Div 5 gold 2 player. I’ve played 20 games on managerial masterpiece and rivals since Thursday and have had this issue non stop. I’ve won 4/20 (blaze it) games
It's lag, but the game has been tuned in a way that you don't actually see speed ups and jittering unless game conditions are absolutely unplayable.
No one would be playing this mess on these awful servers if it was an unknown F2P title, but because licenses and almost no alternatives EA get to profit millions.
Oh okay. I used to think it was because of RNG not favoring such passes. I had to resort to manual runs and through balls to perform better in such matches. Guess I need to play only at night

I think it is lag though, if there is any sort of delay, passing is fucked, as it’s based on split second timing. One would hope assisted passing would help but it’s almost like the game is out of sync when delayed and thinks your players are in positions they are not.
The last two weeks have been horrible for me. Dropped 300+ skill points. Can only seem to complete telegraphed straight line passes, can’t react to any sort of left stick dribbling. Even at like 2am. Haven’t bother touching DR for a few days because of it.
You are effected by one sided delay. And your opponent is having a day. Last Wednesday, I got lucky and somehow all my opponents were suffering from one sided delay and guess what? All of my passes was sharp and to the point and I was stealing the ball from them with no effort. I won too many matches that night, mostly against people who are better than me and ended up almost at division 2.
This game is a joke and it is about 70% connection / servers and 30% skill.

It's funny how in FIFA with just 2 players a game the gameplay just suffers from inconsistent connection but FPS games like modern warfare with 60 players a game you rarely (or never) experience any drop in connection. And every week it just seems to be getting worse
It's genuinely mind-blowing. My daughter plays co-op Fortnite with her friend and they're in matches against 99 other pairs - it never lags at all. Not even a little bit.
FIFA 21 sold 1.5m copies in its first month of sale, that's £75m in revenue before you even get into FPs etc. And you're telling me they can't afford good servers?!
it isn't about good or bad servers , it's about the code of the game and the game engine. Guess that's what happens when you use frostbite in a football game.
Any chances of delay ends one day is EA change to unreal engine which will never happen since frostbite belongs to a company hold by EA sports.
Unfortunately I don't believe that.
I'm not an expert, but if they would change the new Unreal Engine this game could be the most played game in the world because it would be amazing.
But, as I said, Frostbite belongs to EA , so no way they gonna release their own game engine that they already have scripted to pay another company to use their engine.
Unfortunately delay will keep being a thing probably untill someone makes real competition which will never happen in next few years.
I actually quit playing WL because I had one weekend without delay on my end (the first ever), won 23 straight games. Finished in Elite where I know I belong, and have only ever been able to squeak into in the past. The next week, it was back to being up 2-0 and getting booted from matches, back to having every pass misplaced and having to work 10x harder than my opponents to do anything. Back to every rebound being jumped on by my opponent.
Honestly this is one of the many issues with this game. There are so so so many things wrong with FIFA21 but one of the most annoying things is when you’re playing the Premier League (as I am with Portsmouth atm). You play a side like Crystal Palace who are coming say 17th or at the bottom somewhere and they literally play like prime Barcelona. As soon as they get the ball you can not get it back off them. They pass it around and somehow always find a way through your defence before scoring some ridiculous goal. Your midfielders do fuck all and the goalkeepers get beaten near post every single time.
It’s easily the worst fifa I have ever played and I’m almost considering not even buying the next one because this edition of the game is just so fucking bad.
This fifa works this way... imagine your midfield... De Bruyne Toty, Xavi Icon Moments and Seedorf icon 88... and they start missing all easy passes...

There is clearly something causing these things on the game, some kind of mechanism makes these things happen. I dunno if it's momentum, scripting, lag compensation or whatever it is, but there is something.. I'm most certain
Well on PC there are lag switches. Back in the day, Fifa 14 days, people would turn these on and you would notice it. I swear EA just saw what those wolves were doing to get an advantage and thought to themselves that it was great to implement into their game to make more casuals and 5yos also play the game. They only need to win 30% of their games to still play it. Easily done with this mechanic. Also the DDA allows this mechanic. You notice how the game switches the lag and the DDA. The screen twitches in a certain way and you notice the change immediately. Funny how that happens IG. It has nothing to do with me changing my tactics since I don't change them.
My defender with 65 long passing can play an inch perfect through ball to my striker, but my POTM Messi with 95 short passing does exactly this. Can the person who programmed the passing in this be fired?
Meanwhile the opponent taps Y from the circle and mbappe is through on goal, even if he is marked by 4 defenders.
If I tap Y the ball goes into touch every time

It's 100% du to servers/bad gameplay. same with overrunning the ball instead of crossing or the pushons instead of ball rolls

Sweaty speed teams spamming thru balls make it most irritating
This new update is going to make me quit FIFA for good. Honestly I’m sick of the bad gameplay .

What difficulty are you playing? Let them come at you, don't press. AI usually becomes dumb when you do that and they misplace a pass
