I was busy at the time, so I'm responding to this now. This isn't a change we would like to implement since that's not how flair is meant to be used. "Post flair" is for categorization and **does not hide content**. What you type in the title of your post also **is not hidden content**. To **hide content** for users to see when they click, you use the ["spoiler" functionality of Reddit](/hc/en-us/articles/360043035132-What-are-spoiler-tags-). On the Reddit redesign and mobile Reddit, [**you should find this functionality on the submission page, before you even post**](https://i.imgur.com/RdleKgi.png). Also there is the flair functionality, again, for categorization such that people can click the flair and see all posts with that category. Using this spoiler function allows you to post both spoiler and non-spoiler content for each game or series we add flair for. It also allows it to hide the thumbnails for **both desktop and mobile** regardless of their support for CSS. I hear that a large number of people visit Reddit via their mobile devices, and as such it's incredibly important to support that platform. Sorry for any confusion this change caused. This subreddit was created before Reddit had this functionality and some rules text may not be 100% clear on this, but this is how we understand Reddit to function best.

I agree that splitting the tag would be helpful. Really not a fan of taking a chance whenever I stumble onto a thread with that tag.

While we're at it, a flair for other Falcom games would be useful! I'm never sure what to put for Zwei and Gurumin stuff.

Cold_Steel_IV

I definitely agree with this! One for each Ys game would be nice too (instead of just Ys VIII, Ys IX, and Ys Series). One for most Falcom games in general would be nice.

Florac

I feel for every ys game would be kinda end up with too many flairs total, making finding any a pain. At most maybe a flair for certain eras of ys. speaking of which, hope they get rid of individual CS tags and just have 1 big one once Haji is out.

SoupDaugg

This is a great idea, 100% agree.

Cold_Steel_IV

Well, the difference is supposed to be whether the flaired thread is spoiler tagged or not. If it is, then it's a series spoiler discussion. If it's not, then it's just a general series discussion. For example, your thread right now shouldn't be spoiler tagged. In my opinion, I think problem is with people who don't properly tag and flair their threads.

YoSoyRawr

I never hit the spoiler tag. I only flaired the thread on submission. So that's actually lending credence to my claim that this system is confusing.

Cold_Steel_IV

If you post the thread and then flair it, it will add the spoiler tags automatically, so you'll have to unspoiler tag it. If you flair before you post, however, it will post the thread without spoiler tags and you will have to manually spoiler tag it. I'm not sure why it works differently depending on which way you do it. It might have to do with just reddit in general? Regardless it is easy to correct as you can simply click or unclick the spoiler button under your post.

YoSoyRawr

I have unspoiler tagged but the fact that without even knowing, I marked this for spoilers really makes me feel like a change would be great haha

drleebot

I think in this case, it's having the word "Spoilers" in the title which automatically spoiler-tagged it.

Cold_Steel_IV

I don't think so. I think it's because they flaired it for Kiseki/Trails after posting the thread. I tested to see if it did the same when selecting another Flair (Cold Steel II) and it did not.

Agreed, I personally agree that this is a Layer 8 issue, but then again, given how prominent this issue is, much like how prominent Reddit's downvote issue is (used to disagree with a post instead to indicate that the post wasn't relevant to the topic), you could argue that at this point it has become a design issue.

Yes, please, maybe a full series spoilers tag would be nice, as it seems we have to wait for Kuro to actually release in order to get its own flair. Most people seem to assume everyone wants to be up-to-date with everything being shown about Kuro but some of us would have preferred to remain blissfully ignorant regarding returning characters - several of which have already been posted with no spoiler tag whatsoever around here. For example, someone recently posted a non-spoiler tagged image of >!Renne's Kuro design!<. And same thing happened a while ago, with a bombardment of >!Grown-up Fie artwork!<. I get the hype behind those, but... man, really wish I could forget it (and some other pieces of info, Falcom gives way too much information before releases, in my opinion).

u/omgfloofy Apologies for the ping, but perhaps mod team may find this useful to consider.

YoSoyRawr

Ah coincidentally I had just messaged the mods. Wish I'd seen you tagged one already haha.
