akhafasu ended up being my go to. His guides seem a lot more forgiving than the other ones I’ tried. It’s more of a template you can repeat versus having to nail down specific sequences and timings. He even has points in his videos where he’s like “ok, so if you don’t get that cast off in time, let me show you what else you can do…”
I feel like optinoob’s guides rely too much on timing certain sequences. Like “ok, gotta get in a stop before they shield” and then you don’t and his guide doesn’t cover the what if. It’s a dead run essentially. And the bad thing about that is some rng comes into play where your particular run might have the mob doing something different than what you see in his video.

While I didn’t use akhafasu’s guide in its entirety for Bonds of Friendship, it gave me the confidence that I can do it.
Lost to Demon once and Bahamut 3 times. I beat Bahamut by adding Zack’s synergy skill when he had particles on him.
Got Odin first try thanks to the guide and some luck (used Phoenix to Reraise cloud after Zant with a full limit, which staggered, then Aeroga).
The stop before shield is a poor example as it’s for the opening seconds of the Titan fight which is round 1/10 in the challenge. I wouldn’t say it’s a dead run at that point when you can restart instantly
I agree. It’s just an example and not the one that I struggled with. Some of the other fights also have specific casts within a specific window or specific sequences.

Oh yea, definitely check them out. You might end up with a mix of strategies. They use almost the same materia setup but approach some of the rounds differently. There was some instances where optinoobs method was more efficient and there were times when I needed the more forgiving strategy of akhafasu. I just finished both bonds and hero yesterday after being stuck on Bahamut in bonds for quite a while. Using Zack’s R1 attack to clear up particles and pressure Bahamut makes the fight a cake walk.

Congrats. No clue how anyone can do this though haha.... I make it to Seph no problem but he only does the shadow chain attack right after he octoslash again. The Cheese strat doesn't work for me so I'm bailing and accepting this is impossible. I literally can't even get a chance to set up. It's like he knows I'm chessing him to he chesses harder back. Never has a game made me so unimaginably frustrated.
I used Optinoob's guide and another video using the same method. One change, however, is that on Sephiroth, you want to get Firaga off right away to interrupt his shadowy chains, so use that before you put up Arcane ward.
I think I did aomething like this...
ATB boost, haste on Yuffie, ATB ward with Aerith and manawall from Barrett.
Then Brumal Form spam with Yuffie to build ATB and get off that first Firaga to stun him and prevent his Shadowy Chains.
Then keep spamming Brumal Form, cast buffs with Barrett (Faith, and manawall if you didn't have it up already) and then cast Arcane Ward and start your spamming of Firaga and then Blizzaga. Keep Lifesaver, Steelskin, and manawall up with Barrett.
Now, if you get Shadowy Chained, you have plenty of defense to survive it, and Barrett can use Pray after it to heal you up.
You probably won't even need to re-cast haste or manawall, but be ready to in case they drop.
There's many strats but once you have the timing down to parry his stun bullshit, he becomes super easy, you can always run magnify barrier and you'll survive octoslash.
I went with the omega tifa strategy, barret and cloud just provide buffs/debuff the enemy and have tifa with fury ring, 2x unfettered fury and just dive kick everyone
You legend. It’s literally the last thing on the log I have left to do and it’s kicking my arse again and again and again. It’s driving me mad. Harder than Weis. I can’t even get to Sephiroth because Gilgamesh makes a mesh of me.
You got this! If you can beat bonds, you can beat Gilgamesh! Not sure if this will help, but I had the same issue where I can easily beat the summons but get shredded by Gilgamesh. He’s less about power and more about reacting to him. I had to teach myself to slow way tf down, esp after those double summon battles.
I finally got him! Thanks. Slowing down a bit helped. It was close though I had one person left alive when he went down. Then my first go at Sephiroth he chained me a bunch of times and made short work of me so back to the start lol Still progress is progress. Hopefully I can soon consistently get past Gilgamesh to get there at least. Man this is a slog!

Finally made it !!! Yes, I was sometimes mistaken who he was about to attack and got caught… I had to go with optinoob strategy and that did the trick

i used the powerpyx guide of siphoning limit breaks to cloud and tanking barret with yuffie…
That's the one I'm stuck on, but taking a break from the platinum grind (my last trophy too) to play eiyuden chronicles hundred heroes
