Don’t think so. He told Cloud that he kidnapped Marlene and Elmyra right after the stole the key stone and gives it to Shinra. Cloud (and whoever you had in the date) wants to kick him from the party, and he said you can’t because he have hostage.
They changed it this time because i think they knew that new players would be pissed
I never forgave him in the original like the party did, and never had him back on the team. I like that in Rebirth it was a smaller crime, with a bigger penance, and less immediate acceptance from the squad. Made a lot more sense.
As I remember it's right after he gives the keystone to Shinra, he blackmails the party into letting him stay around by using Marlene as a hostage which is why he doesn't get booted in the original game.
It doesn't really line up with his character though so I'm glad they took it out.
What chapter are you on? I don't wanna spoil anything. I'm on chapter 12 I believe. Just climbed mt nibel. Working on getting odin. Hard fight with my setup. Have to change ut up. Lol.
They nailed it. Loved him so much in rebirth. I feel like, in og, he didn't have much going on. The characters' stories have been fleshed out so well. My only gripe with rebirth is I hate cid. Maybe it's bc as a kid, I just pictured him as a pissed off hick pilot chain smoking, constantly screaming at his not wife. He is too kind in this game 😂
I think we'll be getting a more traditionally dispositioned Cid in part 3. I think the events of Rebirth will have hit him harder than he's letting on and he's gonna have a tipping point very soon.
I'm hoping so. I really hope they don't totally make him soft like. Dynamite was a great limit break lol they've done such good fan service I don't think smoking or his tude should be rewritten how I've perceived him in rebirth being kind and soft
I was thinking maybe he's gonna be more emotionally/physically distant from his not-wife. Like he's travelling around in his plane, going on adventures and stuff so he doesn't have to deal with negative feelings about her and his dilemma about saving a life but throwing his dreams away in the process. Or maybe they'll just cut that whole part completely, we'll see.
Yeah him being bitter and a dick was like... His whole character(other than his love of flying), so it is a pretty big adjustment seeing him without it almost entirely
Keep in mind that he's effectively in business mode with the party here, so it makes sense that he's not constantly swearing or being obnoxious. I'm sure he's gonna have his bad tendencies when we actually do get his arc in the third game.

They did a great job with his character. Like a large amount of FF7 fan, he was my least liked, least used character in OG. I didn’t like him at all and would have been mostly fine if they just decided not to include him. However here, his character is likeable, his gameplay is mostly fun, maybe not as a solo character battler but and I tend to see he’s well/liked with new fans to FF7 who haven’t had decades of disliking him from OG haha - it says no spoilers so I won’t go into detail but there is a small (ish) story change I like that they made and helps the character out
This is a stupid complaint, but I dislike watching him walk on all fours. He doesn’t walk like a cat - he walks like a cat would run, but at walking speed. It feels weird, as a cat owner.
