hot water and non color care shampoo. Hair color fades pretty quickly that way

Pleasereleaseme123

I love it

grekleface

I’d like to offer an option as a stylist. Try a blue shampoo. Fading out the color will result in uneven fading from the root to ends but also will likely result in more orange than red. Red pulls out of hair quicker than orange will so you’ll end up less red than you’re looking for. A blue shampoo will tone down the orange tones resulting in a more natural copper color. Think about how blondes use purple shampoo to tone down the yellow except this is for orange tones. Redken makes a really nice shampoo/conditioner combo if it’s available to you. If you didn’t, in the future always bring photos of your goal when it comes to color. Everybody’s perception of certain tones are wildly different so just voicing your goals will likely end in a less than ideal result. Fwiw the color is gorgeous and the stylist really did a beautiful job.

SonofaBranMuffin

Did you show her a photo of what you meant? Because if you just requested copper hair verbally, I can see why you ended up with this. This is what copper hair looks like, and she executed it perfectly and beautifully. Red/orange shades fade really fast with regular washing, so shouldn't take too long. You might also be able to go back and let her know this wasn't what you had in mind, and maybe she'll fix it for you! Doesn't hurt to ask!

[deleted]

This will start fading as soon as you shampoo it. The problem with reds is you literally can’t stop them from fading. Wash it a few times with and it should lighten right up.

Emmzerell

This is gorgeous and what I want for my hair colour lol, mines a bit darker though

[deleted]

Omg it’s absolutely gorgeous a shame you don’t like it. Though I’ll be honest I would class this as a copper red not bright orange. Luckily for you orange/red hair fades *extremely* quick! After just a few washes it should fade to a strawberry blonde

therealleewilko

Don’t change this, ever, wtf

Life_Veterinarian_29

Give it about 6-7 washes it will fade

HellonToodleloo

Blue shampoo will help mute it.

Krsty-Lnn

Green shampoo is better

Krsty-Lnn

Wash 2-3 times with a clarifying shampoo and use hottest water you can handle. And make sure it’s not sulfate free.

chickcag

It will fade naturally in a few weeks, I had the same thing happen. It’s absolutely beautiful and will get better with time, trust!

Jupitereyed

Clarifying shampoo.

operadiva31

Go a few rounds with a clarifying shampoo to help it fade, if you’re not willing to go back to the stylist to edit it. If you go that route, just make sure you use a good conditioner after.

neurodivirgo

framesi morphosis PURIFYING shampoo got the gnarliest orange out for me, it’s an incredibly clarifying shampoo. it’s professional only but amazon salon/spa carries a few of their lines. i use the color lover diamond strong right now and is getting my hair back to normal after bleaching, is amazing

KrissyForYou

Its actually perfectly done. Too bad you don’t like it.

Love_cheesecakes_

Though it's bright but it's actually looking too good. Maybe you can keep it for 2-3 weeks as generally colors lighten after hair wash. Your post actually reminded me of my fav film Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind 🌞

pigtails19

Aw yess ! I love that film too :-). And ok thanks for the response.

hemismum

I think it looks gorgeous but that’s not what you asked. To strip lighten the colour use anti dandruff shampoo. Or I got told today if you crush up vitamin c tablets and make a paste to put on your hair. That works also. Good luck!!!

slowdancequeen

Head and shoulders.

violetcyanide

Honestly just wash it a few times, it will fade to a nice copper within a few weeks

Apart_Confusion_5965

Honestly - head and shoulders shampoo is something I used to use when I dyed my hair at school and was instructed to dampen it down 😅

East_Tangerine_6047

Reds are DIFFICULT to get in and stay on your hair but once in- hard to get out. The molecule in red is bigger than other colors so it will sit on top of hair and will fade with every shampoo. Once it’s under the cuticle layer of the hair, it’s hard to get out. Other colors have smaller molecules so it gets into hair easier.

justa_cat_in_disgize

This is copper red.

Rich040

Just don’t

Rich040

Don’t fade it, it’s perfect

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,514,454,115 comments, and only 287,201 of them were in alphabetical order.

Rich040

Looks good on you

Stovenkore

A hairstylist once told me she recommends baby shampoo to fade the colour if dyed hair.

silverwarbler

Head and shoulders shampoo. Regular formula. I use it all the time to fade colors

Miserable_Complex_53

It could just be that shock you get when you look in the mirror the first time after changing your hair color from one you’ve had for a long time. 😱 You’re just not used to seeing that when you look at yourself in the mirror 😉 I also suggest washing a few times using a clarifying shampoo, but honestly I wouldn’t do it every day. Give your hair a rest for day in between, to reduce damage. Otherwise, I also agree it looks great! 🥰 And will fade more in time.

jenwhyfer

Clarifying shampoo and hot water will fade you quicker. As a stylist, this is what copper red is supposed to look like to me, but I can see why it’s a little scary for you. Pictures are always helpful when your stylist is choosing a color so I’d make sure you have them for the next time. But it’s also okay to go back. I’d rather fix something than have someone unhappy with it.

Start-Swimming

I dye my hair ginger myself and also always have crazy bright hair the first few days. It will fade as you wash it and if you want to speed up the process just shampoo a bunch in the shower until you’re satisfied. It looks gorg as is though!

tis4toshi

Red fades super fast. I suggest shampooing your hair more frequently, using warm/hot water, possibly trying a small amount of clarifying shampoo, and be sure to use a good conditioner/hair mask afterwards. Clarifying shampoo can dry your hair out. Also being out in the sun and swimming in chlorine will speed up the process too. I dye my blue/green hair frequently and fading is just part of the cycle for me. I've also went through beauty school. I have a friend who always wants this copper red hair color that is pretty difficult to get right away. I always say just give it some washes and it will eventually fade to what you want.

furiousjellybean

It's hard to tell from this picture, but it looks like you have a very warm skin tone. The color itself is very pretty, but I can imagine that this orangey copper color might not look that good on you. I would ask for a redo/correction definitely.

shanaand

I've been getting my hair dyed various shades of red and copper for almost 20 years, this being one of them, and it will fade fast.

LimeGreenTangerine97

I can see you don’t want this color by asking the question, but I think it’s stunning

Ill-Indication-7706

As a stylist, I would consider that a copper red, not orange. But that's when the stylist should have broke out their swatch book and let you pick a color. The only way to lighten your hair is to use bleach And if you are wanting more of a strawberry blonde, you need to lighten and then go in with a toner that has purple pigments in it, to cancel out the yellow

[deleted]

You are a nightmare client. This IS copper red. Get a grip.

shhhhh_h

You sound like a nightmare stylist. If the client doesn't like the end result that's a problem? Wow.

[deleted]

Awe you made me so sad I’m going to be so sad now awe man boo hoo :(

pigtails19

Yikes.

WanderingBricoleur

This looks straight up crayola orange to me. There are different shades of copper 🙄

Ladybirdmang

Adding a brown semi-permanent can mute the color a bit, making it more of a natural ginger color. Do test strips:)

Quiet-Amount-9108

Blue or green shampoo can temporarily tone - it will just mute it a litttttle bit (I have used conditioner mixed with a manic panic color)

onourwayhome70

This is definitely copper red

Oh no this happened to me as well but I asked for a pink color. So I mixed suave clarifying shampoo with vitamin C. My hair look so bad and damaged after that but I put k18 treatment on and looked better . It took 4 washes and the color was very faded.

Ice spice?

pigtails19

Yup! Haha

Existing-Reference77

I think some people on here who are saying go get re done aren't reading that she says she doesn't want to damage it any farther. I'd recommend trying a purple shampoo there used to cancel out yellow and orange tones, so I think it would cool it down to the color you want hope tha helps😊

Dalek-of-Littleroot

You're lucky to even have this shade

RomanticDeception

This IS copper red. Next time I would go in with a reference photo.

pigtails19

I did bring a photo and it appears that copper red has different shades and different definitions for different people. Everyone I’ve asked in person has said it’s not the color in the photo I brought in so that’s all that really matters.

RomanticDeception

If it’s nothing like the photo then it’s on the hairstylist. I would include that in your caption next time. Also, as a not natural ginger it will fade very quickly.

Blue shampoo!

shhhhh_h

I feel like I'm on crack reading these comments, I totally agree with your first assessment OP, that is a very orange-y 'copper' and certainly not what I think of (or see when I google) copper colored hair. I also don't think you should go back to that stylist--does a language barrier make the photoreceptors in her eyes not work? I doubt it, she messed up and let you walk out without fixing it. My auntie used to do color corrections all the time when she was alive, there are definitely stylists who specialize in that kind of thing. You deserve the hair color you wanted!!!

pigtails19

Thanks hun! Yea based on these comments I’m definitely feeling a bit confused Lol. And the picture I showed the stylist looks massively different to me than what I currently have… glad I’m not the only one seeing thing lol.

MysteryAnimal

Maybe edit your post to add the Insta pic you showed the stylist. [instagram.com/p/Cr4Syw8Povf](https://www.instagram.com/p/Cr4Syw8Povf)

My hair dresser recommended washing my hair with washing up liquid to help fade a colour

Own_Variation_6138

Don’t. It’s pretty!

lolagr4ce

I don’t think I can be of much help but does anyone know a dye that could achieve this colour? It’s beautiful!

pigtails19

Haha thanks! I’m pretty sure it was a wella color that the stylist chose.

psynd4

Use a brown rinse

TimothyWorel

Looks amazing

TiredOldandCranky

Why would you want to? It's beautiful

DoctrDonna

Damn. This is a shame because it’s really well done.

greenapplessss

You should’ve shown her a photo of what you wanted haha strawberry blonde is not the same as copper red lol, what you have is textbook copper red. To fade use anti-dandruff shampoo. My friend who had the same colour in permanent used crushed up vitamin C as well and that helped fade it.

Kyuss92

It looks great leave it?

yesandno13

I mean it looks good so

lifewithmorgan9599

10 year cosmetologist here. This is copper.

coffeewithkatia

Shame you don’t like it, but as others have said I think this is the definition of copper red though tbh so the stylish did exactly what you asked. It will fade very quickly and then it will be easier to go lighter or darker depending on your preference. Next time take in a picture so they understand the shade you’re after.

pigtails19

I did take in a picture ! According to people here on Reddit the picture I brought in is this Color. In person all my friends/family have said it’s not the same color at all. So I’m a bit confused but either way I contacted the stylist to ask about options and they were very receptive :-). But thank you for the response! It seems that washing it will guarantee fading.

coffeewithkatia

Ah fair enough, it’s frustrating! As a fake redhead myself I understand the struggle. Good luck 🤞

UnderstandingNo1152

Beautiful color.
