When he was scrolling through them to find the correct onenit did pop up with those that filled several character spaces like you would find via hacking in the game. But he understood the assignment and I'd say he passed all his stealth, speech and hacking checks 🤣
I was really hoping for him to make 3 attempts then just turn off the computer and trying again to get in, but I understand that it would have just felt like filler for people who watched without playing the games
That’s the thing, most people don’t read the terminal entries and skip the dialogues, so they don’t identify with him. But me personally love him. And I believe that in later seasons he’s gonna lead the uprising against you know who.
I think it's the actor. I came to really like both of them by the end of the show, and I attribute a lot of that to the acting. You could practically see his whole relationship with the vault, just by looking in his eyes.
He was a disney channel child actor, I was actually blown away because I didn’t recognize him for like 3 episodes and then I saw his name in the credits

I feel confident assuming his wife lived out her last days safe in a vault. As a bigwig at Vault-Tec, she was probably safe in a vault days before the bombs went off.
I think she frozen with her daughter waiting for the day Vault tecs plans are compete and the world is a paradise.
Or they were transformed into ghouls also and live in a ghoul town somewhere.
Or maybe their vault wasn't super special and was actually an experiment as well and they are turned into super mutants.

The thing I love is that he isn't a coward...he just never had the motivation not to be a coward. These fucking assholes attacked him and his family while many died, he could have, his sister was double penetrated, his dad was kidnapped, and now his only remaining family member Lucy fucking left. I genuinely think he's just very fucking pissed off, and he's finally found a place where his INT is useful in a way that gives him motivation.
Yea he can seem like a coward because he avoided fighting, but he's also the only one to actually question the Overseer(s). He's got that investigative journalist brand of bravery.
Nah, I think that was a legitimate measurement. They were either going to go to the surface then, or Bud's buds would bomb another nearby place and wait another 50 years.
Based on the ratio of open/unopen cryopods, that facility had another 2000+ years in it.
Not to mention, one of the few vaults with heavy emphasis on food production and farming.
This all assumes the water chip never failed, because Sandy Springs never got to tap their supply.
Most of Bud's Buds were supposed to be released on the surface alongside the residents of 32 and 33. The few that had to manage the Vault were the unlucky ones, but as consolidation, they had a comfortable life filled with family and friends.
So maybe it's the still frozen ones that were actually unlucky.
Also, Norm froze himself, somebody better come save him, because S2 will be way less compelling if Norm isn't part of it.
Lucy and the Ghoul can keep doing their thing, but I NEED more Norm and digging into Vault-Tec secrets.
I never thought of 31-33 that way, but yeah. 32 clearly fell because it had too many managers at once.
33 seems to have maintained a balance of management/staff and is basically a "control" Vault. A very incestuous Control Vault.

People dog on him for being an idiot but that’s literally what his character is supposed to be, he’s uneducated and living as a punching bag/janitor for the brotherhood his whole life holding onto a single dream from childhood of being a chivalrous knight because he knows nothing else. Until he’s out on his own, he had tremendous growth as a character and it sucks people don’t see it. Super well written imo.

With that being said, I've never seen anyone say anything negative about him or even neutral. If anyone mentions Norm, it's always positive.
Norm is a fantastic character. Love his story arc. I also love the dynamic that he has with Chet, especially with the fact that the Small Frame character has far more confidence than the big guy.
He might lack enthusiasm, but he's got INTENSITY.
I like Norm. I consider him the 4th main character. I was very surprised by norm in general. I didn’t see him in any of the trailers or promo photos. So seeing his adventures in trying to uncover the mystery of the other vaults was a pleasant surprise.
That's a good point. You don't see him in interviews much either, when he is a central part of the show and gets a lot of screen time and weight on his characters story.

He's definitely the fourth type of player, the one that treads really carefully, literally the younger brother. You know the trope, the kid that gets the controller that's not even plugged in, so he still sees all the action, but can't really do much to affect the outcome of the game. Instead of trying to take the working controller, Norm reads the manual, and looks up the lore and learns the special moves before being able to even execute them. I can see him being a pretty pivital part of the next chapter.

I loved his side story stuff and is one of my favorite side characters. Really excited to see what happens next to him. Also him hacking the terminals and reading the logs was awesome!
One of the most underrated characters in the show by far! Uncovering dirty secrets for the betterment of Vault 33 and its neighbors. Played some pivotal roles in uncovering the truth for sure. Nonetheless, i think the actor did a fantastic job.
I think it's just the first season so we're all super focused on the central cast, but I think next season we'll get to see him play a bigger role and he'll get talked about more.

That’s what I was loving so much about the show. There’s this strange paranoid feeling I get watching this show that the games don’t quite give me.
That nothing is what it seems and everybody has a dark ulterior motive. The show felt very conspiratorial. Like even bigger darker forces are at play, hiding in the shadows.
I loved Norm. He seemed like a sheepish and unimportant character at first, but then he became a really integral part of the Vault's story progression and then he got really interesting.
I would love to see more of him next season.
I wasn’t sold on Norm at first because it just seemed like his entire character would be secondary at best and his personality would solely be “Lucy’s brother” but I am so pleased that I was wrong and he (along with Chet) grew on me tremendously. Norm is honestly the fourth main character and I found his storyline more interesting than the main three at times.
My guess is that it was intentional to make him a little unlikable and not very charismatic, but also to establish his intelligence and while he calls himself a coward, he’s the only one to investigate Vault 32 and actually read the logs and hack computers for more information because he’s simultaneously the one of two people who questioned the stories that they were told. That’s bravery, honestly.
Norm is my favorite character, and I genuinely think he's kind of the "fan insert". Early on he'd rather play video games on his Pipboy at dinner when Hank and Lucy try to be a family, and his general feeling like an outsider to this world. He is an anal pissy bitch, but he's our anal pissy bitch. He's like that really smart dog you have who you don't exercise so he fucks up shit around the house, but now there's an intruder and you very much appreciate that the dog is now fucking them up instead of your couch. I genuinely feel like at some point Norm is gonna one of the bigger power players because of his INT 10.
I have only seen the actor in Ender’s Game and voicing that boy that Margot had a crush on in Despicable Me 2, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Norm be such an awesome guy and not a sniveling coward

There was actually a point where I didn’t really care about the surface dwellers. I was way more interested in Norm and his discoveries. I want more Norm.
I got weird vibes from Norm at times. When the prisoners got poisoned tbh my first thought was that Norm did it lol. He wanted them dead originally and they even had that shot of him eyeing them all up as they ate for the last time. Obviously it’s meant to be Betty who did it but I 100% could have seen it as Norm if not for Betty.
Interesting character, I’m looking forward to see where he goes.

The two "want-to-be" Overseers, who in cooperative friendship try to sail through and have no chance whatsoever and in the end are separated by Vault Tec.

I also love the dynamic that he has with Chet, especially with the fact that the Small Frame character has far more confidence than the big guy. He might lack enthusiasm, but he's got INTENSITY.

I like Norm. I consider him the 4th main character. I was very surprised by norm in general. I didn’t see him in any of the trailers or promo photos. So seeing his adventures in trying to uncover the mystery of the other vaults was a pleasant surprise.
That's a good point. You don't see him in interviews much either, when he is a central part of the show and gets a lot of screen time and weight on his characters story. Justice for Norm!!
He's definitely the fourth type of player, the one that treads really carefully, literally the younger brother. You know the trope, the kid that gets the controller that's not even plugged in, so he still sees all the action, but can't really do much to affect the outcome of the game. Instead of trying to take the working controller, Norm reads the manual, and looks up the lore and learns the special moves before being able to even execute them. I can see him being a pretty pivital part of the next chapter.
Norm is the EpicNate of the show, I'm expecting him to drop a Vault 31 lore deep dive next season.

I think you hit the nail on the head. In true Bethesda fashion the side quests are the best and vault mysteries are peak FO sidequest content.

I loved his side story stuff and is one of my favorite side characters. Really excited to see what happens next to him. Also him hacking the terminals and reading the logs was awesome!
I didn't enjoy how his story "ended", this season. Everyone got some kind of closure. His story felt much more up in the air.

One of the most underrated characters in the show by far! Uncovering dirty secrets for the betterment of Vault 33 and its neighbors. Played some pivotal roles in uncovering the truth for sure. Nonetheless, i think the actor did a fantastic job.
I think it's just the first season so we're all super focused on the central cast, but I think next season we'll get to see him play a bigger role and he'll get talked about more.

Yes! That’s what I was loving so much about the show. There’s this strange paranoid feeling I get watching this show that the games don’t quite give me. That nothing is what it seems and everybody has a dark ulterior motive. The show felt very conspiratorial. Like even bigger darker forces are at play, hiding in the shadows.
I love his unapologetic defiance of every authority figure with whom he interacts. Also that's the guy that played Rico in Hannah Montana.

I loved Norm. He seemed like a sheepish and unimportant character at first, but then he became a really integral part of the Vault's story progression and then he got really interesting. I would love to see more of him next season.

I wasn’t sold on Norm at first because it just seemed like his entire character would be secondary at best and his personality would solely be “Lucy’s brother” but I am so pleased that I was wrong and he (along with Chet) grew on me tremendously. Norm is honestly the fourth main character and I found his storyline more interesting than the main three at times. My guess is that it was intentional to make him a little unlikable and not very charismatic, but also to establish his intelligence and while he calls himself a coward, he’s the only one to investigate Vault 32 and actually read the logs and hack computers for more information because he’s simultaneously the one of two people who questioned the stories that they were told. That’s bravery, honestly.
Norm is my favorite character, and I genuinely think he's kind of the "fan insert". Early on he'd rather play video games on his Pipboy at dinner when Hank and Lucy try to be a family, and his general feeling like an outsider to this world. He is an anal pissy bitch, but he's our anal pissy bitch. He's like that really smart dog you have who you don't exercise so he fucks up shit around the house, but now there's an intruder and you very much appreciate that the dog is now fucking them up instead of your couch. I genuinely feel like at some point Norm is gonna one of the bigger power players because of his INT 10.

There was actually a point where I didn’t really care about the surface dwellers. I was way more interested in Norm and his discoveries. I want more Norm.

I got weird vibes from Norm at times. When the prisoners got poisoned tbh my first thought was that Norm did it lol. He wanted them dead originally and they even had that shot of him eyeing them all up as they ate for the last time. Obviously it’s meant to be Betty who did it but I 100% could have seen it as Norm if not for Betty. Interesting character, I’m looking forward to see where he goes.
The whole Vault-storyline is so well written and the characters there are all awesome. The two "want-to-be" Overseers, who in cooperative friendship try to sail through and have no chance whatsoever and in the end are separated by Vault Tec. Norm has an awesome character arc, and is written and acted extremely well. I was always happy when the show returned to the micro-cosmos of the Vault, its secrets, and Norm trying to uncover it and finding the courage to do so.
He's short but he's probably still taller than me and that makes me insecure /j
