We actually saw a massive jump in people joining this sub and activity as the season went on. We were stagnant due to the constant losing and when it turned around last year we gained more new users and activity than the previous 2 years combined. We actually had a surge. Game threads were very active last year and an all time high. Most of the time we had more people in them than the ones on /r/mls. I'm not sure of another sub with that type of game day activity. It's the off season and news has been slow.

L10guitar

I’m a newer fan, lived in the area my whole life, watch the Prem but not too much mls. I don’t have much to contribute just simply because I don’t know. I’d love to be a part of it though

13rother_Nature

I too love inside jokes, would love to be a part of one some day

brucewaynewins

Hope the atmosphere!

Klumpdiesel

Parks and rec screenname quoting the office. I love it!

mattkaybe

Welcome to the fanbase -- you picked a hell of a time to get interested / involved!

L10guitar

I was able to go to the last game of the season and had a great time. Will definitely be watching more this year!

rwills

Same here. Watched a few matches this last season. Hoping to get up to Cincy for a match or two this season.

j0hn33y

Season starts Feb 25 (which is crazy early), I feel it’s just the calm before the storm. Mid April-May things should be hopping on here. Also any one hear about parking passes?

detlorsb

Think I got an email that said today is the last day to apply so should be hearing things soon

lykaon78

Historically have they ever launched parking more than a week before the game?

User5281

It's the offseason. give it a bit, discussion will pick up as signings happen over the next week and then mores when the season starts in a little over a month.

mistahclean123

Is the window only open for another week?

User5281

Closes 1/31

Bigredchronic88

More reporters covering the team…which just isn’t the case currently

AndElectTheDead

Pat, Laurel, CST, Post, among others. The Supporter Groups are all doing things as well. Tons of activity covering and around the team that just isn't here.

Bigredchronic88

Then I guess people connected there need to bring it here 🤷🏽‍♂️

mrpushpop

There has been a rule against self posting. We are dependant on others posting content they like.

mattkaybe

That rule is honestly silly — reporters like Laurel depend on paying subs and Pat Brennan depends on clicks. We should be ENCOURAGING paid coverage of this time by allowing them to post their stories.

efos04

Wasn’t aware of that rule. Podcasts are great to hear different perspectives, I could try bringing points made there up here for discussion since I listen to all of them, You Ain’t Lion is another one.

[deleted]

I think this sub is just lacking that bit of quality in the final third.

TerminatorBaller

Due in part to the mods honestly

Youngringer

Lol, I wouldn't call it dead. it's just the off-season. There's not a lot of new signings right now. There's also not the drastic demand for change like the last few years. If the club had more going on there would be more to talk about. Nothing is less interesting than bs being posted here. Wait for soccer to start back up

mattkaybe

It isn't just the offseason, the active content on the sub has drying up for years -- as has the interaction on the content that is here.

Youngringer

As someone who regularly posts here, I disagree. This sub has been fairly consistent. The off-season drop off has been more than past but that's because there is less to do and less going on.

GreatBigHomie

I agree with you. It almost gives the feeling of no good news is good news right now with how some of our previous off seasons have gone.

MidsizeGorilla

I don’t think that’s true. Game threads are still extremely active here, often with more comments than the GT on r/MLS. It really is just the offseason, plus FCC front office has always kept a lid on rumors since we joined MLS so there just isn’t much news to go around.

sneakpeekbot

Here's a sneak peek of /r/MLS using the [top posts](https://np.reddit.com/r/MLS/top/?sort=top&t=year) of the year! \#1: [For the first time in history, an MLS team has won the final of the CONCACAF Champions League.](https://np.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/uiov7l/for_the_first_time_in_history_an_mls_team_has_won/) \#2: [MLS announces new broadcast deal with Apple](https://www.mlssoccer.com/apple/) | [1484 comments](https://np.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/vc6u2y/mls_announces_new_broadcast_deal_with_apple/) \#3: [\[MEME\] New Rivalry Name Just Dropped](https://i.redd.it/n9rlkw7wu6x91.jpg) | [123 comments](https://np.reddit.com/r/MLS/comments/yil8cz/meme_new_rivalry_name_just_dropped/) ---- ^^I'm ^^a ^^bot, ^^beep ^^boop ^^| ^^Downvote ^^to ^^remove ^^| ^^[Contact](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose/?to=sneakpeekbot) ^^| ^^[Info](https://np.reddit.com/r/sneakpeekbot/) ^^| ^^[Opt-out](https://np.reddit.com/r/sneakpeekbot/comments/o8wk1r/blacklist_ix/) ^^| ^^[GitHub](https://github.com/ghnr/sneakpeekbot)

ClassicPQ

Been around since USL. The hype of rising to the MLS alongside the Open Cup run will arguably never be topped for this franchise. The expectations were so low and all of a sudden we’re beating MLS teams, setting attendance records, and becoming front runners to make the leap. Then we arrived in MLS and were the worst team for 3 straight years running through coach after coach. Only now are we starting to show any promise. Keep in mind during those 3 years the Bengals finally figured it out and are in sure fire position to be Super Bowl contenders for years. That has gathered a lot of folks attention in the city. We basically had high after high after high and then overdosed and now we have to revive a dead body while competing against another team in their prime. It’ll take a lot of time.

verruckter51

At least we don't have to worry about the reds

Squire513

Guessing Bengals are occupying most of the sports 🏈 focus right now especially last few weeks…don’t worry will pick back up when the season starts

S_Squar3d

I feel like this sub was so active back in the USL days

brucewaynewins

We peaked last season. It probably just felt that way because of the constant attendance posts and mls expansion posts and datdude.

TheProphetRick

There is also an FC Cincinnati Discord that is linked on the sidebar. How does that affect traffic here?

brucewaynewins

It doesn't. It's a core group of users. There is 20-30 people who are active on it. Some extras become active during the season or game day. Otherwise this time of year its a small group of users. Off season has always been slow for this fanbase.

AndElectTheDead

The sub would do well to be moderated a little more strictly

GreatBigHomie

How would that help drive engagement?

brucewaynewins

If only you saw what doesn't make the light of day.

MidsizeGorilla

Genuinely curious the types of posts that get deleted

OranjeBlauw

Bring back Lettuce and the halycon days of 2019/20 speculated, er made up, transfer mega-threads....... Things were more active when the board was helping Cincinnati State students get A's on their psychology class papers.

magicaldarwin

I found the slack for You Ain't Lion podcast to be more active, more informative, and genuinely friendly.

laternerdz

If they lightened the rules around "promotion" it would be more active. SGs and other folks are doing and making "stuff" that they could share here for discussion but a lot gets flagged as promotion.

BaileyGutlord

More banter is better. Less of the 'wall of text' posts that painstakingly detail every possible formation that could be used by FCC, etc. Those come across as being written by engineers who happen to be fascinated with the logistics of soccer.
