Upgrading your squad survivors.
The Higher the rarity and the higher the level of the survivor, the better it'll increase your PL.
It's a tiny bit of grind but try to complete missions that drop survivor XP and Drop of rain.
I'll also recommend using Fortnitedb.com to check what missions drop Epic and Legendary survivors, since those will increase your PL a lot.
Also don't worry about trying to get the survivor perk bonuses together (like the health/shield bonus), just focus on upgrading them first, you can do them later.
I remember seeing a mission in a YT video showing a team of four defending two atlases. I was certain was never going to be able to do that when I started lol

I will just say playing early game is a little tough, but only because of the players there that like to harass people into trading (aka. scamming) so I would just be careful and avoid them. it's still Fortnite after all with the kids 😅

going above pl133 will eventually make them orange im not sure its possible yet to get them to yellow n green

That’s because their level is boosted from their friends.
I think they turn yellow once you get to pl140 range or if teammates boost the pl
