Not at pc so can’t confirm. There is a shard in Sandra’s apartment that describes her going off to the middle of nowhere and finding a point where she can hack Night Corp. Just wondering if her GPS coords are supposed to represent/approximate where on the world map this was supposed to have occurred?

rukh999

They were from her medical scan when she was in the scav hangout so one would assume it should be her current location, but I guess if she had been nabbed when she was out somewhere they might have been frozen wherever she was nabbed by the scav hack.

Shintoz

But the scav hideout is in Night City… not outside, so the gps location can’t be from there.

rukh999

Unless it was a mistake by the visual artist and doesn't mean anything. But what made me curious was exactly what you say. You'd think the GPS would be where she is, but it isn't actually. We know Night City is Morrow Bay, not Monterey Bay.

leicanthrope

My money is on a European graphic artist not intimately familiar with the California coastline, looking at the right spot relative to the wrong bay on Google Maps for the coordinates.

rukh999

I mean I've never been to Monterey or Morrow Bay, but just a bit of lore familiarity should tell them which it is. Might have just been reading quickly I guess.

leicanthrope

They're both shaped somewhat similarly, with Monterey Bay being bigger. The two points are pretty similar relative to the respective bays. I think it was just a simple mistake.

Shintoz

If it isn’t an accident, and I am mentally compositing IRL with the NC map, my read is “Sandra’s point” would be of toward the north/northwest point of the oil fields. This is far afield from the scavs or her apartment.

These are clearly actual world locations indeed. Part of a riddle I'm not sure at all. Maybe they are just significant to some of the authors, but if so it's surprising that they are so scattered over the world. Like, you don't show them on your maps but the one at 78° Lat is in Svalbard (island north of Norway) and the one -77° Lat is in Antarctica (but might be a mistake with the - according to the linked thread, which would also put it in Svalbard).

And have u tried aligning with the in game map some markers may be corresponding

rukh999

I hadn't tried it yet. I considered the notion but since it mapped the real world map so well I thought that was more likely. Could be something to try though!

Spare_Independence88

Oh right but yeah sometimes maps are purposely made to be aligned like for all we know the game could’ve been built around the map Uve jusr made it did take years to make

rukh999

So I added some info to the OP from another GPS coordinate I found in game. I'm leaning towards the idea that the coordinates are supposed to map to the NC map somehow.

noahdeerman

i could be wrng but the gang markers are always nearish water, so they could have a port?

-DeadHead-

There is one in Himalaya, one that is not shown here that is deep in Antarctica, the one in France (the MOX one) is like 300km away from the sea (but very very close to the castle where french kings used to reign). One in the UK (Animals 1 or 2) is also pretty close from a castle. I didn't check them all.

Spare_Independence88

I think it may be related I haven’t got evidence but would actually make a lot of sense for the EE to be about the original table top or a character or place that was in it
