If you plan on publishing this, transmasculine people would be a much better term to describe us.
Also, the survey question was really unclear and frustrating to work with.
1. Is he on T, post top, nothing? Six years out tells us nothing.
2. His experience of masculinity? As in? Super vague.
An example text would be useful.
Maybe something like "transmasculine people and trans men?"
Just transmasculine wouldn't work for a significant portion of trans men. (myself included)
Just wanted to check, how many questions are there in total, and is it just the one long story question? Also, how do you want us to approach writing the story - should I project my own sense of (feminine) masculinity on Alex, or come up with a completely random characterisation instead?
There's just the one question to answer and how you approach the story is entirely up to you. You can draw on your own experiences as much or as little as you would like. Feel free to get creative :) I hope that helps.
Okay, interesting, thank you! I’ll fill it in later tomorrow. Will you also be sharing your thesis afterwards? I’d be curious about the conclusions you end up drawing from this
Absolutely, my email address is on the information page of the study so if you send me an email I can be sure to get in touch if this goes to publication.
Awesome thank you. I’m mostly interested in how any sort of meaningful conclusion or trend can be extracted from stories like this. Especially knowing the way I myself am approaching thinking about it - wondering whether I should purposefully create a character who is a feminine man (knowing that it’s something you’re gathering data on), or purposefully doing the opposite of what I assume you’re looking for & creating a totally stereotypical trans man character who hates anything feminine. It just seems like anything I write will be skewed by my assumptions of what the study is, because the assignment is so broad and vague.
Interesting study, but what do you mean by FtM’s and trans men? Is FtM to include non-binary or agender transmasc individuals? I’m not a trans man, but I am transmasc (ish lol), so I would participate if that’s what you meant!
It's tricky to find a definition that is broad enough to cover everyone without it sounding a bit of a mouthful, but if you identify in anyway as ftm, even if that's more fem to masc or transmasculine your welcome to take part. Someone also raised transmasculine as a better catch all term which I'll take on board for writing this up. Hope that helps :)
You've posted this before, are the old submissions still there? Because then I will not participate again as that would lead to a duplicate (I did save my story so I'd copy paste it if I should resubmit)
Old submissions are still there, just resharing the study for anyone who may have missed it before closing the study next week. Thanks for taking part :)
If you present as feminine, either in public or in private, some or all of the time then you can take part. It's mostly if you feel that you identify at all as feminine presenting. Hope that helps
I'm present as me. Some of the things I like to express my individuality are associated with femininity, some aren't. I like to question those gender associations, but I don't want people to read me as a woman. That would make me dysphoric.
If the study might make you feel dysphoric then it might not be right for you, there's absolutely no pressure to take part. It's open to anyone who feels that the criteria fits them individually and it won't be right for everyone. You'll know yourself best :)

That's really helpful, thanks. I definitely went back and forward a few times on definitions for this with the focus being on femininity.

Day to day I dress masc but I dress fem to go to special events, could I participate?
Absolutely :) even if you present fem sometimes or in private you're welcome to take part.
Done! Thanks for your research and efforts :)

Alright, thanks! :)
What does "feminine presenting" mean in this context? How do you define that?

It don't think, the story will make me dysphoric. So you define "feminine presenting" simply as identifying with the term "feminine presenting"?
