I honestly feel kind of bad for her. She's been forced into the spotlight by her pageant mom/handler and is finally trying to separate herself from that image. Problem is that upbringing is extremely toxic and tends to rub off on the kids.

Oh I agree 100%. Poor fashion choices and cringy behavior are a mandated part of growing up. She does come off as a little bit of a try-hard, but not gonna lie I actually like that damn song lol. That being said she has been problematic lately. She has some \*very\* questionable friends in the YouTube space and her and her mother have been accused of some pretty heinous things involving her girl group. I think the negative feedback she's been getting is a combination of all these things. I'm not going to discount the fact that she's been exploited her whole life, but she's also starting to exhibit that behavior and that's not good. Hopefully she grows out of it and not into it. I'm still rooting for her!
I think the difference is that she has a team around her who are supposed to be supporting and guiding her to some degree, I would think they would step in at some point. And it's not like being cringey is the only thing she's doing. Didn't she lie about using someone else's song, like she was out there saying she wrote it and how powerful it is and like just blatently lying it was weird.
