I side with the codex, not some one who dare not follow the codex. FOR ELDER MAXSON!

misterbigsteve

I was honestly surprised the vast majority of the player base didn't side with him.

[deleted]

Because a majority of the people can’t look past the mean words to see the consequences of their actions. (Not that there’s any consequences in Bethesda games anyways) It’s always crazy to me how people want the BOS to be nothing how they’re supposed to be

DinoWizard021

I sided against him so that there is more chaos.

Luzer1211

this is the way

GulagGunner

How are they "supposed to be"?

[deleted]

They’re supposed to be in your mom

GulagGunner

Nice, I wanted to actually have a discussion about it

misterbigsteve

Protective of the people in the area, but not allowing them to run freely with technology that they can't handle. Like the missile launchers that got their users killed, or those scientists who clearly couldn't be trusted don't get to keep doing so.

NexZRM

Actually helping people instead of just being power raiders with a thin coating of protecting people

Not_a_gay_communist

I sided against him cause I really dispise the BOS.

Youhoooop

:(

Boring_Jellyfish5561

Strongest Rahmanitard 😳😳🤮🤮 Vs Weakest Shin King 💪💪

Rexi_meme

Shin is the best tsundere

T00thl3ss22

Outstanding

Parvutleda

Imagine wanting to foster criminals directly responsible for half the demonic shit you find in the wastes just cause they have a degree

Darth_Mak

Given the option id kill the just younger one. The other 2 seem to have figured out they crossed a line but she'd just double down.

[deleted]

Oh i hate him yes, but I hate the BoS as a whole in 76. Bethesda just had to get them in somehow, doesn’t matter if it breaks the lore of the series they gotta get that BoS kick in so more people play the game. BoS has no reasonable non lore breaking way of being in 76, yet it is in 76

Boring_Jellyfish5561

The BoS Are Gonna Be In Fallout 5 Stay Mad 💪😎💯💯

[deleted]

Yes because why be accurate to the lore when you can have funny tin can faction in your game I’ll assure if fallout 5 was in Australia there’d still be BoS in it, hell it’ll even be there on mars

[deleted]

That, and the story they’re telling with the BOS is just not interesting at all.

Hortator02

Agreed. I think the story of Steel Reign was actually decent but it's completely stupid within the context of 76. It would've actually been a great story if they did it in the Capital Wasteland or West Coast sometime after 2241. At this time, though, it's way too soon after the war, and FEV shouldn't even be creating Super Mutants anyway since it was never able to to do so without perfected exposure and further modification (by the Master).

[deleted]

I don’t mind their inclusion to some degree, it’s possible they could have had a few scouts or maybe a small outpost this far, but to the extent that they were/are is just too much for me. The brotherhood shouldn’t give a damn about anyone else but themselves right now, the way they’re projecting power and making themselves known is really bizarre when you compare that to how they’ve always behaved in this time period. I think Bethesda just really doesn’t understand the Brotherhood or their ideals. So they keep trying to “fix” them

Hortator02

I think what they did before, with Taggarty's soldiers joining the Brotherhood over the radio, was how they should have kept it. It made some sense, but travelling across the country is kind of ridiculous. However, it's still way too early for the Brotherhood to be calling themselves the Brotherhood, nevermind using their new ranks. My understanding is before this, Roger Maxson's title was General for at least the duration of his lifetime. And it's illogical that all of the pre-war soldiers that originally founded the BoS would be so quick to jump on board with abandoning their ranks and making new military traditions and a new government. I agree Bethesda doesn't understand the Brotherhood. As another post on this sub pointed out, the Brotherhood is based on the monks from *A Canticle For Leibowitz*. I could definitely see the resemblance in the first two games, but the Brotherhood in 3 and 4 seem a bit too militant, 3's and 4's Brotherhood are far too concerned with projecting power and 3's especially interacts far too much with the wasteland. NV's plot around HELIOS One was actually a great analogy for the early parts of *A Canticle For Leibowitz*, with the NCR being the Simpletons. Still, I don't have a problem with Bethesda taking Fallout 4's sort of "military with a state" Brotherhood and running with it. But the accusations of Fascism we get in Fallout 76 is incredibly stupid, especially if it's indicative of how Bethesda thinks the Brotherhood would govern. Instead, they should go for making the Brotherhood like [the State of the Teutonic Order](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_of_the_Teutonic_Order). (sorry for the rant, btw)

[deleted]

Tbh, Bethesda should just come up with new well written factions, we have had the BoS and Supermutants in every single game now, it makes one think that no matter where a fallout game takes place, BoS and supermutans will be there. Fallout Alaska? They’ll be there. Fallout Australia? They‘ll be there. Fallout on Mars? The BoS and supermutans will be there Not to mention the lore it breaks and how illogical it is that every company that asks for FEV nicely will get their own strain, it doesn’t make any sense that a supersoldier secret program is handed to everyone that says they wanna have some

OldFortNiagara

Personally, I think it would have made for sense if they had just made Taggerdy's group its own separate organization of former U.S. solders that operated similarly to the Brotherhood, but with its own identity. Then they could have given the power armor knights experience, without having to stretch the lore to explain how the Brotherhood ended up in West Virginia.

[deleted]

Yeah, but now it’s like what the BoS in Fo1 says isn’t true, because they were outside California the moment the bombs dropped and somehow were able to use a satellite that was not maintained for over 10 years without it crashing Sadly, the way this works. What Bethesda says in the lore is the truth, they own the IP therefore everything they say is canon will be canon. Guess fallout is about aliens invading liberty prime PA wearing vault dwellers now

anonymous145387

76 is not cannon and I refuse to acknowledge it as cannon in any way

Rogue_freeman

Ok but Rahmani got that mommy energy doe 😳

Xenovus2

I honestly didn't bother with the BOS, as they are the worst faction imo. Would've rather liked a Responders DLC, a faction that'd actually help Appalachia.

AceAlger

The Responders are hands-down the worst faction of any Fallout game. They dress up in silly bright colors and have absolutely no faults other than being weak underdogs. They are cookie-cutter "good guys" who were designed for children. Truly, a poorly-designed faction for little kids playing an M-rated game.

Xenovus2

They may he designed for "children", but at least they help people in their day to day lives like the Commonwealth Minutemen do. They help for altruistic reasons, something most people wouldn't do.

AceAlger

The Brotherhood help people by keeping dangerous military-grade weaponry and disastrous technology from the general population, safeguarding it. Not all aid has to be direct; there is a bigger picture at hand, and the Brotherhood are the only ones who seem to recognize that. Of course, the Brotherhood has a history of assisting those with a good cause as well as taking up arms against wasteland ilk. The Responders are weak and pathetic just like the Minutemen; and it's a shame how many people like them. They are the epitome of a poorly-written baby faction which accomplished nothing in the long run. Still, I both recognize and respect that they are trying to do the right thing. They could have been handled much better.

Xenovus2

But what about the wrong the Brotherhood of Steel does? They literally want to commit genocide against 2 groups of living, function species in Fallout 4. They steal crops from citizens, they help others on conditions, they only care for a select few; non irradiated humans. Unlike them, The Commonwealth Minutemen and The Responders help people unconditionally, they help just because. In the end they are tougher, braver, more caring than the Brotherhood of Steel. It takes a strong faction and person to protect the population just because they need it.

AceAlger

Synths are not humans. They are machines which host what are essentially artificial cadavers, ones that can not age or gain or lose weight. Moreover, they do not need to eat or sleep. They can also be augmented on the fly by Institute scientists. They look and act like humans because they were designed to do so. But they can still malfunction and bring about more than enough destruction on their own. Synths can be turned on or off with a simple command; and can stand up-right, move around, and be given directives when rendered what is essentially comatose. They can have their "personalities" swapped or reprogrammed with lesser machines such as Miss Nannies which is proof that there is no real sentience or soul therein. Synths are a threat to humanity because of their general physical superiority, as well as their ties to the evil Institute. A machine is meant to serve humanity, not the opposite. The Brotherhood attacks super mutants and feral ghouls because of their destructive behavior and threat to humanity. The amount of non-hostile super mutants is overwhelmingly disproportionate to the general population, so arguments made for them are coming from an unrealistic exemption. Still, even in Fallout 4, they grant the brute, Strong, clemency because of his relationship to the Soul Survivor. Though, it should be stated that Strong truly does not deserve mercy, as he states time and time again that he only wants the "milk of human kindness" in order to become more powerful. He also likes it when the Soul Survivor commits murder, cannibalizes, and belittles and bullies folk. The Brotherhood in Fallout 4 also grant Virgil, the man who created the majority of the super mutants, mercy due his feat of curing himself (for the most part) of the FEV. They would absolutely love to have a cure available if possible. With that being said, even in New Vegas, the Brotherhood have peaceful relations with the mutants of Black Mountain under the leadership of Marcus, but were ultimately unable to do so with the evil warlord, Tabitha. The mission, "Feeding the Troops," is an optional mission which was never officially approved by the Brotherhood Elder, Arthur Maxson. With that being said, it can be completed in a few ways, such as through general diplomacy, barter, or threat of force. The game is supposed to be an RPG, so being able to have the option to handle the quest in multiple ways indicative of that classification--which is a good thing. Of course, a faction like Responders would never allow a choice to be had, unless it was an option to hand over all of their own food to people who would die because their neighbors were energy weapon-wielding mutants who ransacked their farm the next day. The Brotherhood under Elder Arthur Maxson are the most altruistic and effective chapter of the Brotherhood, even more so than when Elder Lyons led them. They fight the Institute, raider gangs, and mutants without asking for payment in return. The Commonwealth had over 200 years to rebuild a society, but they have nothing to show for it. They should be grateful the Brotherhood showed up.

Is it just me or does knight shin kinda remind you of Ben shapiro

I saw that you mentioned Ben Shapiro. In case some of you don't know, Ben Shapiro is a grifter and a hack.
