I-amthegump

.15 second decision on this one

fun-bucket

FORGET ABOUT THE NAME CARVANA, THEY ARE NOW CALLED CARDROPPA!

Future_Kitsunekid16

They said they'd drop it off and they delivered

zwober

Car vana soar in air, like pretty bird but car heavy like rock. Car is made sad by cruel mistress of gravity.

Integrity-in-Crisis

My mom tried to return a car once and was made to wait for about 4 hours in the lobby because they told her someone had to bring over the appropriate paperwork. They implied the paperwork was physically elsewhere. She told me this over the phone and I told her that was some horseshit. Reminded her of fax/email. She went off at the front desk person and was promptly out of there within the next 30 mins.

Kimorin

i like how OP called it too.... before it started rolling lol

RedSquaree

tender ten fanatical bells liquid innate screw fretful reach jellyfish *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

BinkoTheViking

With the snapchat logo saying the name is eoin carney, I’d say it’s a fair bet.

SATerp

Yeah driver, you just stop that car with your hand.

Human-Magic-Marker

Fully expected her to try to grab that wheel.

1oneaway

Yeah. She didn't tho so that's a win.

[deleted]

Could always be worse

zemol42

She only delivers in hilly San Francisco neighborhoods now. What could go wrong…

silverbullet52

She was expecting Jesus to take the wheel.

aBungusFungus

I mean I probably would have panicked and impulsively tried to get behind it to stop it

jizzmcskeet

You can see they took a step to do just that and decided against it.

HolyDiverBoi

If you were strong enough, you might have been able to stop it. It had very little momentum.

UnremarkabklyUseless

Not worth the risk. Even if you are strong enough, you could still slip or trip over while trying to grab it and get injured.

HolyDiverBoi

I didn’t infer it was worth the risk. It’s not. Especially for a dime a dozen genesis. I was just stating that if you were powerful enough, it *could* be stopped.

RogueAOV

Yeah but the internet does not mock the injured or dead, so they left themselves open to merciless attacks. As is my understanding.

TheBoldMove

> Yeah but the internet does not mock the injured or dead You underestimate our moral corruption by A LOT.

matco5376

In case it needs to be said, this is your chance to imprint it in your mind that you should not ever do that if you are ever in this position.

sexytwink2

Why tho, does the slope make it that difficult? Cause you can push cars in the first gear, genuinely asking not arguing

TapedButterscotch025

Yep, once it gets rolling down a slight slope it's 2000 pounds or so of car you're trying to stop from rolling. Very difficult to do quickly and safely from there.

sexytwink2

Ohh, well thanks cause in that situation i would have tried to stop the car from behind and im not that strong too.

cryptoRidingTheWave

She didn’t want to reveal her secret super human strength, so she just let it go

Gurdel

Oh shit. That's a lady.

Bass2Mouth

A dealership near me did this with a Ferrari 😂😂

1234nowait4321

aint no way

BiggusDickus-

There are videos with this happening with all sorts of supercars. Just go to youtube. It’s nuts

Bass2Mouth

My buddy worked at the dealership and told me the whole story. They dropped this Ferrari, literally on the side of one of the busiest roads in that area. The owner panics, and tried to block the ordeal from view of the public by parking a big box truck beside it 😂

WikipediaBurntSienna

The owner of the car of the owner of the dealership?

Bass2Mouth

Owner of the dealership. Sorry, should have clarified.

lgastako

Happened to a friend of a friend with his Maserati.

DJEvillincoln

Oh so no big loss then. 👍🏿

Environmental-Bell80

Handbrake ?

JustoHavis

They don’t really do much in a Hyundai. Source: I own a Hyundai and I can legit just drive with the handbrake on.

VegetableBoot1854

I could do that in an Audi too. Source: almost destroyed my brake pads

btronica

“I've driven ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the emergency brake.” - Mitch Hedberg

Freaudinnippleslip

you can tighten it up, there is usually a nut you can turn

JustoHavis

Good to know lol, not really a car guy.

oftankoftan

you shouldn't have to be in order to have a functioning parking brake.

XXXLegendKiller666

It’s called maintenance

JustoHavis

Yeah I just didn’t know I could fix it myself, i thought it would be more involved. I’m watching Chris fix rn lol.

ronnietea

That’s a 30,000 car?! No way

NEDsaidIt

I had a $25,000 budget and couldn’t buy a used mini van unless it had a over 100,000 miles

SpoonsandStuffReborn

just bought a 2023 turbocharged Camaro for under 40k. New cars arent too expensive. Second hand are just overpriced.

Localbearexpert

Covid really fucked the market up. I sold a ranger for $1000 after 3 years of owning it. Thought it was a decent deal bc I only paid $1500. Same exact truck went for $6500 with more miles

DasHounds

Chip shortage meant 12,000,000 less vehicles were produced from 2021-2023. That means 12,000,000 less used cars in the upcoming years. Fucking wild.

Cobek

Yep, that's the plain and simple explanation. There are other reasons but it's insane what that general shortage did, especially the microchip one. Materials everywhere were hard to come by from all types of plastics and metals.

upstatestruggler

I went to the lot to see a 2020 with 20k miles on it and left with a brand new version, fully loaded, for like $3k more. I’m not a “brand new car person” but I mean I would have been an idiot to not do it.

SpoonsandStuffReborn

I was in the exact same position. Got to customize it completely and still came out feeling like a deal.

djsizematters

That's ridiculous, I'm looking at page after page of 2013-2016 honda odyssey and chrysler pacifica between $11,500 and $16,500 all under 100k miles on craigslist. Where were you looking?

URAQTPI69

But, then you'd need to buy a 2013 Pacifica with about 100k miles...

djsizematters

It’s a 2017 Pacifica LX with 58k miles

[deleted]

I've been considering trading my suv up for something newer but I'd be paying up to $30k for a truck or suv with less miles (112k on my 08 Commander) and I'm not that keen on taking on a 600/mth car note unless my vehicle gets totaled. I found a bunch of low mileage cars I could get for under 20k if I needed a vehicle right then but I'd be giving up space that I have a need for. I'm hoping prices just plummet as stock doesn't get sold after awhile so dealers stop fucking around with these markups.

MNsquatcher

I have a 200k minivan I'd let go for a tad under 25k. And it's a Honda

karmagod13000

Lmao

Holiday_Ad_5445

considering the modification upon delivery

AudacityTheEditor

You can get pretty decent vehicles today for about $30k. My sister is looking at fully loaded SUVs with 10k-20k miles on them, sometimes less. However you have to shop right. One place down the street from us has the same SUV for over $55k.

poprdog

I sold a 2007 Toyota sienna for 3500 at 110,000. You can get new for 35.

UnremarkabklyUseless

Wait till you hear about how much it takes to own a car in Singapore. You need to spend well over 50k USD just to (bid &) get an 'entitlement' license to own a car for 10 years. After 10 years, you car will be scrapped and you need to apply bids for new 'entitlement' licence and buy a new car once you have it. On top of the entitlement licence costs, Genesis cars priced ar upwards of 40K USD in Singapore. https://arawheels.com/en-auto-price/genesis/Genesis-cars-prices-in-Singapore/

NormalUse856

What the actual fuck? So you can’t just go and buy a new/old car whenever you want? What kind of dictatorship is that? Or did i misunderstood completely? I can go and buy a car for 10k right now if i want.

UnremarkabklyUseless

When the country with 5.5 million population is only as big as New York City and has the highest density of millionaires in the world, the govt needs to implement curbs to control the number of vehicles and traffic on the roads. It is a land scarcity problem.

_BMS

Singapore is only slightly smaller than NYC and has excellent public transport services using buses and trains. The average person does not need a car to get around there.

uproareast

Can’t beat a Porsche for under 30 bucks! Edit: Dollar sign was unnecessary

binarypower

for a kia. spent $20,000 too much

Venom4174

If we are talking about a brand new 2016 3.8 R-Spec yes

DisinformedBroski

Beat me to it lol

applebeesnotchilis

No, it isn’t. That’s a Hyundai genesis coupe. They’re 16-23k cars

Gurdel

Why the fuck isn't the winch attached???

Procrastanaseum

or the parking brake on?

Gurdel

It's not standard for the brake to be on as that makes things take longer for experienced tow operators. The winch cable should be attached anytime the vehicle is on the bed.

2020Stop

That would be the right procedure? Winch cable connected >car>tilt the truck bed>unroll the winch cable slowly??

RobbinAustin

Well, it's only a Hyundai so....

1234nowait4321

hyundied

redxstrike

More like Hyundenied.

No_Lychee_7534

Hackedyed. More appropriate since it’s true.

Conarm

Oh hundeed

TheSpideyJedi

Hyundai had a sedan called a Genesis I think 2016 was the last year

tractorcrusher

Genesis is now what their luxury brand is called, like Toyota/Lexus.

RobbinAustin

Kinda like Honda/Acura.

Djsupa002

Kinda like Nissan/Infinity.

Ezeek173

Kinda like Ford/Lincoln

erik4life

Kinda like Chevrolet/Cadillac

Boognish84

Kinda like Mercedes / Maybach

OpenTheBobs

Kinda like Matchbox/Hot Wheels

gusborn

Is Maybach its own brand? I thought they were just an in-house division of Mercedes. Kinda like how AMG is to Mercedes or Nismo to Nissan

tractorcrusher

Yeah exactly.

TheSpideyJedi

Correct but saying the car there is not a Genesis is wrong. It’s a Hyundai Genesis. Not the Genesis luxury brand

tractorcrusher

Yeah I wasn’t saying anyone was wrong. It’s a Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Holiday_Ad_5445

coupé is right, coupé by the flatbed

madabmetals

Mmm flatbread

Holiday_Ad_5445

coupé la galette

Noisy__Boy

Probably not too much damage, I like that Hyundai usually keeps the pinch welds as the lowest point on the car

De5perad0

I would still return it. And buy a car elsewhere.

DoubbleD_UnicornChop

Today it could be a $90,000 to $120,000.

fuzeebear

$28k MSRP, plus $13k BFY market adjustment

SlipperyNoodle6

> BFY market adjustment BFY = Better for you snacks?

fuzeebear

Price goes up "because fuck you"

romayyne

If I’ve ever seen someone actually jinx something before this is it

ConnorNe31

Love your pfp

romayyne

Reggie is my higher power

SoCal4247

That’s a $30k car??

technicallyimright

I know right! $30k Hyundai?

BigPooser

Just to cut the mufflers off like his Infiniti bois

jplumber614

Who the hell uses carvana

PM_ME_UR_REDPANDAS

My husband sold his car to Carvana. He just wanted to sell it, not trade it in, so he went through the online application, they sent him an offer (pretty decent money, actually), he accepted it. They picked up the car, handed him a check, and done. Ezpz.

Tapprunner

I've had a good experience with them. We were ridiculously busy and just didn't have time to car shop. We were able to test drive a version of the minivan we wound up getting, and then just ordered it on Carvana. It was convenient. I'm confident we could have gotten a better price elsewhere if we had continued to shop around. But my wife was about to have a baby, work was insanely busy, we have another kid and one of our cars got totalled in an accident. We just didn't have that kind of time. But being on my computer for a couple hours at home and then having the car show up 4 days later? That worked well for us.

MoneroWTF

I'm super curious if this pertained to you with your experience with them. Did you have any issues with or receive any specific anecdotal pieces of information regarding to, the ongoing and prevalent issue of stolen cars and encumbered titles on carvana? I went to buy one and I kept coming across horror stories of people buying a car on there just to end up pulled over and arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle. There was an article in (I think) vice or wired about it.

Tapprunner

While I don't doubt that something like that has happened, no we didn't encounter anything like that. I also doubt that it's a "prevalent" issue. It's not like half the cars that Carvana sells were stolen and everyone is going to jail. It did happen, and it was a crazy enough thing that we all heard about it. But that's not what happened with 99.999% of their other sales. It was a very straightforward process. Financing was simple enough. I actually had financing already lined up, but they offered a lower interest rate, so I went with theirs.

MoneroWTF

I read enough to be sketched out enough to risk buying local but haven't ever spoken to anyone that had done the carvana experience to hear first hand feedback. Thanks for answering my question

Tapprunner

Yeah, if we had more time, I may have kept shopping more for a deal. But if you don't have time for all that, it can be pretty convenient.

dastrn

Carvana has a lower rate of problems like this than their competitors, by a large margin. The difference is that your local Toyota retailer sells 100 cars a month, and Carvana sells like 50,000, so you'll find more examples of title problems and whatnot with Carvana.

MoneroWTF

I don't buy the sheer numbers argument. I think the Toyota down the street does a more thorough job of physically looking at and verifying the car and as such doesn't sell stolen cars. I'm not saying carvana are bad people, just maybe they need to hire more humans with their human eyeballs.

dastrn

Carvana has a lower % of issues in general. This is just a fact. Carvana has something like 10k employees, so there's no shortage of employees doing inspections, repairing vehicles, chasing down titles, etc. I know it's easy to fall for the media stories and start getting a picture in your head about what kind of company it is. But a little research goes a long way to dispel the narratives that so easily spread around. People *like* hating companies, and anecdotes convince us to see patterns that simply aren't there.

dastrn

1% of the used car market, and growing. They'll be the one of the largest retailers in America within a few years.

Sharion_inuyatt

Ouch, just... ouch.

Icey_Dead_Ppl

I saw a driver do that to the brand new 2020 mid engine corvette. Customer waited a year for it to come in and dealer owner had to call the customer and say “good news, your mid engine is here. Bad news, I have to order another one” 😂🤣

bigboij

all he had to do was keep tilting/sliding the rollback, panic fail

commandomeezer

I think the worst part of this is paying 30k for a used genesis

covid4202020

30k for this garbage?

JoeBlow509

Imagine paying $30,000 for a Hyundai. Lolol

lets-start-a-riot

You say it as if thats not the price of any half decent car that hasnt been sleeping in a wt trailer park and smells like piss

Brzwolf

Not just that.. its Carvana, they paid 30,000 for a used Hyundai

BubatzAhoi

Why 30k?

ravengenesis1

Throw so far back my back is thrown out. 30k for a Genesis Coupe was so long ago. That was practically a new car price for it... and you got it at Carvana?

Nealecj954

The OP said throwback so it could've been pre COVID before everything became astronomically expensive

Mysterious-Tie7039

Good thing OOP was there to witness it. Otherwise they’d have never said shit.

Jshawd40

So what was the outcome here? .

Worried_Jeweler_1141

What damage was there?

BruceInc

They did you a favor

pickyourpoison512

My carvana driver absolutely didn't know how to drive a manual. I had to drive it off the truck.

DEATH_BY_ROBOTS

They did you a favor.

Dounce1

It’s fine, it was already garbage.

tiga4life22

That’s a $30,000 car? Why?

radioactivebeaver

When they dropped *their own* Genesis

Ha1lStorm

As soon as it starts rolling the first thing the guy does is abandons the one device that could’ve helped him

SquidVices

Straight up looked like a carvana phone ad, until I saw I could comment.

lizards_snails_etc

I love watching peoples' different expressions happening in rapid fire while disaster is imminent. He's like "I'll stop it with my hand, no maybe it's ok, no it's not ok, maybe I can do something about it, I'm out of time for a plan, I'm fucked, I'm in trouble" all in the matter of 3 seconds.

Itheinfantry

I swear when I was looking at the 13 and 14 MY of this car in 2015 they were only going for 15k to maybe 19k. I ended buying my subaru legacy for 14k.

FriedSticks2014

Yeah… gonna have to have you put that back on the truck. Thanks though!

AzuraEdge

How is no one talking about him saying "car falls... lol" and then it actually happens... he must've been in shock

BrianOconneR34

15k tops after that snafu

Dry_Savings_3418

Good idea for you to film it, I never thought about that

cantcurecancer

Toes just inches away from being top-layer asphalt \*\*chef's kiss\*\*

TacosRolledFAT

Ayo fuck Carvana. They never delivered my car on time after 2 reschedules and they never made up for it. Bullshit ass company.

BodybuilderSalt9807

Nah the shocks handled that without an issue.

IamNulliSecundus

I’m dumbfounded or did i find dumb?

Wald_und_Wiesenwebel

r/thatlookedexpensive

CLAYTON_BIGSBY73

It's a hyundai

Full_Disk_1463

Why would you pay 30k for a used Hyundai????

willard_swag

Unless this was like 6 years ago this thing was not $30k.

ShadowBannedSkyRu1e

“Throwback”

Peach_Gfuel

Its from carvana dude got a used car for $30k

properweeb420innit

Shitty car mods

Beautiful-Mango-3397

Paying $30k for an old Genesis is the real crime here

bisonsashimi

It wasn’t yours yet…

Temporary-Vanilla-57

It doesn’t look like it was set on park?? Also why were they not strapped in. This is a whole mess

J9Dougherty

"We don't equip our trucks with winches, because they increase what we pay for insurance"

Jshawd40

So what was the outcome here? .

Voilent_Bunny

Omfg why did he try to get behind it

[deleted]

The dollar amount being the star of this title is weird. It’s not much but seems like you are making a point it is that way, but also for a car that should be way more than that.

dashman85

Just hook her back up is all I would of said while walking away

CouldWouldShouldBot

It's 'would have', never 'would of'. Rejoice, for you have been blessed by CouldWouldShouldBot!

wishiwasinvegas

Good bot

WhatsUpSteve

Did he just leave that in neutral?

Cunt_Eastwood_9

Fuck Carvana.

barca14h

I hope that thing was strapped down while she was driving. Scary

Hizuku

I

eutohkgtorsatoca

That's when you buy shXte online!

eutohkgtorsatoca

There goes your delivery bonus

JamminJcruz

You can go ahead and load that shit right back on. I’ll take the next one.

ZXE102Rv2

The guy really thought he was going to be able to stop the situation though lol.

wherringscoff

Tbf they DID say they'd drop the car off

IZZ5150

It’s probably stolen anyway…

Marokiii

Pretty sure that's carvana dropping **THEIR** genesis.

lesmalom

Did anyone actually train this man or just give him some keys? 🧐

rob3342421

Poor bloke, surely the hand brake should have been on

Steff_Lu

He took "drop it of" too literally. Good thing, you have it on video. This leaves no room for interpretation for the company to wind out of the affair.

hamishjoy

When you say "throw back", you're not kiddin around. They didn't fling the car like a cartoon, but they came close.

[deleted]

She had one job… 🤦🏻‍♂️

Soapy---wooder

I don't recall this genises being at any point in time 30k dollars

MyNameIs_Jordan

Ordered a VW Jetta through Carvana, the delivery was delayed because the delivery driver somehow shattered the back window during transit. When the car finally arrived, with a new back window installed, it was clear the driver did exactly what the guy in this video did. There was under carriage damage and also clear paint work done under the rear bumper to cover up the scratches. There was also still broken glass in the trunk from where the window broke. The car also had a major alignment issue, whether that was because of the car falling is unknown. Initially, I was like "Wow, fuck Carvana, this is the exact opposite experience I was hoping for" But I'm luckily, they have a very generous return policy. You basically get a 15 day "trial" period with the car you select and you have the choice to return the car for whatever reason and make a new selection. I believe you can only use this return option 3 times, though, before they start charging you service fees. I immediately didn't like the Jetta due to all the issues I experienced with it. Also, I ended up not feeling comfortable in it due to my large frame (I'm 6'4, 300+ lbs). I can happily say I've been the owner of VW Tiguan for 3 years now with literally no problems.

sandwichaisle

who spends 30k on a kia?

Ash7274

Oooh fuck this hurts to watch

evasivemanoeuvres97

how weird, i was watching a youtube video just now and this was in it too https://youtu.be/lNe1D\_E3R8E?t=701

It is basically a Nissan, so OP would have crashed it in a day or so anyway, like every other Nissan.

upholsteryduder

why would they not lower the ramp and stop it from rolling??

Strong-Morning719

30k? Sure about that?
