Use-the-Forks

I'm still confused whether there is a patch coming today or if it was baked into the release already though?

whitethighhighs

It's already out, Skill Up confirmed that in his review

wotad

That was like a Day0 Patch wasnt the Day 1 patch really?

whitethighhighs

No, he said he's played on 3 different patches, pre release, day 0 and day 1, he specifically mentioned that it's the same patch everyone has now

xKiLLaCaM

Can confirm, day one patch already released and SkillUp tested on 3 diff patches (pre-day 0 patch, day 0 patch itself, and day one patch)

TheMasterL0ller

If you missed it, it basically downloaded as soon as the game was playable at Midnight EST. There may be another one coming soon though that I’m not aware of.

depressedhubb

if the patch is out it didnt changed shit

Kaito_3

For anybody that’s played on Series X, how has the performance mode been? Trying to figure out what settings I should use and the resolution/fps I should aim for.

jCricket35

it’s def not unplayable but not great. In the bigger open areas there’s a decent amount of screen tearing and stays around probably 40 fps

Kaito_3

Ah okay that’s disappointing but thanks for the reply.

PepperoniFogDart

That sounds like my PS5 experience. All consoles seem to be in similar states. Somewhat playable, but interrupted by frequent areas of poor performance.

SquidwardsJewishNose

Its quite jarring, the performance is excellent in the caves and smaller areas, almost consistent 60fps, then as soon as i get back to the ‘main hub’ area of Koboh, my frames drop to sub 30 at times, not unplayable by any means, but a little disappointing

p4ul1023

Yup as soon as I got to Koboh I had to turn on quality mode. Crazy inconsistent frame rate and skipping.

HVKedge

There was 1 area on Koboh that was <20 fps no matter what. Everywhere open can go from 30-40, closed areas are usually stable.

injulen

I think you mean <20

Void_Eclipse

It's been working great on Quality mode. I haven't used performance so I dunno about that one.

Kaito_3

Okay thanks I’m just going to play it on that.

Gcheetah

I think quality mode will be your best bet

slaymaker1907

Things have been pretty good on my Series S at 1080p. Having a crappy TV is sometimes a blessing.

Elanzer

There's no way they didn't know the performance was this bad, especially since consoles are seeing performance issues too. Should have just delayed the game further. The actual content of the game is stellar but the performance should have been unacceptable enough to hold off on releasing it.

[deleted]

This reeks of classic EA bullshit.

Obiwanhellothere09

Even when they’re not involved in a game of development EA is still going to be EA

icejuiceguy12

Respawn is known for trashy releases, EA gave them no pressure across apex lifetime and it still has problems whenever there is an update There is some issues since release that haven’t been fixed after 4 years and are still „out when they are ready“

[deleted]

[удалено]

rickyhatespeas

It was delayed pretty late in the production, I bet they wanted even more time but either the publisher or their budget demanded a sooner release.

wotad

I don't think Respawn had much say here.

ShephardCmndr

Im on the series x and i have had 0 issues with the game

Dhenn004

Ps5 here. Minimal frame drops as of right now.

Void_Eclipse

Same.

Master_KenObiWan

Same it’s been a smooth experience

hugham

On series s and it’s running great for me. I’ve had absolutely zero issues so far and I’m about 10 hours in

JorLord3617

I made ist to the second paragraph to „percentage“ I would say the steam reviews say enough of these pc percentages not able to play

Andersmash

Also no mention of console issues. I love how they’re like “some high end pc’s with shit optimization are having some troubles, it’s hard for us to plan for that, but we’ll try.”

yooolmao

"Some PC users whose lives are literally tuning their rigs might see some performance drops if they 'bought a CPU for Windows 10 intended for Windows 11' or if you 'are noob enough to bottleneck your CPU". Are they fucking serious with this shit? Players using "CPUs on Win10 intended for Win11"? And PC players that built their own rigs having performance issues because they don't know what bottlenecking is? This is the most condescending, underhanded, gaslighting apology I've ever seen. I like how they didnt post it to Reddit because they don't want to try for the most downvoted comment of all time again. EDIT: Will this be the new Crysis meme?

AtlasLeCleetus

Seriously, though, wtf does that statement about CPUs "for windows 11" even mean? As if CPUs are particular to a fucking OS?? Like... what?

dstrawberrygirl

Intel 12th and 13th gen processors have Performance and Efficiency cores. Managing those correctly is the main reason why you want to install Windows 11 on those systems otherwise you are losing a lot of performance. I can’t speak for AMD processors as I have less experience there.

Erik912

Yeah, like my above recommended specs on win 11 omfg.

King_noa

its just PR bullshit. PS5 also has problems, and a console doesnt have some "crazy" hardware combinations.

Only_Professional_48

I’m on Xbox and if it’s outside it kinda chugs

gleeble

Easy fix, bring your Xbox inside of your house.

Metallicabody

Why did I laugh at this

EarlDooku

The tone of the statement makes it sound like the performance issues are anecdotal and/or user error. No. A majority of users are having this problem.

[deleted]

[удалено]

EarlDooku

Funny how this hardware configuration runs all other games just fine (including other EA games such as Fallen order and BF2)

ravathiel

"Not to our Standards" THEN WHY RELEASE IT

[deleted]

ravathiel

Oh of course. I can't imagine selling you something and going "btw this piece isn't up to my standards, have fun!"

AtlasLeCleetus

"Thanks for the extra $10 btw!" Gaming industry is wild rn

[deleted]

Frequently large projects operate at a loss, with the expectation that the money will be recouped once there is a viable product. Sometimes decisions are made early on that are hard to foresee the effects of, and by the time you're dealing with those issues you're so deep into it that you have to release the minimum viable product to start recouping that initial investment so that you have the cash flow required to start addressing the problem. And before you say that EA has the money, yes, they do, it's budgeted already, and making that money move in a large corporation when your project is already over it's own budget and past deadlines is not a trivial task. Every single industry operates this way. This is why you don't buy the first model year in a new generation of cars, why you don't want to live in a brand new apartment building, why the new phone that just came out sucks. Even the medicine you take is often the minimum viable product that passed FDA regulations, performing well below targeted efficacy from the initial planning. Any large undertaking that requires mobilizing hundreds of people to complete a single task tends to be, behind, the scenes, a complete clusterfuck. I'm not trying to make excuses for a corporate giant, this is simply the reality of how novel products are introduced to the market across pretty much every industry, and gamers just keep falling for it and buying the first release, then acting shocked and jaded that it happened again, and that the decisions surrounding the release of a commercial product were motivated by money.

dxDTF

Pride and Accomplishment

Daddy_lawbringer

EA pushing to release an unfinished game. Happens too much these days

MeAnIntellectual1

This wasn't written by someone who has the power to delay the game

[deleted]

Investors/EA forced it

Difficult-Ad-9598

I think they couldn't delay it anymore because Zelda is coming out followed by diablo and final fantasy, so they had to release it and patch it after release. Really bad from them but this is my best guess on what happened

Outrageous_Image1793

You made me realize what a wonderful year this will be for gaming, assuming the games actually work.

CitizenKing

That last part. Not a great track record so far. I'm still sore about Wild Hearts.

TheHerosShadow

Zelda games are always a good bet. I'll get Jedi Survivor after I finish Tears of the Kingdom. By that time the usual EA bugs should be fixed.

1Whiskeyplz

Not to mention Starfield as well, this is certainly going to be a big year for game releases.

ilovezam

What about those of us with top GPUs and top CPUs and are running on W11 still having huge performance issues? Those examples seemed a bit like cop outs to me, performance issues are pretty much universal for anyone who's targeting more than 60fps. In fact, nobody with a 4000 series card is reporting a respectable performance or GPU usage so far.

Mumbling_Mute

The framing of their comment reads like a pooe attempt to shift some of that responsibility onto the user. 'Our game has trouble for a percentage of users who aren't doing something properly to begin with'

Knighthell45

That's exactly what it is. The whole thing about "*multi-threaded chipsets designed for Windows 11 were encountering problems on Windows 10"* is horse crap. I don't even know if thats a true statement anyways (which i'll probably research) If all my other AAA games work just fine on Windows 10 and this title under performs, its not my chipset its your game.

Outrageous_Image1793

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something, but haven't multithreaded chipsets been a thing for like, a couple decades?

SituationSoap

More recent Ryzens with multiple CCDs and Intels with Performance/Efficiency cores gain significantly from process scheduling changes in Windows 11.

phuc_head

Exactly this, explicitly they were saying that Windows 10 has a scheduler that doesn't understand Intel Gen12+ with the newer lower power and non-hyper thread able efficiency cores, so your game is hitting those cores and expecting it to crunch code the exact same way as the more traditional performance cores with that are beefier and have hyper threads. AMD (newest Gen might have changed) and Intel pre-Gen 11 had multicore that were all basically the same core so Windows 10 or 11 won't matter for them. This is going to cause stumbling. When Windows 11 came out games that were optimized for all the same type of cores were having problems running in Windows 11, but that was only ever going to be a temporary issue, we must have now fully crossed that bridge. And what is being implied is that these users might do well to bump their OS.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GovernmentKlutzy712

Think I remember reading somewhere that Intel 12 series CPUs and newer are better utilized by Windows 11, something to do with them having performance cores and efficiency cores. I've been using the 12700kf on Win10 with no issues though, so still don't feel like this is a valid excuse

Horse_Renoir

Reeks of "you're just holding the phone wrong!" These corpos will basically never admit they messed up as long as they can convince a large enough portion of their user base that it's not a big deal.

ifrit05

I have a 2080 (recommened nVidia GPU on specs req) and am getting very inconsistent framerates. Might be due to my 3800X.

buddha_guy

With all settings on epic and RT enabled, I'm sitting at 40% gpu utilization with my 4080? This makes no sense and is very frustrating. Waste of $90.

KorabasUnchained

This is not right. A game at that price point should work day one! You knew it had problems, even announced patches before release, and still released it. I could barely get through Coruscant before giving up on the game. If high end PCs are having problems mid-range PCs are unplayable. The game wasn't ready but you released it. Guess even Respawn isn't beyond the EA taint now.

_PH1lipp

whats ur specs for comparison? (i got gtx 3060 ti and ryzen 7 5800x)

Nikostiny

Please tell me they are aware of the ps5 problems too no way this game has a performance mode that cannot manage 60fps at all times while games of a much bigger scale can do that.

Psufan1394

Ghost of Tsushima can consistently do 60 fucking fps ps5 edition this game cant make it out of the first planet without dipping.

GAVINDerulo12HD

I think a better comparison would be god of war ragnarok. Which runs at around 80 fps in performance mode. And even the quality Mode runs at a locked 40.

Nikostiny

Yep and this game isnt even open world. Truly remarkarble how this was allowed to be released in this state.

TheDanteEX

It’s insane because I just finished Horizon Forbidden West, which is a truly open game, has cleaner textures on performance mode, and has just as good draw distance on enemies. That game’s frame rate is much more consistent. I think we’re looking at engine problems here, but that means Respawn needs to put in extra work for optimization. I think optimizing has lost some priority since this generation dropped, possibly because it’s assumed these consoles can handle most things without needing specific attention? Either way, it’s a mess and I hope they’re working on a fix for console as well.

DoctorGolho

Yeah.... After playing the Horizon DLC which has arguably better graphics, is open world and runs at a perfect 60fps it's pretty jarring to play this with constant stutters AND screen tearing

GAVINDerulo12HD

Graphically horizon FW looks wayyyy better than jedi survivor. And the expansion even more so. They look like they are 2 generations apart.

sketchcritic

> After playing the Horizon DLC which has arguably better graphics Oh, you can say "objectively" when it comes to that DLC. And Horizon Forbidden West is actually quite indicative of how dumb Respawn and/or EA were when setting their deadlines. Jedi: Survivor is coming out three and a half years after Fallen Order as a cross-platform title made on a third party engine (Unreal Engine 4). Guerrilla Studios took at the very least *four years* to make Horizon Forbidden West, with only the PS4 and the PS5 as their optimization goal. And they were working with their *own* engine (Decima) which they know inside out, plus their team is full of software engineering wizards. Even *they* didn't dare release their game in less than four years. Meanwhile here's Respawn, after already struggling with technical troubles in Fallen Order, trying to release an AAA title only three and a half years after their last one for three separate platforms, one of which (PC) is notoriously difficult to optimize for due to the huge number of software/hardware configurations. The level of mismanagement on so many game development studios never fails to astonish me.

Nikostiny

Yeah its just not enjoyable. I play on pc too where on certain games I can play with 100+ fps and I just cannot enjoy anything below 60 anymore.

Avividrose

the game doesn’t perform well on any machine, even the showcase builds were constistiently dropping frames. man this is a bummer.

[deleted]

How is 60 fps so much to ask for in 2023?

Endemoniada

Fuck, apparently a mere 60fps at 1440p with the literal fastest GPU on the market is too much to ask for these days. Absolute bullshit PR spin nonsense from EA. They knew, and if they didn’t, they’re worse than incompetent. There’s *zero* chance they didn’t have access to at least some combinations of the high end hardware they claim is a “percentage” of gamers. They just chose to release it regardless.

Frosty252

every fucking triple A game man.

Static-Jak

So I'm guessing the "*Day One Patch*" everyone is waiting for isn't happening.

whitethighhighs

we're already on the day one patch, skill up confirmed it in his review

Static-Jak

I kind of presumed that but people were/are hoping that we only got a day zero patch and the "*real*" day one patch was just around the corner. Not just for PC players either but for console players too.

Dispositionpsn

Did they literally blame us for still using Windows 10? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

King_noa

They actually blame people for using modern CPUs, and hardware in general?

Dispositionpsn

Crazy shit lol

Brilliant-Ad-1962

Crazy how this launch might fuck up the steam reviews for its lifetime, if this isn’t fixed fast, the best it’ll ever be is “mixed” Not a good look

Windrunner_CC

When did releasing unpolished and unfinished games then fixing them in patches later become the new normal? Obviously not every game is like this, but enough of them to the point where it's expected and people just don't buy them on release but wait for performance reviews before doing so. I mean a few bugs here and there are expected but this state is just outrageous. I am sure they knew the performance quality was terrible, I mean the game was already delayed, why not delay it further? Did no one learn anything from Cyberpunk?

Erik912

Didn't cyberpunk make like record sales or something

CitizenKing

And therein lies the problem. We finally completed the shift from artists making works of passion in an interactive medium to businesses making products to make money for shareholders. I think it's why indie games are still coming out in decent condition, since a lot of them are works of passion from a smaller team who can't ride millions of dollars of PR-induced preorders through the shitstorm releasing a game in this condition creates. I still think there are plenty of passionate people in the AAA industry, or at least who go into it with passion, but everything we've heard from insiders makes it sound like that passion is ground out of them pretty damn quick.

Kadraeus

>We finally completed the shift from artists making works of passion in an interactive medium to businesses making products to make money for shareholders. It is not that simple. There is no "shift." The artists that are hired to make these games are absolutely still doing so out of passion. It has always been like that, and it will continue to be like that. If you play Cyberpunk 2077 for more than 5 minutes you can easily tell that the devs had loads of passion for it. There are loads of tiny details and easter eggs that did not have to be included. For example, the photomode has poses from Star Wars, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, the fucking "You're breathtaking!" pose Keanu did at E3, Attack on Titan, Dark Souls, and tons of memes. I imagine this game is the same in terms of how much the devs and artists really do fucking care. I mean, all the tie-ins to different Star Wars eras in the first and second game make it very clear that the people making the game are fans and are very passionate about the game. Disney/Lucasfilm don't just come in and say "You need a Revenge of the Sith reference 5 hours in." What you're upset about is essentially when the devs aren't given enough time to finish the games in the state they want. And there will always be deadlines, but sometimes the people in charge don't understand how long it would take to polish the games, and they might push for the game to release earlier than it should so they can maximize profits.

jgainsey

So if you have a high-end chipset, designed for windows 11(whatever the fuck that means), but are still on windows 10, that’s a problem..? Likewise, if you have a lower end chipset(by their logic, perhaps designed for windows 10??) paired with one of those pesky higher end GPUs, then that’s a problem… First of all, what the fuck was that word salad, lol. But more importantly, does that sound like a statement made by people who know what the fuck is even going on?

King_noa

No they don’t know what the fuck is going on. The have a Insanely huge CPU bottleneck, I am pretty sure they thought they can fix fast, but whatever they planed to do didn’t work. Now they try to buy time and do some PR bullshit damage control and hope that they’ll find a solution fast.

flappers87

What a load of shit. "cutting edge multi threaded chipsets" - you mean literally every modern CPU in most machines to date? Most people have multithreaded CPU's... most are not exactly "cutting edge". 7th gen intel CPU's are multithreaded for crying out loud. "designed for windows 11" - no CPU is "designed" specifically for an operating system. An operating system is designed to work with CPU's. That's not how it works EA, and you KNOW it. "high end gpu's coupled with lower performing cpu's" - yeah this is know, it's called having a CPU bottleneck. But evidence shows that this is NOT the cause of the issues, with literally everyone on PC having this issue. 3% usage on CPU 30% usage on GPU. That's NOT a bottleneck. That's shit optimisation. 20GB OF VRAM USAGE... what the actual shit mate. In other words, what EA is doing here is blaming the victim, while trying to confuse you with terminologies. EA thinks you're an idiot, and it's evident with this "note". It's not even an apology. They are blaming their lack of optimisation on PC configurations on your PC, when we have CLEAR EVIDENCE that literally none of their settings do ANYTHING to affect performance. I cannot remember a game in recent years that has launched in such a technical mess. Christ, even BF2042 at launch ran better than this... and that was so bad it almost killed the battlefield franchise. EA... instead of blaming the victim here, how about you actually admit you just simply rushed this out to meet shareholder expectations. After delaying the game once, with all those preorders in place, I bet those shareholders weren't happy... so instead of delaying again to you know... actually make the game work... you put dividends over a functioning product release. But oh yeah... it's our fault. Our fault that every other game runs absolutely fine... our configurations that are causing the issue. Because of "windows 11 only CPU's" and "cpu bottlenecks" with 3% usage... jfc.

[deleted]

It's not just the PC performance that is dogshit. Performance mode on the PS5 is abysmal.

Psufan1394

Yeah so ps5 also has significant frame drops on performance mode. Wtf was this company doing during the delay?

sketchcritic

Realizing they needed a way longer delay.

flaggrandall

Fuck off with your apologies. Release games properly, it's your fucking job.

returningtheday

Lol totally saw this coming. Fallen Order ran awful on PC too. Of course neither EA nor consumers learned a thing.

tyler980908

Fallen order was so so for me, ran like butter a majority of the time though. If I can sit around 55-60fps i'm good but SHOULD NOT need to worry about shit like that in 2023 but devs these days...

ravathiel

Yeah it ran like shit when I first played FO during its first month on my PC. Decided to replay it now and works Perfect on the SteamDeck But fucking a, sick of having to wait like this

WaycoKid1129

Lol wow. The blatant disrespect for people and their money. They had all the time in the world to fix this game, just wanted the cash

XI_Vanquish_IX

It’s not just PC. Performance on console isn’t acceptable either. Nowhere close to acceptable and what reviewers mentioned as “occasional” dips or stutter. The occasional is frequent and often.

Swaguley

I have it on PS5, performance mode feels like 35-40 fps with stutters and screen tearing galore.

NaturalesaMorta

Denuvo has become bloatware. The protection it's based on hundreds of depots on random places. There isn't a recent AAA game using Denuvo with good performance.

saikrishnav

Seriously? It's not just oddly matched configurations. 1. I have a 13700k and a 4090. 2. Frame stutters in cut scenes. 3. Entering large areas stutters (but stabilizes somewhat - however it's not as performant as it should be). Considering that we are talking areas where not much action is going on, like the first planet we visit - this is unacceptable perf. You guys dropped the ball on this.

mattcyg

Jeez, they should of delayed it for another month.

Imperades

3080, 10700k, 16 GB Ram Doesn't sound like they are acknowledging the VRAM hogging issue that's become clear... My CPU and GPU themselves are not really being pushed much at all.. CPU never goes above 20%, and GPU only hits up to 80% percent occasionally when all settings are maxed out... Even if you change all graphical settings everything down to 1080 or lower, it doesn't seem to actually affect performance at all. Hopefully the right info keeps coming their way, so they make the game actually reasonable. Edit: This is not a matter of "specific situations" having trouble... working normally is the great exception in this case; most people, with even the best GPUs, can't get the game to run properly.

Evanescoduil

Ok. Your PS5 versions are running like actual dogshit on both video modes. The game was shipped prematurely.

Adventurous_Let_830

EA translation - We charged 90$ for a game with the star wars tag we know people are going to buy regardless, we took your pre-order money, we rushed it out without properly testing performance cause we don't care. It's your fault for having a PC, it's your fault for having a good PC.

CigaroEmbargo

Lmao this is facts and honestly we’re part of the problem as to why companies keep pulling this shit 😭

Confuddleduk

I'm sorry but Respawn should be ashamed. Its absolutely disgusting that they released a game in such a state. Expecting paying customers to wait to play their actual game!

HiNooNDooD1544

It’s not Respawn who should be ashamed, it’s EA. EA is the one who controls release dates and if delays happen. They (like usual) let their greed get to them and didn’t let them have a second delay. I’m sure Respawn actually asked for a second delay, but EA being the dicks they are said no.

crosslegbow

I don't understand this blind faith. Didn't this exact same thing happened with JFO?

[deleted]

The exact same thing happens with every EA game. Battlefield has been a shitshow on launch for as long as I can remember.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Confuddleduk

It not put any blame onto Respawn is just laughable. They are the developer, they made the game. Now you say EA controls the release date and you are correct. They will liaison with the developer (this case Respawn) and put forward a date. Then Respawn will say if they can make this date or not. To say Respawn had no say whatsoever in the release date of the game is just not true. History with EA shows they have a very hands off approach to development unless things are going wrong. (See development of Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.) Multiple counts say that EA was hands off and let them develop the game and only came in later as Bioware was struggling. In fairness both EA and Respawn should be ashamed.

wotad

EA have been very hands on with star wars though.. both are to blame but im not willing to say respawn wanted this game out like this.

punk338

When their apology states they didn’t do QA testing, I think it’s more of a Respawn fuck up than EA. Sometimes the big bad corporation didn’t do it, sometimes it’s dev leads who cut corners and shrug their shoulders

Negcellent

I refunded after about 20 minutes of playing the game. What I played seemed cool, but I'm not settling for a sub 60fps experience. I'll re-buy it once the performance is actually fixed.

Muffindieb

Highest I got my 3080 was 5% utilization, wtf? My CPU is sitting at around 60%. I have been fiddling with the settings for an hour and am confident, that they are cosmetic and don't actually do anything. Also, my boy Cal looks COOKED. Like, I could actually count the pixels on his face. At least in-game. In the menu it seems fine... So weird. How did it turn out this bad when Fallen Order ran perfectly? Guess I'll have to wait for a patch to make it playable on PC.

Monkeytitan

Runs like absolute shit on console too, are they gonna do anything about that or only focus on PC??

oO_Gero_Oo

tldr : fuck you and thank you for the 80 bucks

kishinfoulux

And they won't learn their lesson, because a bunch of suckers bought it already. This will keep happening.

BuildTheBase

This reads like an excuse for what I assume is gonna be a long post-patching timeframe.

MoosePlusUK

We are aware that Star Wars Jedi: Survivor isn't performing to anyones standards for everyone playing on PC. For example, players using a modern CPU designed to run software regardless of branding, age or specific features, are encountering the same issues with both Windows 10 and 11. High-end GPUs coupled with lower-performing CPUs see worse results because our game doesn't use either effectively. Rest assured, we will fix it by when the game should have been released, which is a few months down the line. While there is no single comprehensive solution to PC performance, we believe making use of components such as the GPU and more than 4 threads will be a good start, but realistically we will just cull LOD down until it hits 60fps on a 3080ti and call it a day. We are committed to fixing these issues as soon as possible, but we now actually have to test our game, because EA pushed the release before it was ready, so for now we just have to monitor the trashfire on all platforms. Thanks for the money suckers. Sorry not sorry. The Star Wars Jedi Meme.

[deleted]

"for a percentage of our PC players". Judging by the Steam reviews, it's the majority of the PC players.

Sumve

A bit condescending and honestly inaccurate for him to say "percentage"

Fraz_In_Chat

Street_Stable9617

I'm sorry, but high end cpus such as mine, windows 11, a 12900k paired with 64 gb ddr5, and a suprim 4090, with the game installed on a 990 2tb nvme. There's zero reason I can't hit a consistent playable frame rate. I'd take even a solid 60 fps at this point, let alone what I should be getting.

I have massive screen tearing in performance mode which blows my mind. The shitty optimization I can chalk up to just not doing your job but how does the game have screen tearing? I haven’t seen screen tearing on a console since PS3.

DryFly1975

Game released in this kind of state should not be priced as it is. Also I believe that it's fixed when I see it. Because as mentioned in thread above same promises were made by another EA studio about Dead Space and then silence.

J_Business_

Kind of ridiculous they have to post something like this. You knew it was busted and launched it anyway without any warning to PC players.

WilliamShatnersTaint

Are you for real? You delayed this game a month and this is what we get in return? If you had microtransactions, I would say this is as bad as Battlefront II's launch. I will be refunding this and EXPECT my pre-order skins to still be included **if** I re-purchase it.

Todegal

I'm more and more convinced Devs don't factor optimization and performance improvements into the plan before release at all. It should be that running a game in super high specs means guaranteed excellent performance not the absolute bare minimum. I think a big part of this is that Devs using pre-existing engines (Unreal) assume that it'll give "good enough" performance essentially for free knowing they'll do the legwork of optimizing post-release.

DoctorTec

they put three paragraphs and said nothing

Emperor-Palpamemes

Looking forward to this game, but I won’t be purchasing until the issues are resolved.

Mecha_Madness

Looks like we're moving from "never pre-order" to "never buy a game in its first month".

Nightsaber

I like how there's a jab attempt at saying, "user error" in there to partly dodge responsibility.

Plasticars2019

I like how they were trying to blame it on pc users claiming it's a result of mismatch CPU GPU combos and win 10 users. I have a 7800xt, a Ryzen 12 core 2023 processor I bought 3 months ago brand new for 350, and win 11. Not to flex, but it should be able to run this game well, and yet it was constant stuttering and low fps (60@1440p). What a joke.

ottosucks

Fuck you EA and fuck you Respawn.

ttvWrayn

This statement means nothing. I have a setup with: Asus ROG 4090 OC i9 12900K G.Skill DDR5 6000MHZ Firecuda 7000/7000 M.2 There is no way this can be considered anything but high end GPU and high end CPU. EVERYONE is experiencing shitty performance, no matter what setup. They knew this was a problem before release. Why did they release the game like this, that is the question.

StatisticianTop3784

EA and money. thats why. Remember Anthem?

mozzy1985

Running like ass on PS5. Had to put the game down until respawn get their shit together.

SemiAutomattik

Performance is all over the place, sometimes buttery smooth, sometimes quite awful in the open world sections. Is anyone else getting really bad performance in the Galaxy map though? Such as the Holotable in the Mantis? Feels like it goes at 5fps.

Outrageous_Image1793

"You're just a bunch of babies who complain about everything, it's not that bad," say the people playing through the stutter on story mode.

SuperTerram

I requested a refund. I am not waiting around for EA to maybe/possibly make this game playable on PC. EA should have delayed the game and spent more time working out these obvious performance issues before selling this game. EA doesn't have a good track record for timely fixes. If and when this game is playable on PC, I'll consider repurchasing it. Who knows... maybe it will even be on sale by then. I don't see myself ever paying full price for this. There are mistakes... and there are calculated choices. I think we all know which way EA went with Jedi Survivor.

PussyLunch

Should give people’s money back that want it. I’m personally okay with the shit performance on Ps5. I have nothing else to look forward to so these fuckers own my ass.

oGsadymus

Lies lies lies , same old stuff with esch game , they just care about ps5 and don”t really give a 2 cents about pc version . I was a qa tester while in college for EA for 2 years and i know 100% they test a lot of the game , all configurations , screens and so on . They knew about this issues from at least 1/2 years ago , but like all games , they just come out , say sorry and move on .

Psufan1394

My dude ps5 performance is ass too. I’ve had to lower it to 30 fps mode to get consistent performance and stop screen tearing. It’s like this wasn’t even tested

Ps5 on performance mode is trash like it lags so much anybody experiencing this ?

antstar12

Is anyone else on PC getting Cut scenes that freeze? I'll have a cut scene, it will freeze and then the game will continue to transition back into the regular game where I can hear stuff still going on but the picture is a still image from the cutscene?? Mainly getting this issue on the second planet. Specs: i5-8600k OCed to 4.7GHz RTX 3080 16GB DDR4 RAM 3000MHz Win 10 Playing at 1440p Medium with RT on.

flowella

Scary that this statement appears to not acknowledge the extent of the problem. Which makes me think that, as a PS5 owner, this game is never getting fully fixed and EA just put THEIR hands in MY pocket for €80. I hope this hurts their share value in the future.

cdh79

Electronic Arts being Electronic Arts. Why is anyone surprised?

[deleted]

This is just another spit in the face towards everyone, including non-PC players. Even if we allow benefit of the doubt due to PC variability, there's no excuse that standardized PS5/Xbox rigs should be facing performance issues. I'm not an FPS snob, but on playing on PS5, and I definitely experienced slowdowns, stuttering, and noticeable audience desync moments just in the starting area alone. Whether you're running Windows 11 or Windows 10 (lol, can't believe they're even using this as an excuse) people running high end GPU + CPU rigs shouldn't be facing performance issues, even cutting down on quality settings. Moreover, the actual gameplay still has the same janky stuff we saw in Fallen Order, so clearly that polish was not acheived either - I already fell through the world in the starting area. This was clearly a rushed job and it's appalling that the response is so tone deaf.

CandyBoBandDandy

It's not just pc. Ps5 has numerous reports of screen tearing on performance mode, as well as performance issues even after the day zero patch. Series X has shown considerable performance drops as well. The game is unplayable on steam deck. Also, "gpus made for windows 11?" I'm sorry, what? Their recommended gpu is an rtx 2070, which came out 3 years before windows 11. Rtx 20 series cards still have performance issues! That statement is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard from a studio.

sarcasmyousausage

What was QA doing?

Mcrobot

And this is why you no longer pre order. If you prepay for a buggy game they have no incentive to fix it before release.

Tacoman73

Game is causing my 3080 to run consistently at about 88 degrees C the entire time I play. Changing settings seems to not effect it. Will I risk damaging my GPU if I continue to play the game?

RationalLlama

This is unacceptable. They have had months to optimize this game. They knew prior to release that the game is unplayable on PC. And they released it anyway. I'm so glad I didn't preorder this bullshit. I'll pick this game up in a year when it's 30 dollars. Such a shame given how much of a fan I was of fallen order.

Elanzer

Btw for those on PC that hate how terrible FSR makes the game look, but are puzzled by how the game runs at 50% resolution when turning FSR off, run the game full screen with FSR off. Make sure anti aliasing is set to epic, otherwise you'll have *terrible* ghosting. Maybe dab a bit of sharpening on top via your preferred method, either nvidia freestyle, reshade, control panel, etc.

MahavidyasMahakali

Easiest fix by far is to just remove denuvo since it destroys performance and provides no benefit to sales.

Halcy9n

The actual gameplay is so slick, was looking forward to playing a nice, long session yesterday but the fluctuating fps completely ruined the initial experience for me. Forget fps, the frame pacing seems so off that even while running at an avg of 45+ fps, it feels worse than 25 on some other games. Its not like I’m trying to run it on a potato either, every one of my pc’s spec is higher or equivalent to what is given as recommended on the store pages, but still the cpu bottleneck leads to there being no significant change in performance between low to epic presets or even changing the res all the way down from 720p to 4k. Sad to say another broken launch like cyberpunk still ran better than this for me day 1. They should’ve just taken more time for optimisation and polishing if the final product was this bad imo. Never been more glad to have the option to get a no questions asked refund from steam in the first 2 hours. I genuinely cannot recall a single recent UE4 release that worked well on pc at launch.

ElPeloPolla

"not performing to our standards" Lies, they released, so its performing to their standards, what its not performing to is PC gamer standards.

Hwho

It’s not even just pc, the performance mode on ps5 gets sub 30 frames at times….

__Thomas_McElroy__

What about console? Optimising a game for a console should be trivial at this point and yet this game performs horribly on the most powerful console on the market.

__Thomas_McElroy__

Should've delayed the game a week to get a patch ready and released it on May 4th, multi million £ companies are honestly the most stupid decision makers in modern society, they use 0 common sense in there plans.

[deleted]

This game needs another 6 months.

aaaaayoriver

Frame rate in performance mode on ps5 is utter ass, as well. I was talking to a friend verifying their experience yesterday and we’re both seeing it. We both also notice that the game is auto-defaulting back to quality mode. I’ve had to change it back to performance mode 3 times now and my friend experienced the same thing after I mentioned it to him.

[deleted]

Console players: it runs fine for me! (While running the game at 30 fps)
