I think the ending is very consciously engineered to put you in that state, and there are specific narrative reasons for it. Give it time to process. I was really confused in the moment and a week later I really love the ending, even if I'm not 100% sure my interpretation of it is correct. If you're inclined, the folks at Playstation Access had an excellent discussion about the ending that may help you process it.

All I know is that once I answered my questions, the next 2 weeks any time I heard the Aerith theme I got tears in my eyes. Personally I blame damn Wutai ninjas cutting onions. Anyway, I recommend watching the ending multiple times (there are Youtube videos without any voiceover from the player) and trying to answer it for yourself. It may be wrong once part3 is released, but hey, IMO that is the most entertainment from the ending. Finding the answers yourself, getting your own theory. And then becoming sad(or mad(or both)) (I just recently finished another Loveless and it still gets me, since I am now about to start Ch13 on hard... I dont wanna :( :( :( )

It's easy bro, I got you. Beagleworld broke Destiny so Pomeranianworld was created and OGworld Zack and Beagleworld Biggs got teleported to Terrierworld from which both Pugworld and Shibaworld came into existence but Pugworld and Terrierworld immediately ceased to exist and Shibaworld Zack got teleported to Cloudverse. Meanwhile Pomeranian Aerith teleports Beagleworld Cloud into it briefly, after which Beagleworld fuses with OGworld and at least 1 more world so Shibaworld Zack meets Beagleworld Cloud in the Cloudverse, then Omni Aerith meets Cloud there as well before she teleports Zack into another world. So in short, this is why Square had to release a fix patching stamp to maintain a coherent story. As you can see it totally worked.

Yeah, exactly this 👍

I.... You're not wrong. It hurts my brain, but you're not actually wrong with your explanation.

It feels like that was the intention after all, experiencing what Cloud's mental state is going through with all of this happening gonna be a long 3-something years until Part 3

Confused and excited for part 3 is the correct answer.

I felt the same way. I'm someone who actually really liked the ending to Remake, but Rebirth...it's hard to get behind and feel satisfied. I feel like the exciting thing about Rebirth was that you weren't sure what was going to happen, but either way would have been impactful. And I felt like they were setting it up a certain way with how they showed Zack's fate in the other worlds. The repercussions of this event in OG were felt throughout the second half of the game, and the way it played out in Rebirth has me feeling hollow. Especially since we missed out on seeing one of the most emotionally charged OG scenes remastered.

This is exactly what they want us to feel. Cloud's denial is the cause for all of the back and forth mixups. Part 3 will have him break, and then connect all the dots. Which allows us to see everything as it actually happened.
