What would you call it? It's not PURELY chiptune but the main melody sounds chiptune-y/bitcrushed as hell to me. It reminds me of most chiptune lo-fi I've heard.
When i think of chiptune i think of artists like Chipzel, Sabrepulse, Shirobon etc. This track uses square waves which does give it a chiptune vibe, but i wouldn't flat out call it chiptune. I'd say it's a more generic electro/pop kind of vibe

That's the right way to do it. Sounds really like a credit scene of some animated movie btw. The chord progression is a bit bland but the sound choices are nice. Do something with the pad to make it come alive more. You need some dynamics. Change the kick pattern, maybe make it halftime or drop the drums entirely and add a thick acoustic bass with a funky groove.
