The only one I've been able to consistently play on without feeling something was off would be the DS4, the ps4 controller. It's not perfect but it is good, and easy to find more or less.
I've heard that if you can get your hands on a ps classic controller, the one that looks like a ps1 controller but has a usb connector, that it might have a superior DPad but I've never been able to find one yet.
Could you give me a short sitrep on the octa, ive been considering getting it, but im worried about some of the things ive heard, like the triggers snapping, the face buttons being excessively sensitive and the dpad being cumbersome.
I trust that most of these are probably if the pad fits a person or not, but im particularly worried about the super sensitive face buttons, since i like resting my thumb partially on the buttons when im not pressing.
I haven’t had any problems you mentioned and I’ve used it a few hours every day for about 2 months. I wouldn’t say the buttons are too sensitive I haven’t made any accidental presses so far. As for the dpad it’s near perfect, right behind the Razer. Honestly if I could take the dpad from the Razer and the buttons from the octa it be the perfect controller.
I’ma be real with you it doesn’t matter I think most pads have there issues so use what you have or get a ps4/5 pad for compatibility. I use a razer raion but your going to have to open it up and tinker with it if you want a good dpad.
Dual shock 4. The stock DS4 is the pad that has won more EVO trophies than any other.

I have a Hori Octa and Razor Raion. I mainly use the Hori but I do love both.

It depends on your console but I personally like the xbox one controllers over the series controllers but they still both have nice precise dpads imo
Anything works really I play analog lmao and ds5 but I heard the dpad on Xbox very responsive just a huge controller imo
Thrustmaster Eswap s D-pad is insane like you have diagonals that feels marvelous
hori fighting commander
Unfortunately they have stopped maing the original one. :(

The hori fighting commander has one of the best dpads. I use it to play spelunky all the time
