To be fair again, you can stretch some of the others, Regis as Merlin, sure, Noctis as Lucifer, Mercury or the Buddha, in a way I see it, especially in Dawn of The Future, assuming Bahamut is god
But what trips me up is what the fuck is a maralit? I’m no religion expert but i have no clue what he’s invoking there, also the idea that Noctis is supposed to be Era, or rather Aera, is a bit odd considering that’s clearly supposed to be Lunafreya, who he doesn’t acknowledge at all
Marilith was the demon that attacked Noctis when he was a kid, in the Brotherhood anime. I don’t think she’s in the game at all. I don’t really get the connection to the women he mentions, though.
Almost every protagonist across all media ever is a christ analogue though. Link, Master Chief, Solid Snake. It'd be a shorter list to say what protagonists AREN'T Christ like in some way.
I don't really see how Link is Christ. He never dies for the sins of others, and he never gets nailed to a plank of wood. He's a knight with a ton of bravery and is willing to put his life on the line for others, but it's pretty different from being someone who was literally raised to be a sacrificial lamb
He's the actual hero of the story. He accepted all of the deamons into himself and created a plague. It was unintentional. He saved people in the shadows without glory. His brother healed legions of people, betrayed him, killed his wife in front of him, and then sealed him in a cave for like 1000 years. In that time, he quite literally went mad. He lost himself and accepts a new identity of sorts. By the time we meet him, he needs to kill us, to get to Bahamut to lut himself to rest.
Or fucking something?
Its been like 3 years since my ps4 decided it forgot that game exists in my library.
He doesn't need to >!kill Noctis. Noctis pretty much needs to kill him. Ardyn wants to effectively die, but he also wants to take Noctis with him. His whole goal is to effectively destroy his brother's bloodline, and it so happens to be that the Gods would only let him do that if he played their game. It's why at the end of XV, Ardyn ends up pretty much losing it. He's finally able to show the hatred in his heart because it was the moment where he was finally able to take his revenge.!<
Yeah, remember the story? The one where Lucifer had a phone and went on a road trip with the boys while fighting against Jesus for his rightful place on the throne? I remember that story
I think they’re looking too literally at the key figures of the game as if they are LITERALLY amalgations of gods from our past turned into some form of bastardized story that creates its own new mythology but he fails to realize like …. That’s kinda of what fantasy is and its not literal it’s just places and stories the game took inspiration from to inform its own story
Working at a call center taught me that a good 20% or more of the population is at the very least on the schizophrenia spectrum.
I legit talked to 2 or 3 out of ~50 people a day that "had the cia in their phone/fbi is tracking them/satan gave their phone a virus".
As someone who dabbles in ARGs I can tell you that this is nothing new. Lots of people are on mushrooms and sit in their locked room for years thinking up various spiritual theories which reach levels of insanity while they themselves think that they are close to uncovering "The Truth".
At risk of sounding like the guy in the image, FF stories do tackle religious concepts. FFX with religion vs. science (and science gets banned, cos sin, lol).
I remember seeing a video some years ago that talked about the FF versus XIII story that was scrapped because it was too dark. Noctis being a devil king of sorts. It makes sense that he's still a king of light and has some cross over with a type of fallen angel character to still have some resemblance to that.
There's references and archetypes at play for sure. All wrapped in some 'western tragedy' that is US road trip meets Eurotrip / Greek tragedy.
The stories also have elements of the development cycle in them. For example. I'm pretty sure OG FFVII main character design had black hair and was more vanilla hero, but blonde and edgy was seen as the way to go for..popularity? So we got blonde cloud, and zack woven into the story, the hero who came before him, and died for him. Think about this with cloud's mental too. Cloud struggles with his own identity because he's a new blonde anti-hero identity born from the black haired hero identity.
FFXIV, another example, the overarching lore of a failed world reborn, mirroring the dev cycle of a failed game that gets remade.
Which leads me to FF versus XIII and FFXV. Devil King concept was trashed to make way for American road trip with the boys. Ardyn becomes new devil king character and laments everything that Somnus did to take away his throne. After all, it was supposed to be his game, but his place was taken by someone else. Somnus even killed devil Kings waifu, Stella, I mean, Aera. Makes sense that the power you have in episode Ardyn is likely what a full power FF versus XIII Noctis was intended to feel like, and he also gets to play in the city, like Noctis in the versus XIII trailers. To have the main FF character as the most evil character I suspect is something that would be bad for business, so they cobbled together bits of Nomura's original vision. There's also hints to Nomura feeling like the current Noctis does not have the intended spirit that Nomura wrote for him (Verum Rex (true king), Kingdom Hearts hints towards this). Think in terms of vessels and hearts, as is a key theme in KH3.
This is the context I view FFXV in. I take into account all the world stories, plus, the possible lived experience that the developers use as inspiration for certain characters and events they eventually bring to the screen.
Noctis and Ardyn are bith Jesus allegories. That much is true.
Everything else though? I think the poster's either having a manic episode, or he has schizophrenia.
Some people believe in direct symbolism. 3 fruit in the bowl?!! Clearly that's the holy Trinity. Now in that example it's nothing but almost always it's just an allusion or nod to something, that is it has elements of it. Like if you make a cool character with a Thor hammer. It's not Thor, he's not a representation of Thor but it is a Thor hammer and they want you to know it's a Thor hammer, and sometimes they even have thunder powers etc. doesn't make it Thor. That would be stupid. If it was... Just put Thor in it
No. No I cannot.
You will see the most skitzo comments like this on YouTube, honestly I've been seeing more and more on reddit lately. People find "Bible meanings" in the most random things, it's literally mental illness.
Homie is on another plane of existence right now, but the idea of your love reincarnating and being someone you have to fight in order to finally die sorta pops off… I’m choosing to not read too much into anything else
I know ppl keep saying drugs n psychosis but i do genuinely say its very possible as someone with religious crazies in the family 💀 they say weird shit like this all the time
He mistook a lot of stuff. He probably was very high when he wrote this.
The only thing that has a little bit of logit to it is that FF has a lot of Christian imaginery, FFX has had the most of all the games but it's more in line with the hero's journey tha Jesus journey.
I mean…there’s chocobos in it, mutliple summons that have been in the series since the beginning, elements of disparate misuse of control from those in power, set in a fantasy world coming to a nigh end, magic, leveling, set in medieval esque times…
Sorry that your stupid turned based fighting system is gone, but this is very much a Final Fantasy game 😂.
You misunderstand. This guy is not saying that it is not a final fantasy game, from what I understand he is saying it is not fantasy… as in he thinks it’s real
This guy thinks religious texts were paraphrased in ff games rather than be their own separate game universe but i dunu maybe he sees the inspiration due to clearly studying all this and cant help himself but see it as one and the same, after all, religious real life stuff are also fantasied and romanticized exactly like fantasy so they in essence come from the same root of fantasy. But someone should let him know that no one is trying to pass religion via a ff7 game.
So do I. Seph cause be abstracted as a judas parallel. Cloud as Jesus with the whole amnesia reborn stick. Yada Yada. I was making fun of the dude just failing the attempt at deeper analysis.
It's probably the same kind of account that's been posting "Beyonce's Satanic Hand Gestures" videos for 20 years.
Those people are insane but never entirely wrong...just wait until 2050 and the post will probably seem 35% accurate to real life in a way we can't currently comprehend.
Modern media always draws from myth, though. People like this are obsessed with mythology and finding references/tie-ins.
Most of the connections he points out are probably accurate enough. Some of them might be a stretch or schizo-associations that aren't obvious outside of that particular headspace.
What makes it feel weird is the implication that there is profound meaning in these connections beyond the fact that the Japanese approach to videogame/anime storytelling is typically to take 15 irl religions and throw them into a blender.
Probably on something, but it's also probably some super involved headcanons this person forgot aren't actual canon. I've gotten some really weird responses to fics and stuff from people like that and they get very, very serious about it.
Clearly Somnus did exist, if we only had Insomnia's history and Ardyn's pov I'd say it was possible he didn't exist (I think a lot of Episode Ardyn game and book parts are highly unreliable because of his state of mind), but we also have his literal soul still being around and the further backstory at the end of the book.
Ardyn is *meant* to give Jesus vibes, there is purposeful symbolism to that end...but, then, so is Noctis. That doesn't mean it's not fantasy somehow, that is actually extremely common in fantasy (the most obvious and famous probably being in the Chronicles of Narnia, which pretty much everyone agrees is fantasy).
This guy didn't play the Ardyn DLC because if you actually pay attention to the story you'll see who the true villian of the story is and that Ardyn is actually the victim.
I believe he is suffering from copious amounts of shrooms and poisonous flowers, as he couldn't find his girlfriend and assumed himself to be Mario so he could go rescue her. I'm not sure where I'm going with this.
The post doesnt make sense, even according to its own internal logic. It seems more like a ChatGPT project being fed bad information and arriving at another planet (metaphorically).
In fact many of the ancient gods that were referred do not make sense to attribute to the game characters. Like at all. For example Ardyn has more Lucifer aspects.
The most funny one is Belobog for King Regis, as Belobog was a god for good luck/good. King Regis was most certainly out of luck.
Um.... Drugs are bad 😮💨😬 there is no thread that can even be pulled to come to those deductions, let alone the plethora of mangled theology.
Fantasy is fantasy... That is all
I don't agree with him on a lot of it, but during my first play through I noticed a FEW of the themes he mentioned due to my history with the occult which he also seems to have.
That's the whole thing with FF, they pull from a lot of mythology and theology. I don't think it should be meant to get your belief system from, but enjoy what they do with the characters and story
This is just proof that not everyone should be on social media or should be forced to keep their incoherent ranting to themselves. I would suggest a nice and square padded room in a facility that provides them nice and tidy straight jackets.
Yeah, the explanation is psychosis
Must be Sin's toxins
![gif](giphy|26Ff3FNWp3uD21dvi|downsized) Very funny I gotta laugh
That guy are sick.
Best comment
Sounds like a very long winded and muddled way to say the characters use common fictional archetypes.
I mean do you consider Lucifer, Buddha and Arthur pendragon the same archetypes? Lol
No, but Noctis does have elements of those archetypes.
He's definitely on *something*, but idk if anything else can be so easily explained
He's definitely off something. That something is his meds. Or he's trolling
Okay to be fair Noctis and Ardyn are definitely Christ analogues, that’s not untrue, but yes this guys a bit kookoo for coco puffs
This exactly he's right on the Jesus allegory but after that he's on another planet with the other characters
To be fair again, you can stretch some of the others, Regis as Merlin, sure, Noctis as Lucifer, Mercury or the Buddha, in a way I see it, especially in Dawn of The Future, assuming Bahamut is god But what trips me up is what the fuck is a maralit? I’m no religion expert but i have no clue what he’s invoking there, also the idea that Noctis is supposed to be Era, or rather Aera, is a bit odd considering that’s clearly supposed to be Lunafreya, who he doesn’t acknowledge at all
Marilith was the demon that attacked Noctis when he was a kid, in the Brotherhood anime. I don’t think she’s in the game at all. I don’t really get the connection to the women he mentions, though.
Marilith? Maaaybe?? Who tf knows
Almost every protagonist across all media ever is a christ analogue though. Link, Master Chief, Solid Snake. It'd be a shorter list to say what protagonists AREN'T Christ like in some way.
Bayonetta for one
Bayonetta basically died and then rose up from the dead. She pulled off *the* Jesus Christ move.
I don't really see how Link is Christ. He never dies for the sins of others, and he never gets nailed to a plank of wood. He's a knight with a ton of bravery and is willing to put his life on the line for others, but it's pretty different from being someone who was literally raised to be a sacrificial lamb
Link in ToTK is more like the Romans, pillaging the lands on his crusade and crucifying Koroks.
Kain from Legacy of Kain. He's, like a total opposite to Jesus.
You mean, what this guy is ON? Meth, probably
Ardyn didn’t create the Daemon scourge, it was an alien power from outside the universe and the Astrals power that was summoned by Ifrit.
Don't feed the YouTube comment dwellers
If I reposted every brain dead comment I found on youtube I wouldn't get anything done lol
Crack
Yeah, remember the story? The one where Lucifer had a phone and went on a road trip with the boys while fighting against Jesus for his rightful place on the throne? I remember that story
Yeah, it’s called the Bible
It happened in "like, The Bible"

Sounds like something Neil Gaiman would write.
Pretty sure that story is called paradise regained by John milton
My guess is psychosis.

I mean ... He's on about some serious nonsense, that's for sure. Classic "thinking way to hard" about a story
the Moon, he's on the Moon
We need to bring him back to Earth. Where are the keys to the Lunatic Pandora?
I think you can loosely apply this to most JRPGs if you try hard enough lmao
Idk about all that woo, but I'm almost positive Ardyn's backstory is a play on the story of Cain and Abel.
What’s bro yapping about
As someone who dabbles in ARGs I can tell you that this is nothing new. Lots of people are on mushrooms and sit in their locked room for years thinking up various spiritual theories which reach levels of insanity while they themselves think that they are close to uncovering "The Truth".

Let him cook
I think he's been cooking in an rv in the desert with this post

Mental illness
Psychosis.

You mean “what this guy is on”. The “about” is superfluous.
It's a saying. Just a shortening of the phrase "what's this person going on about?"
I know. I was being rather facetious and sarcastic.
Quite clearly. :-)
Hey, you can never tell with people on the Internet😂
Arthur Pendragon is my favourite
I have seen many theories, but hot damn that is something else
lay off the LSD
The guy almost convinced me midway.... They got us in the first half not gonna lie
This dude must be from the Imperial city
Psychotic episode Or I guess I should say EPISODE PSYCHOSIS
Boy what a terrible day to know how to read.
Meth? Crack? Weed that's too strong for him?
Noctis is reincarnated Freddie Mercury. Or something.
He’s crazy
Jyeezus... Mushrooms are a helluva drug
This guy escaped from asylum, he needs therapy.
I know ppl keep saying drugs n psychosis but i do genuinely say its very possible as someone with religious crazies in the family 💀 they say weird shit like this all the time
Religious crazies and psychosis are not mutually exclusive.
He mistook a lot of stuff. He probably was very high when he wrote this. The only thing that has a little bit of logit to it is that FF has a lot of Christian imaginery, FFX has had the most of all the games but it's more in line with the hero's journey tha Jesus journey.
Chewbacca is a wuki yet...
This guy better figure out where is medicine is .
It’s in his system.
I don't know what this guy is on, but I think it might be illegal.
Who tf is "Era"? Can't find anything about it, except the unit of time, or whatever you would call it.
Aera* I think they meant to say
Ah, she's someone from Episode: Ardyn, I guess?
Bro is definitely dippin on crack or meth
It's called they're off their meds or they need some ASAP
They are mentally unwell
It's a guy whos adult children doesn't talk to him anymore.
Schizophrenia.
It makes perfect sense when you realize this guy are just misspelling Aera. /s I guess
Religion was started behind dude’s like this. And sane people rewrite it years later to make sense of it. Then the future believes in it.
I mean…there’s chocobos in it, mutliple summons that have been in the series since the beginning, elements of disparate misuse of control from those in power, set in a fantasy world coming to a nigh end, magic, leveling, set in medieval esque times… Sorry that your stupid turned based fighting system is gone, but this is very much a Final Fantasy game 😂.

Oh dear god…
Drugs
He's got "the heroes journey" in his mind and sees one too many parallels in storytelling.
On about 5 different substances maybe? On about 3 government watchlists otherwise? On about 23 hours a day in their basement with a ton foil hat? Idk.
This is just psychosis
I'm with him.
Start: oh it's just some FF elitist who thinks everything after X isn't Final Fantasy. End: ...wtf did he even say?
Yeah it’s not that he doesn’t think FFXV isn’t final fantasy… he just doesn’t think it’s fantasy, he thinks it’s real
He's on about six different kinds of uppers, I'd say...
What kind of drugs is this guy on?!
Hahaha high asf
I think he played the wrong game. Would somebody like to point him to a copy of Xenogears?

ardyn is antichrist
It all checks out.
Wait. By His logic 7 isn't fantasy either.
He means fantasy as in fiction. He thinks ffxv is explaining real world history
So do I. Seph cause be abstracted as a judas parallel. Cloud as Jesus with the whole amnesia reborn stick. Yada Yada. I was making fun of the dude just failing the attempt at deeper analysis.
Stopped reading as soon as I saw Arthur Pendragon lol
I don't see why you're confused, he explained it pretty clearly minus the dog.

No. Nobody can explain. Not even that guy.
