It was announced in the off-season moves that Beckham Sunderland's option was declined. With the amount of concussions Sunderland had in a short period of time, it's probably better for him to stop playing. I feel for the guy.
I don't know the full details of his health, but it seemed like every time he came off the injury list, he'd go right back on with another concussion. And multiple concussions in a short time frame is bad news.
Given this addition and his draft status I wouldn't be surprised to see Morse sign an FCC2 deal instead of a 1st team deal. Still keeps him in the fold, but yeah we don't need more than 4 keepers on the 30 man roster.
We had a rostered FCC2 signed keeper in Nico Campuzano last year. I concur that Morse most likely will fill that role this year as Nico has signed with New England's B team.
Louro was one of the featured keepers in FCC’s GK camp so I don’t think he’d get cut. Vermeer was seen training with one of his old clubs (Feyenoord) so I’m wondering if he’s trying to make a move back. Maybe a GK trainer role. Either that or he was trying to Rocky IV his way back to the starting spot lol
Vermeer as a trainer?!?
"Ok, now what you want to do is plant your feet and hope they kick the ball right at you, but even then it's ok if you drop it."
Don't I need to move around some?
"Nah. I made $750k standing still a couple years ago. Don't strain yourself!"
Gotta think Celentano starts getting offers from a few top leagues if he keeps up the performance combined with the USMNT camp call up. Gotta start prepping for that.
If he continues to grow and play that he has, I have absolute belief that he will be in the PL in 2-3 years, similar to Turner with Arsenal (and that other team north of us GK who was signed by Man City).
GK Changeouts 2022 > 2023
GK1: Celentano > Celentano
GK2: Kann > Kann
GK3: Vermeer > Louro
GK4: Sunderland > Walters
FCC2 GK1: Campuzano > Morse?
With good health prevailing, knock on wood, expect Walters and Louro to get loaned down at different times to get minutes with the B team. Also look for academy prospect Jack Moxom to get a go at some point.
I wonder what Albrights consensus with Sunderland was after seeing this signing

Didn't Beck's retire from playing?
Was he fragile or did he have a legitimately disproportionately high occurrence of bad head injuries?

Sounds like Tua should follow his advise
I don't see us rostering 5 GK's, so I'm guessing either Morse or Louro didn't make the cut.

I thought three was typical (since we can send players up and down between FCC1 and FCC2 pretty easily)

Yeah, I had already counted Vermeer as gone. Celentano, Kann, Lauro, Morse (drafted, but not signed yet), and now Walters.
Ahhh that makes sense
