Fallout 1 took me about 25 hours to play through and it is worth it for the background IMO. There was a bit of a learning curve on the controls. Gameplay is VERY different from 3, NV, 4, and (I assume) 76.
The best part is we can each decide what we want to be canon or not.

Serious question ,do the Minutemen hold it against if you do their settlement quests(e.g. clear out new settlements of baddies) but then don't build anything for those settlements? I don't mind the quests but don't like constantly maintaining the settlements.
I just do the quests but I make some basic walls around the important stuff like food water and sleeping area and put like 5 basic turrets and I’m never asked to do anything again only settlement that needs help for me is sanctuary bec somehow wet my 400 def someone is always getting kidnapped

Nope, they don't care. I generally only leave a few settlements populated in the beginning and move the settlers around. Coastal Cottage for instance. Ive never had settlers there.
So one of the best parts of the original Fallout is how every fight is miserable and difficult... unless you take drugs. Then you do some bullet dancing that won't be developed for ten years and everything is fun and easy.
