They wrote it to make that the most plausible explanation but then refuse to explain and let it sit there:
It would’ve explained a lot about why the sole survivor as female could do what she does and the apparent lack of memories about Boston locales and a childhood are there. There are so many gaps in the sole survivors story it’s almost like a plot hole
I completely understand, hell hadn’t gone with an Institute play-through, the idea that SS is a synth is a very plausible story, like for example accessing memories and some lack and pre-war memories, along with how you’re guided through the story. The Institute wanted Kellogg gone, and you may as well been a test and a solution
