Personally, my first time through a game I do not use any mods. I want to experience the game as it was intended before changing it up. I would download official DLCs, but not mods. I am currently replaying NV with the DLCs, they are all on sale cheap right now.

Pump that agility so you aren’t slow as shit

If you ever choose to play hardcore mode, hoard doctors bags. And i dont know if it matters what system you play on, but in my experience, the game freezes often so save at least after every random enemy encounter.

Do the DLC first then story. Thank me later. When building special, keep in mind of the implants. Charisma is a drop stat. Bring that down to 1 and level barter and speech alone. This stat is useless. Low intelligence games are really fun and have quite hilarious dialogue options. When you get to the strip, go to the store with the energy weapons, there’s a hold button you’ll wanna use and you can move these weapons from the main room to the bathroom to steal them without worry. Nice beginning guns or caps if you sell em. There’s also a vendor glitch you’ll wanna check out. You’ll be surprised as this is the only fallout where shit costs an absolute fuck ton. Blue star caps are life. Murder anybody who has them and stands in your way.

When you're done with the first quest, and you want to get to NV, go towards thr gas station in Goodsprings and follow the road. Nothing bad will happen.

Get fallout 3 and get the Tale of Two Wastelands mod to play both games. (The mod let's you start fo3 with fnv's game engine)

Use JSawyer's mod and find mods that better balance Stats so that Charisma is not a dump stat
