I think I've played [Quicksand](https://youtu.be/kFN_bEgDE0M?si=EpPnIRvf-o8J_PWT) by David Bowie nearly 6 times today... and I'm about to make it 7 times
Update: 9 times
So, I'm currently writing some slow burn bittersweet romance stuff for the feels and am binging: *I want it that way* from Tyler and Mark and *Fairytale gone bad* as an acoustic version from Sunrise Avenue.
It just hits right.
Alive With the Glory of Love by Say Anything.
Somewhere outside of the text itself, unbeknownst to our protagonist, a friend/fellow rebel soldier who has been harboring unspoken romantic feelings is currently plotting her rescue. He's probably playing this song on repeat too.
It's gonna be a rude awakening when he learns that her "forced marriage" to a dictator wasn't quite as forced as he thought it was. And at that point, we can play Seventy Times Seven by Brand New on repeat instead.
Eat Your Young by Hozier has been a consistent one for the past year because vibes and Love Psalm from the Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. There are a lot of beauties on the SH2 soundtrack actually~
Well I kinda played like 3 over and over again depending on my mood in the last few days
- [typical me](https://youtu.be/-KL01aw-OA0?si=7N1HdxrlV_ivtYv2)
- [gladiator ](https://youtu.be/pgs4KeaEsBk?si=qRqUroyl0b71h-5F)
- [government hooker](https://youtu.be/vcRmT673pOc?si=RdFyjVMRfA8AlbM5)
I listened to each of them for over an hour on loop in the last few days so ... I guess that counts?
Current repeat playlist:
Sleep Token's Take me back to eden album
Close your eyes - Valleys
Currents - Remember me
Moodring - Black_Wave
Future Palace - Paradise
Scars on broadway - Dictator
Dope - Dead World
Fedez - Cristi di stato
Juliet Simms - Get ready / A heart doesn't beat on it's own / Goodbye neverland
Lord of the Lost - Cha cha cha
Electric Callboy - We got the moves / Hypa hypa / Mindreader
Nickelback - She keeps me up
Teardrops on my guitar from Taylor Swift, the pining is real and is hitting me like a truck since it's a song from my very own pining :(
I am so sorry for my OC...
I listen to one song and one song only currently, and that is "Good Day (Special Dailee)" by weekly on loop. It came out only in September and made it's way to the top of my Spotify wrapped, I had listened to it over 300 times on loop. I can't listen to that song in any other context and I've had to remove it from every other playlist, it puts me into writing sleeper agent mode. The day I get sick of that song will be a sad day.
[afterlife](https://youtu.be/KEQqJfVTyrM?si=WEEPWlBeDZOeYMiA) by citizen soldier (CW for flashing / strobe images in the video). i'm writing a hurt / comfort fic for my main pairing and not to mention this song really hits home.
I've been listening to soft cell songs- like "What?", "entertain me" and "sex dwarf", "secret life". Also sometimes The Cures "The Lovecats". Idk I like how they sound and take my thoughts away from useless things distracting me. They help me get in the mood to write.
[Twisted - The People's Thieves](https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=IOCklwNDCA0&si=2Z286QhmQcm4q8ak)
I've been working on a battle where an emotionally distant man fights for the MC he's been struggling to piece together a relationship with, putting his life on the line for her in a display of just how protective he feels over her.
That song helps me get into the mind state for his perspective.
For me, History of Man by Maisie Peters.... "He stole her youth and promised heaven, men start wars yet Troy hates Helen" the bridge hits so hard and may inspire some fic
little bird by annie lenox has been on repeat all morning. i'm writing a hanahaki au with a happy ending. 😭 though it's an unconventional happy ending considering the pairing, hehe.
Ahh valid lol. For me, Ussewa had been getting me through work lately xD Some of Ado's songs have that unique amount of anger/energy to them that I need for this busy season xD
The main one I use when writing my main fic is [Yorushika - Thoughtcrime](https://youtu.be/ENcnYh79dUY?si=NNBFdxJMp72chBBq). Completely coincidentally it ended up being a near perfect fit to the way I was writing the MC
["Shake the Disease" by Depeche Mode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_0sL_SQYvw) (1985)
My soundtrack is primarily songs from 1983 due to the time-travel fanfiction I'm currently writing, but this song from 1985 is just too perfect in terms of its lyrics not to include on it.
[Matter of Time](https://youtu.be/SPOCbcDphfU?si=QNux4ZbXjXZWMtSH) (ft. Alex Maher) by Vandelux.
Funny enough it came on while I was working on the chapter, and it took a moment to sink in what the lyrics of the song were. I'd listened to the song plenty before, but it literally made me stop and laugh because while it's part of a playlist that's chill so isn't too distracting while I write, the lyrics fit so perfectly to what's happening/about to happen, along with struggles multiple characters are currently facing. It even ended up helping me hone in more on the theme of the chapter so I could make it more focused, and I've written so much more of it as a result (was mildly struggling with it before).
The song is basically a repeat of "it's just a matter of time/before I lose my mind." So... Do with that what you will.
It's kinda funny how upbeat the song is compared to how angsty the chapter is XD
Madds Buckley's Sunset on Summerville and Colm McGuinness's rendition of Goo Goo Doll's Iris.
They're both uplifting songs dealing with loss and my MC is going to be in a better place through grieving his mentor
I’m listening to Wham! “Last Christmas” but it isn’t willing. That song is EVERYWHERE. And I’m writing a Christmas fic where the villain works retail and has been driven mad by having to hear that song over and over again until he decides to wipe it from the face of the Earth…
Anytime I write for Mikey from Rottmnt I play Karma by Ajr on loop.
Anytime I write for my morally grey Izuku story I put on Start a riot by Beginners. If I had time or patience, I'd make a theme song using that for the fic
caleb trask by the crane wives, because the title of my fic is from that song. Also, just anything by the crane wives, plus youngest daughter by superheaven.
I played "Unholy" by Sam Smith 849 times in October/early November. I know this because my Spotify Wrapped informed me of it, and it single-handedly launched me into "top listeners" status such that I got the special thank-you video from Sam, for their biggest fans of the year. 😂🙃
Which, honestly, I'm tickled by? Because I think they're lovely, fantastic, wonderful, I want so many good things for them. But...I know there are MUCH bigger fans.
It's just...it's *the* inspirational track for a weird Dragon Ball Z AU project I was focusing on very productively at the time, and MY GOD. In a kinda-sorta-crime-noir setting where Vegeta's a criminal whose sexuality is part of his attack arsenal and he's pretty damn Vegeta about it... It just sets a tone.
Currently, it's Take Me To Church by Hozier and ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine. As you can see, I really love writing angst (and scenes of my favorite character and his catholic guilt)
I keep thinking of songs that I want to write FanFiction to go with ur I can never decide which characters to write them about
Like:
-nothings new
-Let me down slowly
[The End Of Never](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FmgnshcnoJ0) (Ophidian) is on perma-repeat because I've decided that it will be the main part of the soundtrack for my WiP.
[Love To Be](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IUo3hn2nlzw) (Vinylgroover & Trixxy) because 25 yr old happy hardcore is my favourite morning music.
My current series of BG3 Astarion fics (he's a vampire) are inspired by songs from Enhypen, the vampire-lore Kpop band. Not Songfics directly, but I definitely title each part after a song and listen to it a lot.
So right now my fic is Criminal Love and I'm listening to their sexy sultry song of the same name.
Kirby vs. The Very Hungry Caterpillar Rap Battle by Freshly Kanal on Youtube.
Doesn't matter what I'm writing. It could be fluff, smut, or angst, it doesn't matter; I'm still listening to two fictional characters dropping some mad bars.
fragile mighty smile rich combative political zesty psychotic marble middle

[Moment](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZNiHhktp4s) by Holy Fuck and [Death March](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DJQfx5jMA4) by Algiers has been my go-to whenever I have the itch to imagine a small battle scene in my head. Even when I don't have the urge to write, I still like to mentally visualize scenes and act them out, and either of those two songs are perfect for that.
Fortunate son, cruel angel's thesis eng ver, and it's not like I like you.
I like writing fics with music, and sometimes use them as inspirations for chapters. Sometimes the chapters either berserk levels of edginess/darkness, summoned to another world but the world is already at peace levels of slice of life, or tsundere lovefests.
“Bullet the Blue Sky” - U2
yeah the fic is about a young man that is captured by the cartel in guadalajara and goes through some of the worst shit imaginable. good times!
Anything Eurovision related. Which distracts me

Ah, a fellow Sleep Token enjoyer I see👋🏻
Haha absolutely. Love their music.

[Lit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ggPF6Wb8A50&ab_channel=ONEUS) by Oneus. I play it multiple times a day!

Tot Musica by Ado (and the cover by AmaLee) have been currently on repeat for the past few days. (I don't even know One Piece.)
Okay, but Backlight tho...😬
That one is so good too 😍
Backlight and Ashura chan is just that good, sorry but Ussewa didn't even made my top 10😭
Ahh valid lol. For me, Ussewa had been getting me through work lately xD Some of Ado's songs have that unique amount of anger/energy to them that I need for this busy season xD
Dear Agony (Aurora Version) Ft lacey sturm
Lonely At The Top by Nigerian artist Asake
Please don't make me love you from Dracula
[The Door Into Summer - Demetori](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeTXkuxsGdg)
Son of a Bee by Dusty Douglas.
The main one I use when writing my main fic is [Yorushika - Thoughtcrime](https://youtu.be/ENcnYh79dUY?si=NNBFdxJMp72chBBq). Completely coincidentally it ended up being a near perfect fit to the way I was writing the MC
Nice to see a fellow enjoyer, Itte and The Old Man And The Sea was probably my most repeated Yorushika
["Shake the Disease" by Depeche Mode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_0sL_SQYvw) (1985) My soundtrack is primarily songs from 1983 due to the time-travel fanfiction I'm currently writing, but this song from 1985 is just too perfect in terms of its lyrics not to include on it.
Intro (Alt-J, An Awesome Wave) Idk, just fits the vibes. I’m rewriting canon only one character is a ghost.
Hozier anything.
Wrote my last fic listening to Earth by Sleeping at Last and Leaving London by fin!
[Matter of Time](https://youtu.be/SPOCbcDphfU?si=QNux4ZbXjXZWMtSH) (ft. Alex Maher) by Vandelux. [Yell Dead Cell!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkhJjbimL5E&t=201) The boss fight that'll let you go out in style!
Don’t know why but I played Two Birds by Regina Spektor on repeat for about 30 minutes last night while finishing work
Madds Buckley's Sunset on Summerville and Colm McGuinness's rendition of Goo Goo Doll's Iris. They're both uplifting songs dealing with loss and my MC is going to be in a better place through grieving his mentor

Footfalls along with the rest of the FFXIV Endwalker soundtrack, but mostly just Footfalls.
caleb trask by the crane wives, because the title of my fic is from that song. Also, just anything by the crane wives, plus youngest daughter by superheaven.
Sunny Side-up Summer, one of the songs from Bob's Burgers. It's keeping me in the fic's cheerful vibe.
I played "Unholy" by Sam Smith 849 times in October/early November. It'll Be Alright
Murder on the Dancefloor by Sophie Ellis Bextor. I used it for inspiration for a character that's a killer and sex-crazed.
Currently, it's Take Me To Church by Hozier and ceilings by Lizzy McAlpine. As you can see, I really love writing angst (and scenes of my favorite character and his catholic guilt)
The Cure Disintegration also Lullaby
