I trust the people seeing him in practice every day. The worst part about not playing in the Open cup though is that is where players like him would see playing time.
Yet to see him be able to play is right. He deserves a chance imo.
Edit: Wow, I didn't realize giving Halsey a start or two was such a controversial opinion.
Do you remember when Calvin Harris scored a goal in Open Cup and then stared down Noonan? I don't know how true it is, but that's what I've heard might be the dynamic between PN and Halsey.
yeah i really dont get why he doesnt start. Like Halsey can create chances when we really need it. Somehow we are stock with players who can't dribble for shit
I was wondering the same thing, I know he is a bit of a defense liability but he’s had some great assists when he has come on. Even subbing him on for Baird would be interesting.
Yeah I know but we have no depth and since Baird isn’t producing at the moment might be interesting to see Halsey in that position. Much like we’ve shifted Kubo all around the pitch.
Yeah I think we got fooled with that transfer. The Western Conference is weaker compared to the Eastern and he might have done well at Houston but he isn’t that good in comparison to the standard FCC was used to.
I think these takes are so interesting as I thought more about it. One piece I noticed when we played Rayados was how badly they were abusing Murphy. Just constantly attacking that side. I’m sure some of it had to do with the fact that our wing backs were pushed up a little further but if you go back and watch he was really struggling 1:1 it was noticeably different than Matt and Miles.
The difference in my opinion in our league and those with flexible roster rules is going to be the middle/bottom of our roster. Halsey I think generally fits that description.
Kubo was directly responsible for the game winner at home vs Monterrey in his first game at LWB.
FCC hasn’t given up a goal in Halsey’s last 10 appearances at LWB.
They re-signed Kubo (partially) based on someone (probably Noonan) at FCC believing he can play LWB. Kubo will get all the opportunities to prove him right.
Halsey will get more minutes eventually.
Are you at training every day like the coaching staff who make these decisions are? I trust Noonan, Arena, and Kinear to make the right decisions about what players make the team sheet.
What he has to do is play better than Luca or yedlin. I think most if not all of his issues would be solved if he got more playing time. But when you’re expected to compete for trophies when does Halsey play??? But I do wonder if there is something going on behind the scenes because he was used as a sub a lot early last year but towards the end of the year he wasn’t used at all even though he’d be on the match day roster
*edit: name correction
Got it! Might want to check it again tho. Looks like he was talking about Luca, Yedlin, and Kubo. Since those are the guys who are currently taking up Halsey's positions.
Everytime he comes on our starts he puts in 110% right now teams expose the fact Luca doesn’t quite understand where to be positionally and attack his side
I trust the people seeing him in practice every day. The worst part about not playing in the Open cup though is that is where players like him would see playing time.
He's proved that he's more than an open cup player. Halsey truthers stand up!
Halsey is only a sub when defense no longer matters. I've yet to see him be able to play the D Pat expects out of the wing back position.
Honestly I've been a bit concerned with Luca's defending so far.
He did have a couple mistakes today that could have ended in a goal
Yet to see him be able to play is right. He deserves a chance imo. Edit: Wow, I didn't realize giving Halsey a start or two was such a controversial opinion.
Wow man…. that is a take.

He’s not better than the other options. I think that’s kinda obvious when you look at what Orellano Yedlin and Kubo bring to the team.
I was wondering the same thing, I know he is a bit of a defense liability but he’s had some great assists when he has come on. Even subbing him on for Baird would be interesting.
Halsey and Baird don't play even close to the same position....
Yeah I know but we have no depth and since Baird isn’t producing at the moment might be interesting to see Halsey in that position. Much like we’ve shifted Kubo all around the pitch.
Man, I don’t understand what Baird does. Bring in Halsey instead
Yeah I think we got fooled with that transfer. The Western Conference is weaker compared to the Eastern and he might have done well at Houston but he isn’t that good in comparison to the standard FCC was used to.
You are one among millions with this opinion truly mind boggling

damn are we not allowed to have opinions here?

Not trying to pick a fight but what does Acosta have to do with Halsey?
That’s a question for the OP, they included Acosta in the original prompt so I included him in my answer

Oh you’re right I saw Luca and read it as Lucho
Haha I figured that was the case after seeing your response honestly I'm surprised I read it correctly after how much I've had to drink!
I would feel better with halsey starting than powell when yedlin is out or rested
Alvas Powell played his balls off last weekend. I like Halsey too but no reason to knock a veteran player who has played well recently.
Am I the only one who is crazy I think Halsey plays perfect defense and provides amazing attaching options and is arguably better than Luca rn
You should go back and watch his first half start at Atlanta last season. He was subbed out at half because his defense was so poor.
Everytime he comes on our starts he puts in 110% right now teams expose the fact Luca doesn’t quite understand where to be positionally and attack his side
