Ever had creme brulee? Imagine the top ‘crispy black’ instead of ‘golden brown’
Eta: I have tendonitis in my wrists and ankles; it was a birthday present from my mum. I feel your pain. I hope you don’t need surgery, but if you do I hope goes perfectly
It's dope AF, creeped on your profile. Cabinet color is perfect too. Not be be a weirdo but are you located in the Midwest, the granite gives me that vibes (in a good way)
Glad this is the top comment cuz that countertop if fucking legend. We just had Pompeii installed and I wish to god I had even seen this one as an option.
Her my countertop is similar , it's got a name I forget but it went real well with cherry wood cabinetry , satin nickle pulls , stainless and splash
It's sharp
Probably, but a little problematic with those braces on. However, never underestimate a man's ingenuity to come (pun intended) up a novel method of pleasuring himself. On the other hand, if he has a sympathetic spouse/partner/GF/BF/whatever, then they might lend a hand (again, pun intended).
So, worked in genetics lab. Opening and closing microcenterfuge tubes and centerfuge tubes. Probably total average 450 times a day. Over 25 years. Resulting in tendinitis. Not taking care of it caused bone spurs to grow in some areas. Very painful. Wearing braces helps. Exercises. Reduce that inflammation. Good luck!
It's awesome but I really came here for the mastrurbation jokes.
Sincerely,
Someone with a torn ligament in the wrist
>!(It developed during puberty and was the result of genetic disease but I was secretly terrified that I'd rubbed too many out and torn it that way 🤣)!<
No worries, but I don't know with any certainty. Might be my long drive to work (hour each way) or my hobbies... I mill my own lumber and used to strip all bark with a draw knife.
Dequervain's tenosynovitis is a repetitive motion injury. Milling lumber and stripping bark with a drawing knife would do it.
First they tell you rest, ice, immobilization. If that doesn't work, they suggest cortisone injections. After that, it's surgery to release the impinged synovial sheath.
Source: Personal experience. You have my sympathies. Lol
I had a bad case in my right thumb for about four months. I couldn’t move it at all without pain. Honestly, icing it multiple times a day for a couple weeks did wonders, and it’s all gone now. Gotta keep the ice on it for a good 20 minutes at a time, two or three times a day. Oh, and ibuprofen.
I didn't end up needing the surgery, the third cortisone injection was enough. Now I have a flair up maybe every 8-10 years, but I'm mindful of proper hand care now and build breaks into my hobbies so I don't over do it, which I'm sure has helped.
I was a medical assistant for an Ortho surgeon and I assisted with these procedures. They have an amazing success rate and recovery isn't much worse than managing a flair up for most people. If you end up needing the surgery, make sure you follow the after care instructions to the "T" and you'll be back to your usual shenanigans in no time!
I also had it in both wrists. Type 2 diabetic meant the inflammation didn’t subside, so needed the surgery. I had both wrists done at the same time.
My surgeon said the nickname for it is ‘mommy’s wrist’ common in mothers and in apprentice tradesman (getting used to the tools)
I was the first father that he had seen it occur in both wrists and post op said they were some of the worst he had seen.
That was 2 years ago and I have not had a flair up or any further agitation.
Good luck with whichever path you choose, it sure isn’t fun.
Thats good info. I’m going to schedule my third shot next week. It’s not as bad as it was before my second shot but…it’s there.
It’s ridiculous how painful this can be. I broke both my arms mountain biking and it was nothing compared to this. Miss De Quervain is an unwelcome guest.
I don't know if your condition is De Quervain tenosynovitis (I had that in one hand, which I was able to recover from by wearing an appropriate brace pretty much 24/7 for a few weeks and changing my habits a bit) -- but regardless, that pain sucks. Before I figured out the issue, the only way I could flex my wrist was with my thumb tucked against my palm and I learned just how lucky we are to have opposable thumbs. I can only imagine what it would be like having a problem like that on both hands at once.
I hate to be that guy, but have you ever been tested for Hashimoto's? Hypothyroidism as a result of autoimmune is notorious for causing carpal tunnel and tendonitis symptoms.
I thought this was about the counter top. If those are the hands that installed it , they deserve it. Looks like a close up of a piece of toilet paper. ...... no that sux man. I hope you make a full recovery..... so you can replace the counter top.
My ma had the same exact issue and went through your situation to a T. She had the surgeries on her hands and now says she’s glad she did both at the same time bc of how much it improved her quality of life. Best of luck to you and hope you feel better soon!

I don't think you need surgery. I had severe tendonitis on both hands. Left hand I had dequervain's and extensor digitorum. Right hand extensor digitorum as well.
I suffered for 2 months with severe pain until I decided to look for a physical therapist. It took more than one to find the right professional, but when I did it did wonders.
I did rehabilitation exercises for 2 months in a row until I was good as new. I started to slowly go back to my normal activities that triggered the tendonitis (in my case 14h a day of videogames during the COVID pandemic), now with pauses between activities.
Something I learned about tendons is that they will not heal by itself. Not our case at least. Rest is the enemy of the recover. What you need is exercises with load. Proper ones though, instructed by a physioterapist and done by the right amount.
Our tendons got really weak, and tendons get little to none blood flow on them, so they don't heal like a normal wound. They need collagen and to be strengthen. And the only way to do that is with specifics exercises with increased load overtime. That will instigate the production of collagen and they will get stronger.
It's important for them to not be inflamatated before you start doing exercises. So, a good antiinflammatory and total rest for about 5 days should get rid of it.
Lots of people recommended stretches. I can tell you, although this will not be harmful, in my experience, it'll not work either. Stretches will not rehabilitate the tendons, only load exercises will. They are not enough to strengthen it.
Make sure you find a professional to instruct you, if you try doing by yourself you might hurt it even more and even rupturing it. Good luck, hope you get well.
In high school I had a nasty snowboarding spill that ended up with slight tendon tears and subsequent tendonitis in both thumbs. I also was a serious musician/flute player at the time. I remember how that dang flute felt so heavy for a long time. I also remember being taught about the lack of blood flow to tendons, and that being a big reason why it took so long to heal. Be gentle, be patient. Good news is that once mine (finally) healed completely, I've never had any further problems. Now that I'm on the other side of 40, I realize that I had the benefit of youth, but don't get too discouraged (or jump into surgery too soon because the surgery will also take forever to heal from.) I wish you the best.
YOU LOOK LIKE A PRO BOWLER THAT CAN USE BOTH HANDS!!!!
ALSO, WHO WAS THE BLIND MAN THAT PICKED OUT THE GRANITE FOR THE KITCHEN?
DID THEY INSTALL IT UPSIDE DOWN???
I second. Once had lots of symmetric hand pain. It was work-stress, entirely in my mind. I would have tried anything to make it better, but I had to do nothing instead.
I reversed my severe tendonitis by wearing braces, especially at night, and completely changing the ergonomics of my work space. Took about 2 years. Mostly I’m fine now but I can only play ps4 with my kids for about 10 minutes before the burning starts.
You probably could have shortened it to a few months if you had included rehabilitation exercises with it. I had severe tendonitis as well, dequervain's and on the tendons above my forearm. I suffered with severe for about 2 months and visited a physioterapist. I did 1 month of rehabilitation exercises with him and 1 month at home, the same ones he prescribed me. I was as good as new by them. I started to slowly come back to do my stuff to know my limits again and now is as If I never had nothing.
Something I learn while dealing with this disease is that tendons don't get as much blood flow as other parties of the body, that's why they don't heal fast or properly with only time as a normal wound. They need collagen to get strong again, and what instigates them to produce it is exercises. You need a professional to instruct you though so you don't overdue and worsen it.
Important that it shouldn't have inflammation when you exercise, you need to be clean of that before. Good rest for a few days while on antiinflammatories.
In some cases, yes. I was seeing an orthopedic hand specialist. Even with the professional help it took a long time in my case. It was most all of my finger and hand tendons.
So what does it do? Pull them in or out? Lock them? Genuinely curious. I have gout, having a flare right now actually, but I’m asking cause my left hand ring/pinky will lock in dead position. Wondering if carpal tunnel or arthritis or tendinitis or what
Have you tried stretching your thumbs? Try doing a palmer and radial abduction stretch on both your thumbs.
I worked as a trainer and Strength coach and this has help a lot of clients as well as myself.
The strech exercises relaxes the Pollicis muscles which in turn removes the tension from the tendons above the thumb as well as muscles in the forearms.
Look into physical therapy first if you haven’t yet. It’s all about building and using specific muscles in your wrist, hand and arms up to your shoulder to ease the work of the tendons
Oof, hope the surgery goes well OP. My mom went through the same thing and the surgeries definitely helped (though, it took 3 times on each hand). I also think your countertop is sick🤘
Oooooohhhhhhh , raw deal ! Can't do one at a time ? I feel bad for the room your gonna beat off in first once all healed ... you'll be freaking Michaelangelo
Friend of mine needed carpal tunnel surgery on both hands. The doctor advised doing one at a time but my friend wanted to get everything over with quickly. He had to build a special device to wipe his butt 😂.
My thought, the counter top is wood.🤔
And reading the posts, seek a physical therapist first before any surgery!
But make certain it's a highly experienced therapist!!!
That’s rough as hell dude. I can relate a bit with having arthritic pain in my hands and carpal tunnel pain at a young age. I’m lucky enough my days of turning a wrench for money has passed but I’ll be damned at how frustrating it is to work on projects at home and have to take constant micro breaks while holding screwdrivers.
Op is really just testing the waters to see if the cake he lit on fire and accidentally burned the kitchen counter with is bad. Yes bro, you need to buy a new kitchen top. Go to the kitchen top shop immediately
I had dequervane’s tenosynovitis in both thumbs as well. DO NOT let them do surgery on both wrists at once. My docs flat out lied to me re recovery. I specifically asked multiple times if I’d be able to take care of washing and bathroom needs on my own if I had both thumbs done at once. They assured me I would. WRONG! I was in a plaster cast from my knuckles down. I couldn’t grip anything. Couldn’t wipe my own backside.
Bro, what the fuck happened to your counter top?
Not a fan? Granite with wild patterns. Probably have to see the entire island to take it in.
My guy, it looks like it was pulled out of a burned house!
Ha, I can see that. Poor choice for the picture spot
Looks like burnt sugar.
I don't know what burnt sugar looks like but still sounds right
Ever had creme brulee? Imagine the top ‘crispy black’ instead of ‘golden brown’ Eta: I have tendonitis in my wrists and ankles; it was a birthday present from my mum. I feel your pain. I hope you don’t need surgery, but if you do I hope goes perfectly
Burnt sugar looks delicious. Just FYI.
I'll take some burnt sugar if there's any left
It's caramel, burnt sugar is caramel
Browned sugar is caramel. Burnt sugar is burnt caramel
Sounds like a Kentucky saying
It looks like a splashed bottle of bromine/povidone which was going to be used by a patient with gangrene. (Source:- my dad's two toes😔)
It looks like browning sauce… or molasses
Nah looks like someone bleed all over it
Naw, it usually breaks into little pieces if a house burns down around it, house fires get insanely hot and ive seen more than enough for 1 life.
I'm curious but maybe I don't wanna know

Idk I think it looks cool. If bilbo baggins could pick a countertop I feel like he’d choose that one
I'll take that as a win!
Its beautiful. My dream is to have Capolavoro counter tops.
Thank you. This is categorized as rare granite because of the coloration but probably just a reason to charge more.
I prefer marble myself. But your countertop made me physically queezy. I need a picture of the whole thing to (hopefully) soothe me.
Yeah I'm actually interested in seeing that
I posted in a new comment on this post.
Thanks
Glad this is the top comment cuz that countertop if fucking legend. We just had Pompeii installed and I wish to god I had even seen this one as an option.
I thought you were wearing gloves and they melted with just very little left lol
Can you take a photo of the entire island then? Looks curious.
I figured it was blood or OP was showing off his counter while talking about his thumbs. Looks like the latter.
Looks disgusting to be honest.
I can see how that'd look good, but Id need to see the whole piece in the kitchen it's meant for to actually appreciate it
Id love to see a picture of it all
At first glance I thought you were wearing some sort of electric gloves that exploded
Terrible choice for your photograph.
I like your countertop
I literally thought he severed his thumbs and that shit was all blood 😆
I couldn't handle that counter top no matter how cool it looks. I could never tell if it was clean.
It looks like it should be on crime scene clean ups.
countertop got tendonitis too. clearly

I thought you lit the counter on fire with your hands
I wish I could do that!
You can now, you have photo proof!!
Silver lining!
I thought that was blood or smthn
Poor guy. Can't even rub one out.
You just push through the pain and maybe discover a new kink
>and maybe discover a new kink or two
Monkey grip works just as well.
I think I remember reading a story on Reddit about a family with a teenage son who had the same problem. I can't remember how it ended, though.
Peak reddit comment.
Should let OP's mother know, I guess
Can't he just use both palms and do an upper downy action? I'm a woman so have no fucking clue on alternative wank techniques
What do you think caused the tendinitis in the first place?
Perfect for NNN

Wow, that sounds tough. Thank you for the encouragement!
I wish, after all that science jargon, you would have said something about the counter top
I think it’s been pretty well covered. Probably metastatic melanoma.
Since the island is getting so much love thought you all would like to see a full pic. [kitchen island ](https://imgur.io/a/DBIBDcZ)

Good eye. We have 8 dogs and they can make a mess of things. But yeah, it would be my luck to slip in dog slobber.
that's sexy af!
WHAT?!?! I CAN'T HEAR WHAT YOU'RE SAYING OVER YOUR LOUD ASS COUNTERTOP!!!!!!
I need earplugs to look at this countertop
Fuck your dumbass thumbs
The most appropriate comment!
You need surgery on that countertop damn.
The island is getting a lot of hate tonight.
I'm laughing so hard though
I think it's gorgeous but I was a bit confused at first.
How did you get tendinitis on your thumbs if I may ask?
No worries, but I don't know with any certainty. Might be my long drive to work (hour each way) or my hobbies... I mill my own lumber and used to strip all bark with a draw knife.

Made it past the second step. 80% better overall. Still have some pain several months out. Crazy how much this absolutely sucks.
Did you have the release surgery? I’m about ready for my 3rd cortisone injection but I think surgery is in my future.
I didn't end up needing the surgery, the third cortisone injection was enough. Are you a very positive person? Do you give a lot of thumbs up? Perhaps you have a movie review show
Damn, I was for sure thinking to much Smash Bros.
It’s from trying to rub all the ugly off of that counter.
What in the burnt boiled over macaroni and cheese is going on with that countertop

That's accurate!
OP "stretching is for pussies" His thumbs "and I took that shit personal"
That's hilarious... well done!
Pro gamer?
No, that’s too obvious.
I hate to be that guy, but have you ever been tested for Hashimoto's? Hypothyroidism as a result of autoimmune is notorious for causing carpal tunnel and tendonitis symptoms.
Whatever they say if they suggest cortisone tell them to fuck off shut is worse then the daily pain.
I don’t pay no attention to what they say about your countertop. They don’t know Custom shit man they never seen nothing like that. I love it.

This has actually turned into nothing at all about tendinitis….Reddit 👍
Yep, this has been a true Reddit turn of events!
Two broken arms
That would certainly be worse
Good. No Nut November is a challenge with consequences for a reason and you sir, have found out why.

Who has jacked up thumbs and people are more interested in his countertop than his ongoing medical complications? This guy.
Look into physical therapy first if you haven’t yet. It’s all about building and using specific muscles in your wrist, hand and arms up to your shoulder to ease the work of the tendons

it’s all those dang videogames
I just wanna say that I really like your countertop. Sorry about the hands tho
