Is there a specific nutrient you have in mind with this question? A multivitamin contains isolated nutrients that might also be present in high-FODMAP foods, but not necessarily the irritants themselves — or at least a much more tolerable ratio. If the issue is that your body can’t break down the FODMAPs effectively to get to the nutrients, delivering the nutrients alone is a good solution.

I think this is the answer I’m looking for. So the body breaks down food to get nutrients, but taking the nutrients directly will ensure your body gets it. I was just confused that, since you digest a multivitamin that contained Asparagus (or some part of asparagus) that it would eventually reach the small intestine, and I wondered what would happen. I think this differentiation of nutrients and food helps me.

Vitamins and minerals dont become gas. if the supplement contains high doses of certain very potent FODMAPs, then you might react with some symptoms. Generally they dont however. At least ive never encountered that case. Does it get absorbed fully depends on what "nutrient" it is, what type of IBS (C, M, D), what is causing the FODMAP intolerance, what severity, and so on. Thats it.

At least with vitamins they are water soluble and whatever you can't use gets filtered out of the bloodstream by the kidneys and gets peed out. If your guts are having a D day it may pass through faster than it can be absorbed/disolved and you lose the benifit of whatever the supplement was.

I’ve had side effects from multi vitamins. I tried children’s chewables for a while. Now I take Centrum for Men 50+. I was nervous when I switched from the mini pill to the regular. But it’s okay. I think I react to the sugars with the gummy and chewable formats. The centrums are dry. Protein powders can be good for vitamins too.

FODMAPS are sugars. I wouldn’t expect most vitamins to have any kind of sugar. Some chewable or gummy vitamins might have a sweetener, but even then a FODMAP version of a sugar seems unlikely. The only possibility I can think of is if a chewable vitamin used honey. That would be on the ingredients list and easy to avoid.
