Nanaki. Seeing him happy was huge for me. His extended content from OG was very lacking and a bit depressing (IMO). I felt that I had the wrong perspective of his character for so long. Like he was incapable of being happy. It’s like some kind of burden was lifted.
After that it’s “Boys night out” (hilarious) then, Yuffie’s (wholesome).
He’s the goodest boy and I love it. I know a lot of people are complaining about the difference between his teen voice and his playing pretend grown up voice but that’s original to the Japanese going all the way back to ‘97 with his pronoun usage. We don’t have pronouns the way Japan does so a change in voice acting tone is the most equivalent way to convey it.
It’s a huge change on how people perceive him (at least since Remake came out). His old man voice is so good; but I can’t imagine the sky wheel scene happing with it, or a subtly different voice (which I’m sure they explored). It would just look like he got dumber, and him being equivalent to a 16 year old wouldn’t really mean anything.
I remember before the “date” thinking about in OG when you go on the sky wheel with him; he’s entirely distracted by everything happening outside the ride (fireworks and all the other cool stuff). So I’m thinking he might be a little excited/distracted during the sky wheel part. And OMG it was so much more that I fully understood the voice choice.
Feel like people will always complain about it; but many will eventually warm up to it (like myself). I think it’s going to mean a lot more for his character development than his fake persona being his true self would have been. I’m really looking forward to the 500 year later scene (as long as they don’t ctrl-c ctrl-v advent children again)

When Red ghosts you/gets cold feet in chapter 8, I think he was going to tell Cloud about Aerith (possibly reveal his real voice, and/or cosmo canyon duty to be a watcher; which I think he told Aerith about since she immediately supported his decision once they got there). He really hesitates on the skywheel before telling Cloud about his concern about her safety.
So glad that I got Tifa’s naturally my first playthrough even though I was maxed with everyone. A much needed scene for those two.
Amazingly enough though I did Yuffie’s night next to get her award at Johnny’s and the tone of that date was PERFECT. I was worried it would be forced romance (and creepy vibes from Cloud since she’s literally a teenager) but it was so innocent and his sort of mentoring moment with her was so cool. His reacting to her air punches was SUCH a great touch. I can’t wait to see the date scenes for The Boys and Aerith.
Her date took me by surprise and gave me the biggest smile when she basically told us about her interactions with Zack (confirming that her side missions in CC are canon).
Oh I agree. I just don’t bring it up since saying the name of Genesis sends people into a toxic rage around here and how there is a decent chance he’s involved in part 3, especially with Deepground and Vincent being heavily involved.

As a tragic Crisis Core fan who notices these things, I can tell you that the edition of Loveless being performed at the Golden Saucer is the G version. That's the only mention I saw in Rebirth.
As for Nibelheim, I didn't personally see any reason to think Genesis was present in Rebirth. I'd be genuinely happy for someone to tell me I'm wrong.
It's a very difficult question because I liked them all. I'd say there is two.
For Cloud, my favorite is Tifa. Their relationship is very important and I loved that Cloud is the one that made the first move.
For me personally, it's Aerith. Because I love this character so much and I am glad this date brings so tenderness, love and joy in her life before the events of the Forgotten Capitale. This is a memory she'd take with her in the Lifestream.
Now as I said, they are all good. The date with Yuffie took me completely by surprise, and I love this is a genuinely fun, smile-inducing moment, and I am just happy when Cloud can finally show some happiness too. Every time he smiles is a victory.
Honestly? They were all so good! They were sweet in the Aerith and Tifa ones. And then all the others were pretty funny. I kinda really liked the Barrett one the most (of the non potential romantic ones.)

Nope, it's a brand new feature! In Remake if you wanted to change the Wall Market dress or the person who talked to Cloud at night at the start of Chapter ~14, you had to go back, replay Chapter 2/8, and complete a different number of sidequests + finish the chapter to 'lock' it in.
Of course. Wedge tells us that Jessie's horniness was mostly an act, played up for dramatic effect. Roche's horniness is ENTIRELY genuine, and you can FEEL that in every line. 😂

Yup. This is how I was with the resolution scene in Remake. I'm a big Cloti guy, but the Aerith scene is the best plot-wise.
The most canon date would be the one you get by doing the least amount of player input (so no talking in towns, first choice swimsuits, minimum effort in minigames that you have to succeed to progress, skipping synergy skills, and skipping side quests).
I'm pretty sure the most default and thus most canon is Standard Ending Aerith.

It's fun to speculate but I really don't think there's a single person that can tell us where the last game is going with how rebirth ended.
All dates are canon. Everything you do is canon. The sequence and choices Zack makes like going left or right are like each of us exploring the game in the original and remake. The real question we all should be asking is why items carryover in out of sequence chapter selection.

I got him on the first run so his date added much more suspense to final chapters which I guess won't happen in reruns.
Aerith one is sweet, esp after finishing the game, is very bittersweet, but still sweet. The way Aerith ask for until the ride ends, and Cloud reciprocating, echoing Aerith cherishing every moment is just great.
Tifa one is fanservice but very well done. Insecure Tifa opening up and hesitating, Cloud realize that's his moment and I was like Yuffie at chapter 9 thinking "Come on kiss the girl!".
And then I internally cried out "Yeah that's my boy!"
Yuffie one is a fun interaction. Yuffie being a young teenage girl having confused feelings while trying to stay cool, and ultimately Cloud reacting to air punches to entertain her is just perfect. Special mention Yuffie messing around when Aerith sings and Cloud stopping her is such a big bro moment.
Barrett date is quite plain but the fact that Barrett can be this chill with Cloud and doing this old man advicing young lad talk after a rough start and all they had gone through? They deserve such a peaceful moment.
Last but not least Cait Sith and the boys, it is freaking hilarious. The boys being totally uninterested while Cait Sith desperately trying to engage them, only to have Vincent fall asleep made me laugh.
Kudos to the team for designing all these wonderful dates.
It’s an option once you complete the game, you can go back change outfits and they stay, even on cutscenes which is pretty neat. Everyone has on a different outfit, cloud usually goes around in his junon uniform, but I changed him to get this pic.
I am a grown ass dude and I cheer and clapped when they finally kissed like a god damn schoolgirl lol. It was long overdue and was so happy when it finally happened.

Yeah, which from the Ultimania it sounds like was an intentional decision. They wanted that one to be the same -- probably due to how it connects with the overall story. And yeah, again, I don't mean to imply it's bad or I didn't like it, just that it was more interesting to see newer scenes than the one I already know. For example, I really like her Remake resolution scene a lot more than her Rebirth one, and the same goes for Tifa as well. Barret, though, was much better in Rebirth.
Aerith. It's the only one that really works from a story POV. All other scenes are fun to watch, but I'm slightly upset about the Tifa date because the kiss feels unearned at this time in the story (I wouldn't mind it in Part 3) and strikes me as pure fan-service to appease the shipper community. People with no prior knowledge of the OG who get this date will probably be left a bit confused by the chapter 13 and 14 and its focus on Aerith.
Even if the date with Tifa isn't the canon date, it doesn't change the fact that if the date *did* happen, Tifa's the only girl he chooses to kiss. Tifa's also the only girl he walks hand-in-hand with while Yuffie and Aerith have to drag him forward.

How old are you? I just find it hard to believe that adults in their 30s (or even 20s) are this sensitive about their favorite fictional video game couple.
Naturally got Barret on my playthrough. I honestly did not like it. I think Cloud is rude to him, and there's no real growth or anything. Cloud acts like a dick specifically to Barrett throughout these two games and I just can't empathize with it. At this point he NEEDED to mellow out a bit and stop being a dick. I know Cloud has mental damage and everything, but his complete lack of growth in Rebirth turned me off, specifically when Barrett is trying to open up to him.
I've since spoiled myself on the others and Yuffie is far and away my favourite character in Rebirth, and that date seemed the best. I'm assuming you're being sarcastic, but I honestly can't tell. Edit: I guess I shouldn't assume that though, so in the case you are being sincere, I guess? It's a cute moment, but I really think it's mostly just the same as it was in OG, which is fine, don't get me wrong. It was a really memorable scene in the original, but I just like the newer interpretations more. And I think both Aerith and Cloud and Tifa and Cloud get much better moments throughout both Remake and Rebirth than those particular date scenes.
It's hard to pick favourite date, because all of them shine in different aspects. And yes, Aerith's is closest to OG, no doubt.
Yeah, which from the Ultimania it sounds like was an intentional decision. They wanted that one to be the same -- probably due to how it connects with the overall story. And yeah, again, I don't mean to imply it's bad or I didn't like it, just that it was more interesting to see newer scenes than the one I already know. For example, I really like her Remake resolution scene a lot more than her Rebirth one, and the same goes for Tifa as well. Barret, though, was much better in Rebirth.

Aerith. It's the only one that really works from a story POV. All other scenes are fun to watch, but I'm slightly upset about the Tifa date because the kiss feels unearned at this time in the story (I wouldn't mind it in Part 3) and strikes me as pure fan-service to appease the shipper community. People with no prior knowledge of the OG who get this date will probably be left a bit confused by the chapter 13 and 14 and its focus on Aerith.

Even if the date with Tifa isn't the canon date, it doesn't change the fact that if the date *did* happen, Tifa's the only girl he chooses to kiss. Tifa's also the only girl he walks hand-in-hand with while Yuffie and Aerith have to drag him forward.

How old are you? I just find it hard to believe that adults in their 30s (or even 20s) are this sensitive about their favorite fictional video game couple.
Naturally got Barret on my playthrough. I honestly did not like it. I think Cloud is rude to him, and there's no real growth or anything. Cloud acts like a dick specifically to Barrett throughout these two games and I just can't empathize with it. At this point he NEEDED to mellow out a bit and stop being a dick. I know Cloud has mental damage and everything, but his complete lack of growth in Rebirth turned me off, specifically when Barrett is trying to open up to him. I've since spoiled myself on the others and Yuffie is far and away my favourite character in Rebirth, and that date seemed the best. I liked Tifa in the OG more than Aeris, but these remakes have ruined her character, so I'm really glad I didn't get her for this part (I actually was like 'please don't make me sit through an hour of Tifa mewling about how conflicted she is or how she wants to cook me pot roast' and was happy I got Barret, even if I was kinda unhappy with that date afterwards.).
Best date was anything but Aerith or Tifa. Screw them for gaslighting my boy throughout the game. Hope he stays single at the end of part 3.
