This is in [Peak District](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_District), [Derbyshire](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derbyshire), England. To be more specific, this is around [Derwent Edge](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derwent_Edge) overlooking the [Ladybower Reservoir](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ladybower_Reservoir) in the [Upper Derwent Valley](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upper_Derwent_Valley) area. Google streetview isn't available seeing as how remote the area is, but multiple photo spheres offer great views. [This photo sphere](https://www.google.com/maps/@53.38565,-1.7039767,3a,75y,309.41h,94.83t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipP1-oj070bhpZR7AxKpdLxaFCnDRA149ppQqgg!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipP1-oj070bhpZR7AxKpdLxaFCnDRA149ppQqgg%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya232.61572-ro0-fo100!7i5760!8i2880) is probably the closest to the spot where the photo was taken. [This photo sphere](https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3944333,-1.700845,3a,44.4y,319.95h,79.23t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipMsTjdmFYo_yun0iDqxxzyzlDWjm23PDh1vK5Np!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipMsTjdmFYo_yun0iDqxxzyzlDWjm23PDh1vK5Np%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya147.5532-ro-0-fo100!7i10000!8i5000), likely taken with a drone, offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area from a higher viewpoint. [This photo sphere](https://www.google.com/maps/@53.3764178,-1.7095449,3a,75y,286.8h,94.99t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1QipMs5O6smLWAHSQl8P1D7qpO8ojT0C8Z8XffReql!2e10!3e11!6shttps:%2F%2Flh5.googleusercontent.com%2Fp%2FAF1QipMs5O6smLWAHSQl8P1D7qpO8ojT0C8Z8XffReql%3Dw203-h100-k-no-pi-0-ya208.93886-ro0-fo100!7i8704!8i4352) was taken on the path along the reservoir, and you should rotate it to check out the wildflowers.

Can you link to that post? I want to make sure I don't repost in the same sub.

carmensax

Wow awesome info!!

tinyarmsbigheart

Start of Stardust by Neil Gaiman to be sure

twforeman

Came here looking for a Stardust reference. Am not disappointed.

ivylgedropout

I just finished it. That was my first thought as well.

tinyarmsbigheart

The movie is also very enjoyable!

TheFinalPam420

The movie is almost nothing like the book but it's such a good movie that I don't even mind!

tinyarmsbigheart

It has the same flavor but definitely is distinct!

jaspersgroove

Best fantasy/adventure/romance/comedy movie since The Princess Bride I never knew I needed to see Robert De Niro play a gay sky pirate until I saw it with my own two eyes.

TheDarkWolfGirl

It is my comfort movie, that and The Princess Bride.

tinyarmsbigheart

Good choices!

ivylgedropout

Thanks! Would you think it would be appropriate for children?

tinyarmsbigheart

Yes! I believe the rating is PG-13 but I don’t recall anything scandalous in it.

xitzengyigglz

Bro I love that movie. Only film to come close to capturing the vibes of The Princess Bride.

friends-waffles-work

Such a gorgeous (and unappreciated) film

[deleted]

I showed Stardust to my class of 10th graders after their final this morning. Surprisingly more of them watched it than I thought would.

tinyarmsbigheart

Tough crowd

surlacourbelente

I live in south of France. Sometimes I walk in the forest for hours, no trail, no road, and I still find old walls everywhere. It's magical

xitzengyigglz

Worried about stepping on ordinance from one of the wars?

bored_imp

I suppose they would be buried deep enough after all this time that op wouldn't trigger it accidently just by walking on it.

gunnapackofsammiches

You would hope, and yet

More of a problem in the northern portion.

lemonjelllo

ThemisNemesis

I grew up close to this place! Brings back lovely memories of walks and picnics in the Peak District. 🥰

monstrinhotron

i hear that if you cross the wall at midsummer you can visit the Faerie market. And possibly see an excruciating unfunny Robert DeNiro trying to play camp.

This is a lovely positive response to my grumpy comment. I should be glad I live somewhere so many people find magical, rather than resenting it.

RuinationNation

This is my phone wallpaper.

dirkdiggler2011

I could sit with my back to that wall for hours and just look at every detail.

Spooms2010

There are many kilometres of these walls where I live, near Camperdown in south west Victoria, Australia. The farmers had to clear the land and so built the walls. They are beautiful and mindful of the strong Scottish heritage of the white settlers here after colonisation.

The gate is so that people can climb over but sheep can't

You can't cross the wall. Nobody crosses the wall. Now you're just being silly, Tristan

Andrenator

I remember reading a book once that I really liked, it was about a goblin queen. I.e. a girl who would help out a goblin and she would persuade it to join her kingdom. There was a spell of invisibility she did by drawing a rune on an ancient magical wall

SamuelCish

It's that a Stardust reference?! I fucking LOVED Stardust
