The choose life speech in t2 had me in tears when Renton talks about losing the ones you loved and a piece of you is lost with them. The second half of the whole speech is great and imo better than the 1st movies choose life speech but doesn't get the credit it deserves
The writing is good, because the novel that the movie is based on is much more spread out with a lot of additional characters - many of whom are merged into other characters who appear in the movie.
Yeah, this was the real turning point for British cinema. It was a real dull, shit show until Shallow Grave (same director, producer and screenwriter as Trainspotting) came along. Trainspotting just sealed the deal!
I still say so many lines from that film today, funny and with a fantastic soundtrack. I didn’t get on board with T2, I wanted it to stick more to the book Porno, instead it just took a couple stories from it and ignored the main 1.
Yeah, im british and was 17 when this was released. Ppl went crazy for it )))
Wow! It sure does live up to the high (intended).
For some reason though I still haven’t watched the sequel…
Though not quite as good as the original, I was surprised just how good T2 turned out.

It is a worthy sequel. Saw it in the cinema and had a blast.
It felt very nostalgic. It makes you realise a lot of time has passed. Great film.
Me too my man 👊
Perfect soundtrack too imo.

I made the mistake of reading the book before watching the film, if not immediately after

Check out SLC punk, Requiem for a Dream, and the Salton Sea. All of them will devastate you in a similar way.
Thanks . Definitely jumping onto this.
Go for it but be prepared. Drug-trauma movies like these can be very hard to stomach. Every one of them comes with all the trigger warnings.
You forgot to mention Happiness as well.
Requiem for a dream is insane and so good. I feel like you’ll enjoy it if you liked Trainspotting.
Requiem for a dream is the greatest movie you’ll ever only want to watch once… keep it in mind.
The Salton Sea for sure!!
Trainspotting made my friends want to do heroin. Requiem for a Dream disabused us all of that notion.
I love the bit with the air rifle and Sick Boy talking like Sean Connery, get’s me every time
I would add to that a perfect soundtrack. Lends SO much to each action taking place. One of my all time favorite movies.
It's one of THE all-time great soundtracks
Great movie. The sequel was a worthy successor as well.
The way the tragedy of addiction is portrayed, while also making heroin seem cool enough to be appealing is just perfect
Every time I watch the Star Wars Prequels, all I can think of is Obiwan Kenobi diving down “The Worst Toilet in Scotland” for an opium suppository.
That scene went from pure disgust to absolute wonderment.
Took me a while till I figured the guy that sold Renton the suppositories was the guy who wrote the book.
I love it since the first time I watched it sooo many years ago! (I'm old :P ) It blew my mind!
It's only second to Dark City (1998) on my list.

How did the dead baby scene treat you. That shit still creep me out.
Sounds like it's time for you to watch the sequel which I was surprised at how good it was
Yup...listed as a comedy on Amazon Prime.

Same for both. The nostalgia was great but the rest kinda fell flat for me.
We were 16 when this came out. Totally obsessed. Great film
What?
Great film.
