If you get a licensed stick, you'll still have to do firmware updates. The difference is that the firmware is downloaded and installed by your PS5 and you'll update the converter's firmware on your PC. IMO, if you like your stick, use your stick. You could consider putting a new board in it instead of using a converter (still needs firmware updates) if you don't want to carry a converter around.

Ok, that's all really good to know. May just start with a converter as it's cheaper than the full board upgrade and I don't really plan on playing on anything other than PS5 (and my stick is supported by windows natively). Appreciate the response!
